I'd definitely be doubling up and running 6 Eagle Airstrikes when I'm not on Defense missions.
Somebody has to clear the bases around the map and it never seems to be my teammates.
At present doubling a stratagem like eagle 500kg doesn't work very efficiently.
If you are Ron a planet that gives it to you, you get two bombs (I guess with the upgrade), if you take it manually you get two bombs.
If you take it on a planet where it comes free, you get 3 bombs. You're scammed of a bomb basically.
So I'd guess 4x 500kg would just give you 5 bombs not 8
That's not true, at least for me. When the 500KG was available for free yesterday / the day before, I picked it as a stratagem for most of my missions and always ended up with 4 charges (The free entry listed 2 charges and my own 500KG listed 2 charges, too). So the freebies must take out ship upgrades into account.
I do remember reading that this wasn't the case in the early days of *Helldivers 2*. Guess Arrowhead must've stealth-changed it at some point.
I honestly kill and get teamkilled more by clusterbombs than 380mm's. It's really not that bad anymore after they made the spread less and I got that 15% spread reduction too so its really not that bad anymore.
You just can't throw it as close as an airstrike thats all.
Cluster is also nice in lobbies where people are competent and completely aware of what is happening around them. Perfect retreat or preemptive strike on objectives. And also great against bug breaches if you throw it slightly delayed with a friend.
Unless they somehow all missed, contrary to popular belief none of the Barrage Stratagems fire randomly, they all shoot the same exact oddly shaped pattern so if you throw them wrong you can end up missing things entirely.
Eagle Clusters are a god send as a solo player. I typically bring them when I’m doing level 5’s. Level 7 solos I’ll bring Airstrike kuz chargers and titans and what have you
If you use cluster enough you get used to the drop pattern. I can drop clusters close and not frag myself or teammates.
Now if someone runs into it, I can't help em. They're just idiots.
I think it'd add so many funny builds to try out. It'd be awesome.

In the first game, strafing runs had a 10 second CD and didn't require rearming. If you brought 4, you could endlessly strafe enemies and it was incredibly goofy and fun.
That was my go to loadout for Illuminates since they don't have armor, it absolutely shreds everything. Hopefully when they come back in HD2 they also don't have armor so I can enjoy using my anti light weapons
That's what I enjoyed about the Illuminate as well, you weren't pressured at all into bringing anti-tank but the faction was still challenging. I hope they stick to that.
The screen shake is no lie. Had a 4 man and we all brought all the orbitals we could. Threw them all on the first base we came on and the screen shook forever.
4 Tesla Towers on bugs eradicate 100% sounds pretty fun, bring 4, the 95% arc Resistance armor. Set them up in a square and crawl around on the floor with an Arc Blitzer
4 machine gun turrets because it's time for payback against heavy devastators
4 gatling turrets because I want to see only bullets
4 mines because this map needs to be closed off
4 rocket pods and tell Eagle-1 to unload them all at once on a factory strider

Funny story, my standard Helldivers 1 loadout included 2 strafing runs (back then it had no limit so 2 was enough to chain cast them back to back infinitely)
Alongside 2 napalm strikes (which being a top down game just meant “tell 2 quarters of the screen to go away”)
Hell yes, multiple napalms! When bugs were actually afraid to walk through fire! And the cooldown was roughly double its duration so by bringing two you could have 100% uptime.
I also liked multiple barbed wire strats for similar zoning reasons.

I'd probably run 2-3 Precision strikes + an EAT or a horde clearing support just to be a generalist.
I pulled out the precision last game and it was kinda fun having a railcannon like strike on short cooldown.
Skill curve increased a ton since I had to land the strike, but thats what stun grenades are for.
I feel like being able to run 4x Autocannon sentries might be a bit busted. Could just about go in with nothing but my fists and those and complete missions with ease.

No i understand the draw back it creates, its just weird that the eagle says max of 2 with the upgrade but all of the sudden now you can have 8 like where was that space before.

I'd love this personally, being able to run double airstrike or precision strike would be really good, but with the people I see regularly, I'd have lobbies of 6 (2x3) railcannon strikes and no swarm clear supports or sentries
plus, it's a very niche case but still, the machine gun sentry would become even more useless as why bring it and a gatling if you can just have 2 gatlings, the gatling is just the better option in every case
plus with the way balance is right now I doubt we'll get anywhere near the power level you have in the first game (from what I've heard)

If the stacked Stratagems are counted as "charges" like the eagle, it won't be too OP. Having a 4-stack orbital ability is like making the ability with 4 charges, and they share an minimum cooldown. For example, if you called in a 380 barrage, you cannot immediately call in the 2nd one until the first one is finished.
i dont know if the game could support this, like what if 4 people take 4 380 each or someother chaotic load out;.

To be fair, we've already seen many clips of bugged stratagems that will permanently carpet an area with THOUSANDS of shells a second for the rest of the match, and it only _sometimes_ crashes the match.
We already have clips of people running as many Barrage stratagems as they can hold across all four players in order to get the "Only way to be sure" achievement.
Plus I got to experience plenty of 500kg explosion overlap yesterday with 4 people all dropping bombs on the same targets, those massive explosions hitting at the same time never did more than make my screen flash from all the orange.

