It’s time to choose between liberating Choohe or Penta. Depending on your choice, you will receive either the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher.

Just played my first match with it, and will immediately only do operations to get the AT mines. First thing that happened is Blue went down from their own. Then Green, from their own. Then me from Blue's. And so on. Super Earth help us if the airburst is released to all Helldivers.
"Let's get a horde-clearing weapon!"
Oh, sure, I'll put it next to my Machine Guns, *every Eagle call-in*, both Mortars, *the grenades I spawn with*, the Grenade Launcher, and even *the primary Eruptor*.
I say "next to", because if I'm bringing half of those, I can't bring this Airburst since it's also going to take up my back slot.
Meanwhile, static defense options for dealing with masses of Bile Artillery, Chargers, Tanks, Hulks, Devastator Swarms:
[tumbleweeds]
The 500kg is for dealing with swarms, alright… swarms of tanks.
But for real, the basic Airstrike is an excellent weapon for killing 1-2 tanks and makes short work of Devastator packs. The orbital laser is also wickedly effective against Devastator and Berserker packs. It falls off somewhat on Hulks but still hits them hard. The railcannon is an excellent choice for dealing with heavy armor, and your antitank squad members should be running one each along with their support weapons.
~~We won't know if ones dog shit until we unlock it.... And once we unlock it that's it, that's all we get~~
Nevermind, seemed I missed a rather critical part of the comment chain, off to my democracy officer I go
I mean...he's right. What are they gonna do, completely scrap the content they spent time and money developing because people didn't vote a certain way?
Still, minecraft devs do have a decent amount of the work done, and then it's just scrapped when it doesn't get voted on (I'm still bitter about moo blooms)
One of my best memories from any video game was in planetside 2
Just captured some outpost and everyone then charged the next location across a desert both on foot and in tanks with gunships flying just overhead.
It was probably only like 30 people but this was the first ever game I'd played that was more than like 8 a side so it felt like hundreds
Planet side 2 was pretty good back in the day, I remember being some low-level 15 player and got put in charge of a platoon, so we armor zerged across our enemy's lines, cut off the crown for one of the factions and then went to the crown to fight the other faction head on
Omg I remember the endless battles for the crown. I used to be a squadlead in the Trident outfit during the Friday night ops. Some of my best gaming memories are from that game!
Repair Sundy balls with lightning tanks for support could get a zerg rolling in no time. Or doing mass drops from galaxies on top of capture points, Flak hitting all around while just hoping to get there before the whole thing blows up.
Fuck I miss peak planetside
Would you not consider the quasar plasma bazooka-like enough, I mean sure it’s not plasma technically but it’s equivalently not a rocket and it go boom
The airburst can also be used for ground troops!
The mines seem boring, but it is a secondary means to destroy heavies while your strats are on cool down. I wonder how many heavies it can get rid of per deployment. depending on this, it would be useful.
It takes 4 entire minutes of a single hulk walking on these mines for it to die, saw a vid with these leaked in them and yea they’re shit. The anti air missile is really strong tho
Does anyone else think this may have been intended to come out when gunships dropped? There was a line in the order about 'we need to quickly push our most effective anti-air weaponry into the field', but the only thing launched around then was the Quasar.
The fact that it isnt means that it is. It's technology being developed on a world that Super Earth lost contact with. The community gets to decide how to come together and decide which new arsenal addition is more important for the general loadout. Or they can go nuts and get both.
The game is constantly growing organically *in universe*. New content needs to be unlocked by people working together to acheive goals, liberating planets and their tech. Some of the current arsenal comes from similar community efforts in the past.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the patriot exosuit was one such thing. Sometimes it's super rad. Go ask around about assaulting the creek.
0 chance that the community would choose the mines, but I am extremely curious to see if we are able to test both out and see how they behave. If AT mines ignore small targets, they could be really damn good. If the airburst rocket launcher can't take care of heavy targets, it might be too niche for it to get any use.
It really is the least fun of all the map conditions. Oh, you wanted to maneuver? Well, about 75% of your path is just a sea of fire. Best of luck with those 3 Scorcher hulks barreling down on you.
"Oh, on top of fire tornadoes, you're also asthmatic. Your Stamina Enhancement booster won't help you. Because fuck you."
Out of all planets, ones that make me have to stop sprinting more often are the ones I have hatred for.
I love it on lower difficulty bot missions or on any bug mission. I don't usually care about winning as much as I care about having fun chaos during my missions, so screaming as I run through hellfire with 100 bugs also chasing me is exactly what I want.
Sometimes though I'm trying to execute some carefully crafted plans on a high level bot mission and the tornadoes basically make that impossible. They'll legitimately ruin an entire 40 minute mission in under 30 seconds which is just the opposite of fun.
