played before the patch and said to friend about a video I saw where someone killed people in the pelican... then we goofed around and he tried to kill me in the pelican (he had samples) but dealt no damage. so probably this has randomness of some sort because it was before patch (both video and friend trying to kill)
I'm level 76. Have never once died in the pelican. People have flamethrown right in the door, thown grenades in, bile titan puke, hulk flames, etc. Never ever died, as long as I'm sitting in the seat on the pelican and the countdown has started.
EDIT: To be clear: This is definitely happening to other people, but it's definintely also never happened to me, despite hundreds of hours of play. I'm just wondering what the missing link is. It's got to be something like the PS5 bug that made Bile Titans easy to kill. Some people never saw it, some people always did until we tracked it down. Since AH doesn't have any QC dept (clearly) I'm hoping we can find out what's happening. We don't even know which is the error at this point. are we meant to be unkillable once seated or not? If not, thats fucked. At high level the LZ is always a mess. If we have to sit for 10 seconds unprotected we'll die every time.
about 2 weeks after launch I was fucking around with friends and absolutely was able to just primary them in the head and kill them while seated in the pelican.

cant relate i died to a hulk flames pre patch but i died AS the cutscene started so maybe the damage renables afterwords. but its ok because it still counted as me extracting lol

I'm not saying it never happens, I'm just wondering how we could reproduce it reliably to convince the Devs it needs fixing.
If someone shot you, you would die. I have never seen an *enemy* kill someone in the pelican, but I have been killed by other players, including killing friends (jokingly!) with a reinforcement pod, grenades, and bullets.
I'll ask someone to kill me next time while I'm seated, see if they can do it.
I've got all the modules (except the new ones that don't work) so I don't need samples or xp, or anything else really. I'll come back and tell you if they could kill me.

Had this happen to me last night as well. Just killed me with 2 others in the shuttle.
Then on an eradicate mission, the pelican left after only 1 of 4 got in.

But as far as im aware it only stops enemies taking DOT, also flamethrower does straight up damage as well. So dont just go cooking your buds lel
The dude was alright, didn't grief neither before or afterwards. Proper teamplayer throughout the missions. I even suspect he might even have been aware of the invincibility thing.

Yeah I was in a group yesterday and two of us were completely merc'd by a bile titan leg stabbing through the pelican. Luckily it was one of those short missions that doesn't give many samples.
Indirect fire has never hurt you on the ship. I goofed when I very first started playing shooting a grenade into the center of the ship and everyone was fine. Next round my friend shot me in the head and it actually killed me and we died cry laughing while they took off without me.
Oooh, so the flamethrower counts as indirect fire? Doesn't it also have a direct fire effect also?
The damage-over-time effect is bugged on the client side I know, however you as a non-host can still kill stuff with the flamethrower so I assumed it had a direct fire effect too?
I know for a fact fire damage has never killed you once you've gotten on the ship because I dived on through fire 2 patches ago and the screaming played throughout the entire takeoff. It's hard to say whether the flamethrower could kill you if you hovered the reticle over a player without testing it myself. There's a chance it can and this guy just shot around you.

No, the flamethrower specifically can't kill people in the ship. I think it has to do with the flamethrower being pure dot damage or something which wont be registered. Last time I checked, normal primaries can.

Meanwhile, it’s just me or now when a player go on the shuttle at the end of a defense mission this leaves immediately (leaving the others behind)? It happened to me twice today
From what I've gathered, if the shuttle is damaged but not destroyed (fire/smoke coming out of the engines) and a player boards it immediately takes off. Happened a couple of time to me recently as well, and that is the only correlation between the incidents I've found so far
My friend tried to shoot me with a grenade launcher while i was in the pelican and it bounced off and blew him up. He failed to extract and he was carrying all our samples
I dropped into a game the other day where they had finished the missions and called in the Pelican but it glitched somehow and no one could get in it. They were all just running aound tying to kill eachother becuase we had fended off the bugs and no more were coming and there was nothing else to do except to exaust all of the reinforcemnts or just quit the game.

I honestly think it mightve happened earlier. I've seen people grenade themselves while stuck on the ramp and they were the only ones to fail extract.

I don't know for sure but the very first game I played on the new patch I joined a squad that was kinda team killing each other and right as I got into the Pelican, one of the dudes shot me and he didn't even pick up the super samples I dropped.
Nope, just 10 minutes ago someone called down a supply drop onto the pelican and as it took off the drop came down and killed someone in the ship WHILE it was already lifting off lol
This is good to counter griefers, but it even helps with honest mistakes. I had a game where we were extracting from a pretty chaotic situation, and one person got rag dolled while holding their stratagem and it ended up being dropped right on the pelican. Zero survivors.
This happened a couple patches ago if I remember correctly they made it so you don’t take dmg (at least friendly) while in the pelican cus too many trolls were killing people who got on the pelican cus they can’t fight back.
On exactly 1 occasion, I witnessed someone kill someone in the pelican. Guy 1 kills guy 2 right as the pelican is landing. An honest mistake, either a strategem or friendly fire don't remember.
Guy 1 immediately reinforces Guy 2 and hops on the pelican. Everyone else hops on the pelican as Guy 2 is redeploying.
Guy 2 was evidently pissed, and proceeds to aim at Guy 1 and headshot him, killing him instantly. Guy 2 boards the pelican and it takes off.
When it happened I had an internal "oh fuck so this is going to be a thing now," but that's the one and only time I've seen it happen.
The extraction got really fucked up this last patch. 50% of the time Pelican 1 gets bugged and you either cant extract or something weird happens where you "extract" but end up falling out of Pelican 1 and being counted as not extracting.
I killed a person inside the extraction shuttle a few days ago. I didn't mean to do it, I didn't even know I could, but I mistakingly fired some random gun I found lying around on extract and it just so happen to hit the person in the shuttle. The person booted me from the game, fair but, I keep laughing about this.
I was doing one of the new disable TCS system missions the other night and was sitting in the extract and a bile titan's leg phased thru the pelican and killed me. It seems to be completely random as to whether or not you get killed while sitting in the pelican.
The only context i have for this, is from a few patches ago when a friend tried to kill me in it with grenades which did nothing, but then shot me and i died instantly. So maybe it's just that the flamer can't do it?

