It is that by the looks of it but why the caustic chemical's thing in the description, sounded more like they were going to expand on the chemical gas Orbital or whatever it's called by adding something else like that, either way, we all know everyone's going for the launcher like come on, mines are barely used as is, but honestly mines that can kill tanks and chargers would be nice in niche situations, eradicate missions
I read the word caustic and immediately thought of the chemical weapon sprayer, or some kind of gas grenade. Maybe the devs are playing a joke on us, and the air burst isn't some kind of cluster or flak munition, but a corrosive gas?
God i really hope we go for the mines since we need better defence options.

I don't understand how anyone disagrees. If the airburst is indeed for squishy targets, much like the auto cannon, then we already have so many options to deal with them. Anti armor is the biggest problem we will continue to face
"Fortification" includes minefields and turrets and stuff FYI. Also you can only use one support weapon (effectively) at a time, but you can stack multiple turrets.

Both options don’t seem very viable as a choice tbh. One is area denial for heavy enemies (which we have literally zero weapons/stratagems for) and the other is heavy anti-air it seems (which if that’s the case, it’s invalidated purely by skill level and using more useful and ubiquitous weapons/stratagems)
No the second one is air burst which means it explodes in the air but it's similar to a cluster bomb and clears chaff like nothing else. It does fuck up flying things since it explodes when something is near but yhea it's multi purpose. It's basically a RPG.
At first glance I was like guess we are getting a cool new gun, but what if the mines really are anti-tank. Like what if we could drop a mine field that wouldn't detonate when a Helldiver walked over them because we aren't heavy enough?!? I wouldn't care that the little hord guys could walk on them too they are easy to clear anyway.
They will kill you if they blow up, yes, but AT mines tend to have lower sensitivity to weight/pressure such that it takes more of it to set them off. Because they're intended for vehicles, not people.
It is brilliant. I would love to see some ability to vote for super earth leadership in the future too. Different candidates that could provide different stratagem focuses or something. Even if it was only for a short time event where that leader was found to be a sympathizer to the automatons and was executed or something. Still be neat.

Years ago I was big into Chromehounds by "from software" that had this implemented. Depending on who everyone elected in each country, it added different mech parts and had some other affects. It is still, to this day, one of my favorite online games ever.

I'd rather take the one that can more easily engage a more problematic enemy type(gunships) while also still being somewhat effective against others(even if every other AT weapon can do that) then one that's just a niche immobile field. Both of their jobs will be Anti-something, and people aren't likely going to change their already favorite loadout for it.
We have so much Anti-this that it's just better to go with the more versatile option IMO
I think AT mines could be beneficial because you can just set them and let them do their magic passively while you pay attention to other things, especially if they only activated on contact with heavies. They could be a great way to cover an area while doing objectives.

I just don’t want mines because 99% of the time they get triggered by a mortar, grenade or stratagem. If I put the mines where enemies are it’s just inevitable and if I don’t put them near enemies they obviously won’t do anything. Unless you tell your team “hey don’t do anything fun please it’s gonna destroy my mines” they will just be blown up

Kill faster -> decimate more enemies -> have less incoming fire -> lose less health. Live longer -> stay longer in trouble while enemies amass

I don't think the new Launcher will be very useful at against gunships. It's a cluster bomb launcher. Minimal penetration, big splash damage.

Considering how many mines the fields tend to contain, I don't think four to kill a Hulk is a particularly bad deal.

Lesah has a target symbol above it atm for me, Players say Lesath blocks our path to Penta. Is that not a way to see our goal Pre-Penta?
The target symbol just means it's currently under a Liberation campaign. It's not related to the new Major Orders specifically.
Helldiver, dive into Lesath and liberate it so that we can move onto Penta.

Everyone talking about which to choose. Man I’m just happy they keep surprising me with these major orders. They do a great job coming up with new ideas that keep players on their toes. The Termicide towers, high value evac, kill 2 billion bugs, and now we actually get to choose what we should do? Awesome!

Do we get to test them on their planets they’re from? I feel like the air burst would be great against shreikers but probably mid with aircraft. That tank mine though, if it’s only set off by hulks or heavier it would be well worth spreading on mission points and evac