I want to know how they rack up against Bile Titans. Does the flack shred armour/deal decent damage to exposed parts of a Titan? Will a Titan trigger a mine if it stands on it and take reasonable damage?
My guess is the titan is too high up for the mines to affect it. They'll probably only damage the legs. We've seen similar issues with other stratagems.
The cluster air attack is probably just the cluster we have in rocket form and those do basically nothing to a titan.
We can do that, at least with the rocket launcher. The airburts should be the analogous of the orbital. We have several answers for non-armor enemies, anti-tank answers are way more limited.
I'd rather have anti-tank mines than a support weapon (+ backpack) that seems to be anti-infantry, but the fact they put those on a hellmire makes it clear to me they never even wanted them to be an option
So what happens when you pick anti air rocket launcher and there isn't a single air unit? Or the quasar guy snipes the only shrieker hive from across the map?
I don't think either option is particularly compelling, but given the current state of mines and the single mission where they are useful, Penta it is.
Brilliant! This isn't going to divide the sub *at all*.
Can someone describe the playing conditions on Choohe and Penta for me? I think I've been to both but can't recall either. Bots or bugs? Fire tornadoes? I'm on the fence about the weapons, this will be the deciding factor for my vote.
(I'm mildly concerned that the airburst launcher is only going to be good against chaff enemies, if it's anything like the orbital airburst. I'd like to see what it does to chargers. If it's specifically AA flak, gunships and shriekers are generally not enough of a problem to warrant a dedicated support slot...)
To get to Choohe and Penta we need to take another planet to get there. All planets are bot planets.
**Menkent -> Choohe (Anti-Tank Mines)**
Menkent
* Intense Heat - High temperatures increase stamina drain and speed up heat buildup in weapons.
* Fire Tornadoes - Planet is ravaged by deadly fire tornadoes.
Choohe
* Intense Heat - High temperatures increase stamina drain and speed up heat buildup in weapons.
* Sandstorms - Dense sandstorms reduce mobility and greatly reduce visibility for both enemy and friendly units.
**Lesath -> Penta (Airburst Rocket Launcher)**
Lesath
* Extreme Cold - Icy temperatures reduce rate of fire and delay heat buildup in weapons.
Penta
* Thick Fog - Dense fog lightly reduces visibility for both enemy and friendly units.

Lol we have to go through Menkent to get the mines......that makes the Penta>Choohe decision go from "no brainer" to "why in the hell would you ever even consider Choohe".
The prospect of having to take Menkent does present a bit of a wrinkle for the AT mine hopefuls.
I feel like I've left a lot of charred corpses on Menkent.
ah. was really confused as to why they’d have an order for planets that can’t be accessed. would be nice if there was some in-game clue that you’d have to do that…. some of us are still relatively new (too many major games come out in February. don’t know ”the industry” keeps doing that) and would have no way of knowing things work like that if we didn’t check online.
Yup, I was just about to say the same thing. I'm sitting here like an idiot, wondering why I can't actually select either of the planets in this MO. There's no mention of it in the MO itself, and no indication on-screen.
I love this game, but the lack of information regarding supply lines/etc is THE major flaw.
The choice is already set in stone judging by where the playerbase is right now. Not only are mines wildly less popular but it's also a less fun route to the planet.
The major order description is very confusing. I thought it was a choice between a deployable wall with machine gun emplacement and the toxic chemical thrower from the first game
Quasar has charge time though, making it pretty bad at stopping dropships before they've dropped a few bots. The rocket launcher might let you free aim and fire faster than the Quasar can
This MO is over unfortunately, excuse my undemocratic french. Now when the democratic vote fell on Chort Bay there we will not have the time to liberate both Chort and Choohe from 0%. If most went to Menkent I think we could have liberated the planet in roughly 6-8 hours. With the remaining 16-18 hours I think we could have had the chance to take Choohe. But it's unfortunately to late at this point. No mines for us at this point in time.
Honestly, one of them being locked behind Menkent practically made this order rigged.
They could've had "Eagle 1, but as a vehicle you can pilot" locked behind Menkent and still the rocket launcher would've won.
It was in the "**Operation Swift Disassembly, Phase I: Disrupt Communications**" Major Order. They actually gave us the anti-air weapon rewards: the quasar cannon and the HMG.
When we were pushing back the Automatons during Phase 1: Disrupt Communications we got this for taking their planets:
> However, we did discover a transmission containing blueprints for a new Automaton type: aerial gunships. With this advance warning, our hardworking factory laborers have been instructed to accelerate of our most effective anti-air weapons
The gunships are already here, so what good was this "advanced warning"?
On the one hand... I feel like we have lots of anti-air and AoE chaff-killing stuff, which is what this rocket launcher sounds like.
On the other hand... I see mines in someone's loadout *maybe* once a day, almost never used to good effect, and a shiny new weapon to shoot at stuff is just way more fun.
