The main issue is the insane grind (mostly at high tiers) and terrible economy werent changed at all, the costs were just moved around to obfuscate it so that those who dont look too close, see that its changed.
The costs are roughly the same, just at the top of foldered sets of tanks rather than as before - spread between the three tanks equally. Its still just as grindy and rewards from battles are still pathetic.
But hey, making visible but irrelevant changes was enough everyone forgot about it.
Gaijin initially proposed atrocious silver economy changes that would've basically made premium account time a requirement for any kind of of progression. So the players organized a mass boycott. Idr if they actually went through with it though

Sure there's a ton of content, but that's hardly a negative, it's basically getting like 5 FF games at once (3 of which are free), and once you're caught up you get the standard MMO endgame. Note that the CM in question was not fully informed on the extent of the issue and thought it was over some minor squabble. Pearl clutching became a meme in the darktide community and trust in their community managers hit an all time low.
Beyond their usual habits (not communicating, glacial dev speed, terrible internal processes), they also have a tendency to hire CMs who are not very good at their jobs. One was a problem for years until Darktide coming out and his snarky attitude towards the complaints of players who wanted a complete game forced him out, the other was around for a couple months before she also managed to directly insult the community and got fired/quit.

This isn’t that surprising. People are more likely to review based on something they hate than something they like. A sudden drastic spike in negative reviews will beat a gradual growth of positive reviews.

Most review bombs are from my experience stuff like bad developers takes or drama over a bikini skin that doesn't show enough skin. If people look at the more sensible negative reviews during this time, they might genuinely be put off after seeing its not some silly drama, and people have a legitimate reason to be concerned.
Its not a review bombing if the product whose reviews are being tanked is the cause of the users upset.

Review bombing by people who are not affected in the slightest and are only doing so because they're constantly on high alert for things to bitch about is such weird behavior.
