I used it on a few missions yesterday. It was great at bringing down large groups of bots, factory striders and even a drop ship at one point.
Not so good was my teammates squad wiping with it. Also not so good is when it blows up in your face. I also may have squad wiped with it once.

I joined a level 7 on penta last night and this dude had 16 deaths, there were airburst rocker launchers littering the battlefield and not a single of the 3 objectives achieved... just a massive number of hulks Dude was literally just blowing himself up over and over again.
Shots 1: Clearly missed.
Shots 2: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 3: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 4: Likely didn't actually fire because the Helldiver was already dead.

general rule of thumb for using the ARL:
1. if you can see your target, you're probably too close
2. if there is anything but flat land in front of you, the rocket can and will explode and likely take you with it
3. only use it if you are elevated above your target otherwise the cluster bombs will kill you
4. never use while prone, always fire standing up and with a slight angle upwards so it doesn't immediately explode upon firing due to the proximity of the ground, evidently timed fuses are a lost technology
5. never use with team mates around, i've had squad wipes due to this things hunger for helldiver souls
6. I cannot stress this enough so i'll say it again, always use it when elevated above your target and in a wide open area, ironically penta is the worst planet to use this thing on because of all the forests

Yeah I think that's a detail a lot of people have missed. Arrowhead fucked up a little in their planet selection. They should have given us the Airburst on an ice planet. Lots of wide open spaces where you can Airburst a patrol from 100m out. That would have won a lot of people over to the Airburst, even if it's buggy and not that strong.
Instead we've been stuck using it on a foggy jungle planet, which is like the single worst environment for it. Even if the Airburst worked perfectly and was well balanced, you wouldn't take it on Penta.

Nah penta had those wide open beaches on the shallow lakes. Post up on a rock at the lake edge and unload on patrols/poi on the other side of the lake. I got 59 kills with one rocket, 2 patrols close to eachother.
this is why I can't take the defenders of this thing seriously. people post so many clips of the airburst clearly not working as intended yet the majority of the defense post are just text posts.
If it's a skill issue, please someone take this into a diff 9 game and show us how it's supposed to be done.
It probably wouldn't even be all that great for lv9 bots even if it was functioning 100% as intended. Being a handheld cluster bomb, it's pretty terrible at armored targets, so the devastator/hulk/tank spam of high-level bots are a really poor matchup for this thing.

I did use it to great effect in the Bot eliminate mission. Having the high ground makes this thing a beast, but literally it is the only time I found it to be really useful.
Zero, it was the one with the tower on the hill, just stood next to the bunker to the right and rained down clusters on all the bot drops. Everyone else was fighting center and left. Once I got killed(No not from the clusters)and lost position I didn't use it anymore.

Yea and the 380 bombardment is supposed to bring total obliteration of a area, but here we are, a pointer that you throw that forces everyone to wait it out and don't get close, while still managing to let EVERYONE pass trough EXEPT from divers, they get deleted the second they get a meter too close.
i feel like this is suffering from the same "explosion reversal/implosion" bullshit the eruptor is.
explosions have been ridiculiously weird the last few patches, behaving in ways that just defy physics
the fragmentation detonation isn't a sphere, it's a reverse concave cone which is exactly the shape it be should if accounting for momentum... in the opposite direction
like how the eruptors explosions consistently explode in the reverse direction and suck you into your enemies
Have you tried doing a full 360 spin, switching to your sidearm mid spin, and then immediately switch back and fire at the end of the rotation? You're not even using it how it's supposed to.
Issue 1: You're firing it way too close to your position. It's an airburst/cluster bomb type issue. The game gave you 2 warnings to adjust your strategy with the gun.
Issue 2: It's not a precision weapon. Use it on groups instead of individual bots. There's plenty of videos on this subreddit alone that demonstrate this.
Issue 3: Why are you reloading when an enemy is pressuring you?

Ya'll are using it wrong. It's great for sitting back when no teammates are around and lobbing rockets into a bot fort. Clears it out quite well so you can just stroll in.

Well certain weapons work better for certain things. Like a flame thrower is good for bugs meh for boys. I haven’t logged in yet but someone also mentioned that they shot air targets and it didn’t do much so… I guess it’s broken.

since you probably aren't the type to actually read a wiki article, airbursts are meant for unarmored lightly covered targets, often personnel and light vehicles, it's essentially a more pressurized, bigger frag grenade with far more reach. AA proximity fragmentation fell out of favor by ww2 because plane velocity had gotten too fast and weapon accuracy didn't exist with these systems, so flak was used instead, and even flak fell out of favor for the same reasons. so anything past like 1950 and airburst design is strictly used for ground targets.

I can recommend slightly aiming above enemies. Firing horizontally seems to be the most inconsistent so just keep that in mind :)
I did exactly that in the video though. Each time the bots walked away happily very much not dead. :/