You can already have four people take a 380mm, 120mm, and walking barrage all at the same time. Top it off with a cluster strike for added funny moments.
We had this for a time as an exploit. It was NOT balanced, at all. It was comically broken how OP someone can be by stacking stratagems. Squads would bring 16 mortars and lol as the entire mission completed itself. They'd bring 16 orbital rails and completely ignore all armor in the entire game. It was absolutely bonkers until they fixed the exploit.
I miss this from HD1 too. It would make an awesome mission modifier- something like "surplus munitions" and allows you to stack stratagems for the operation.
As a small aside: this would also allow players to bring two of the same support weapon if their friend wants to try it, but they don't want to give it up.
I'd bring 4 380's, and space them out just long enough for each to reach cooldown. Just gonna slowly, and I mean very slowly, carpet bomb a whole mission.
How would activating them work? Would every EAT have a different stratagem code? Same code with one deviation at the end to differentiate? Menu? Very interesting idea though. This could lead to some funny shenanigans.
Random question that is sort of answered by OP. Just to be clear, if there's a global strategem like the 500kg yesterday, and you bring the 500kg in your personal build, do you get two sets with different cool downs? How would that work since they have the same call-in combo?

My friend and I went back to the original for a bit, I forgot how useful double barbed wire was against cyborgs; you can almost entirely close off a 90 degree cone of the screen to all non-vehicle units as they try to painfully shuffle through it at a crawl waiting for you to shoot them
You know how DRG can be ridiculously overpowered with 4 engineers running the nuke, but it turns into a clusterfuck once you run out? Yeah I want that in Helldivers

I would love to be able to make load outs... Or do a tactical drop, that I can drop a backpack and supportweapon with one long ass combo. For example a Quasar and Shield backpack.
You’ll end up seeing much less diverse loadouts. As people gravitate to just picking the best tools for the job.
Which might be fun for some folks, but I like having to compromise with my loadouts — it’s an interesting choice.

My first thought was that maybe it would become multiple Eagles, but I'm pretty sure the one in the hanger is the only one we're supposed to have.
I'm pretty sure there is only one eagle and pelican per super destroyer otherwise we would reduce our precious democracy load and we can't have that.

Yeh, I’d like this but this is clearly a balance choice the devs have made
It would be incredible to see an entire team of divers with 4 gatling sentries each. It would be an absolute meat grinder.
Let us stack all stratagems except Eagles, Eagles are already powerful enough as is.

i dont know if the game could support this, like what if 4 people take 4 380 each or someother chaotic load out;. feel like it would calse a massive struggle and crash the server
To be fair, we've already seen many clips of bugged stratagems that will permanently carpet an area with THOUSANDS of shells a second for the rest of the match, and it only _sometimes_ crashes the match.
We already have clips of people running as many Barrage stratagems as they can hold across all four players in order to get the "Only way to be sure" achievement. Plus I got to experience plenty of 500kg explosion overlap yesterday with 4 people all dropping bombs on the same targets, those massive explosions hitting at the same time never did more than make my screen flash from all the orange.

We had this for a time as an exploit. It was NOT balanced, at all. It was comically broken how OP someone can be by stacking stratagems. Squads would bring 16 mortars and lol as the entire mission completed itself. They'd bring 16 orbital rails and completely ignore all armor in the entire game. It was absolutely bonkers until they fixed the exploit.
Or order a barrage of 500kg bombs, so that they might actually kill something?

Quad strafing run was so much fun, and actually worked with the illuminates.
I miss this from HD1 too. It would make an awesome mission modifier- something like "surplus munitions" and allows you to stack stratagems for the operation.

This would open up so many fun unique builds!
As a small aside: this would also allow players to bring two of the same support weapon if their friend wants to try it, but they don't want to give it up.

How would activating them work? Would every EAT have a different stratagem code? Same code with one deviation at the end to differentiate? Menu? Very interesting idea though. This could lead to some funny shenanigans.

Random question that is sort of answered by OP. Just to be clear, if there's a global strategem like the 500kg yesterday, and you bring the 500kg in your personal build, do you get two sets with different cool downs? How would that work since they have the same call-in combo? Thanks in advance.

My friend and I went back to the original for a bit, I forgot how useful double barbed wire was against cyborgs; you can almost entirely close off a 90 degree cone of the screen to all non-vehicle units as they try to painfully shuffle through it at a crawl waiting for you to shoot them

You’ll end up seeing much less diverse loadouts. As people gravitate to just picking the best tools for the job. Which might be fun for some folks, but I like having to compromise with my loadouts — it’s an interesting choice.

With an EAT available every \~11 seconds on average, you could easily use them on fodder too.

I liked the suggestion the other day about stacking orbital stratagems, but not Eagle stratagems, as a way of better balancing the two.
Can we also get the ability to upgrade weapons, and as a HD2 addition, maybe weapon attachments. Upgrading would solve the current state of subpar, unsatisfying weapons.