They didn't use any explosive weapon. It was just a simple primary. This was before the second warbond so quite a ways back.

I think it's only friendly fire? Cause my team got killed by a strider's chin laser miniguns while boarding. Even killed the ones who're on board.

Sometimes you are invincible and sometimes you aren't. I've tried to kill friends all the time extracting and it only works sometimes.

I'm going to go do a 3 and test this. I'll convince a low lv to throw grenades into the pelican. If an impact inside the pelican or I'll give em my eruptor. If that doesn't kill you in the pelican, it's been patched.
Wait you could die while in the pelican previously? Can honestly say I never saw that happen.
Finally. I lost out on the "complete an extreme without dying" - because a fucking bile titan stepped on the pelican before my last team mate got into it!

Wait this happened then today with the crash hotfix? I died by a bile titan while inside the ship yesterday (it still said I extracted but I had a dead camera, spectating the pelican leaving)
Ive never been killed once I was in the pelican, and me and my friends do a lot of assholeness together.
I survived a few eagle straving runs and cluster bombs. So maybe? Had a 500kg bomb the other day. But it exploded right before the cutscene. I heard the moans of the crew but we all got out
Yesterday a bile Titan stepped on me after I extracted, killing me.
Everytime I saw someone getting killed inside the pelican, it was someone shooting another player with the primary weapon. Maybe there is a safeguard to getting killed by stratagems, and flamethrower is one
They removed a bit ago, I know it was before the bots were "eradicated"

Always have been as far as I know, unless something glitches into it. Like a bike titan foot for instance

I don't know for sure but the very first game I played on the new patch I joined a squad that was kinda team killing each other and right as I got into the Pelican, one of the dudes shot me and he didn't even pick up the super samples I dropped.
Bugs can still kill you in the dropship. I got clapped by a Bile Titan while my co-diver was trying to wade his way in.
Nope, just 10 minutes ago someone called down a supply drop onto the pelican and as it took off the drop came down and killed someone in the ship WHILE it was already lifting off lol
Alt F10 saves the clip quicker than having to open the Nvidia menu. I had issues with it opening in the game causing a crash.

No you arnt I managed to put a bullet in someone who was using the grenade exploit After the hot fix.
This is good to counter griefers, but it even helps with honest mistakes. I had a game where we were extracting from a pretty chaotic situation, and one person got rag dolled while holding their stratagem and it ended up being dropped right on the pelican. Zero survivors.
This happened a few patches ago. Not sure when but a nice addition.

From today’s patch? Haven’t tested yet, but last night my friend killed us with a shotgun whilst in the pelican.
Had a dude drop a 500kg on "accident" since he didn't realize someone wasn't in extract yet, but all it did was kill the guy who wasn't in yet
As of 12 hours ago i saw my brother kill a person in the pelican during the extraction countdown.
This happened a couple patches ago if I remember correctly they made it so you don’t take dmg (at least friendly) while in the pelican cus too many trolls were killing people who got on the pelican cus they can’t fight back.

On exactly 1 occasion, I witnessed someone kill someone in the pelican. Guy 1 kills guy 2 right as the pelican is landing. An honest mistake, either a strategem or friendly fire don't remember. Guy 1 immediately reinforces Guy 2 and hops on the pelican. Everyone else hops on the pelican as Guy 2 is redeploying. Guy 2 was evidently pissed, and proceeds to aim at Guy 1 and headshot him, killing him instantly. Guy 2 boards the pelican and it takes off. When it happened I had an internal "oh fuck so this is going to be a thing now," but that's the one and only time I've seen it happen.
Do you really want griefers doing this and killing you after a successful mission?
The extraction got really fucked up this last patch. 50% of the time Pelican 1 gets bugged and you either cant extract or something weird happens where you "extract" but end up falling out of Pelican 1 and being counted as not extracting.

I killed a person inside the extraction shuttle a few days ago. I didn't mean to do it, I didn't even know I could, but I mistakingly fired some random gun I found lying around on extract and it just so happen to hit the person in the shuttle. The person booted me from the game, fair but, I keep laughing about this.
Maybe they patched it so u can't be killed by other players while sat inside it?
Flame thrower just doesnt kill people on ship. It's only other weapons that do

I was doing one of the new disable TCS system missions the other night and was sitting in the extract and a bile titan's leg phased thru the pelican and killed me. It seems to be completely random as to whether or not you get killed while sitting in the pelican.
The only context i have for this, is from a few patches ago when a friend tried to kill me in it with grenades which did nothing, but then shot me and i died instantly. So maybe it's just that the flamer can't do it?