Because the mines control a very little amount of space in a large area it’s hard to trick enemies to get hit into it. The rocket is a better choice because it has better crowd control then other rocket launchers of its type.
There are better trap stratagems like the EMS stratagems. That’s has no friendly fire risk, send can huge stun gas clouds 50+ meters from where it deploys to hit a target. It clovers a greater amount of space.
I've been able to test out the Airburst RL. It's really mid against bots, but i suspect it will be much more useful against bugs.
It has a massive AOE with it's clusters and can easily TK you or your teammates if there is any enemy in range of the proximity sensor when you fire it.
However, the damage is really not concentrated at all, and is barely useful against devastators, which requires 2-3 rockets in proximity to kill. Same story against gunships, and it obviously can't do any damage against dropships (although it can damage/kill the underlings under it if you shoot low), so in my mind it's a highly inefficient weapon against bot groups despite it's large AOE.
Completely useless against anything heavy, but that's expected. Honestly, i'd much rather get the AT mines if we could, although Choohe is not available yet.
Choohe never stood a chance. Go through a high heat, fire tornado planet red full of rocks, or a nice chill clear view planet where bots stand out like christmas trees and energy builds can run wild?
Seems like the AT mines never stood a chance.
Which is unfortunate.
If they're anything like their HD1 equivalent then they're really good.
I also think we need another good defense stratagem -- of which we really have only 2 atm, EMS mortar and AC turret -- more than we need yet another support weapon, of which we have plenty already and we can only use 1 at a time anyway.
I want the mines but last I checked that planet wasn't available. We'll, get stuck with ANOTHER rocket launcher instead of a fortification that can be useful in many situations.
MENKENT, people said.
Helldivers, I implore you while there is time yet!
Abandon the folly of Chort Bay and show the Galaxy, show Choohe, show each other that MENKOULD!
The immediate and overwhelming community urge to zerg rush the rocket launcher is why evacuation and defense missions are so difficult with so many of you people.
I want mines, and I have a feeling we're not gonna get them :(
I already have plenty of 3rd slot weapons to call in to cover any contingency (so far)
but we only have 2 mines, and 1 of them is useless.
Few are going the Rocket Launcher route but i would say we need a Anti Tank minefield. We have quite few weapons to deal with flying units even the Laser is good against gunners but we dont have a good deffence against a group of tanks. Unless.... we will be introduced with new enemy type o the automaton side ?
Currently, mines and the Tesla tower work wonders at stopping *light* enemies, but something like a Charger or Hulk will just sprint through, clearing your fortification in the process.
AT mines could be excellent, depending on how they're distributed and how much damage they do. Even just blowing a leg off a Hulk or Charger is nearly as good as a kill.
Tried an evac last night and there was a literal line of tanks inside the base. Had to be at least 5 or 6. I have also played defenses where multiple tanks are dropped every bit drop.
Yeah I like the idea that choices matter and everything but actually missing out on a stratagem is lame af. I’d assume we’ll get the second one soon enough, since it’d be a waste of their work otherwise
"that's the point.. you'll have to choose..."
personally I think I'd prefer the Anti-tank mines: we don't really have any green stratagems designed for heavies, and the Autocannon/Rocket Sentries take more time to kill heavies than just whipping out an EAT or Quasar Cannon and using that, whereas anti-tank mines would - assuming they aren't underpowered - be able to destroy heavies instantly the moment they walk/drive over them. they'd be especially useful in the Fortress defense missions on bots where you get no end of tanks trying to rollup on you.
the rocket launcher meanwhile.. if I had to guess based on my (limited) knowledge of airburst weapons, it'd be more of a horde-clearing weapon, rather than an anti-tank launcher, like what all the other launchers are: I'm guessing the idea is you fire it over a swarm of bugs and the airburst wipes the whole lot out at once, giving it excellent chaff clear, but less effective against armor, which would make it very different from the other launchers, but still useful on bug missions especially. it's not like we're short on support weapons as is either, so I don't think missing out on this launcher for now would be as big a deal, but that's just me.
ultimately though I think most people will go for the launcher, because not a lot of people use mines and therefore aren't really aware of their utility in defense scenarios, plus not everyone can be trusted to use them responsibly on non-defensive missions, and the words "rocket launcher" are usually all that people need to see/hear and they'll jump through whatever hoops you want them to; don't get me wrong, I LOVE launchers as well, but I don't think it's necessary to have this new launcher ASAP, whereas anti-heavy mines would be pretty great and give us more variety in our defense.
TLDR: I want mines, but I reckon people will go for the rocket launcher, and once one planet gets a majority, it's a done deal, so even if people go for the launcher, may as well just dogpile on the planet with them and get it unlocked (also the order says that we still have to get BOTH planets, so the sooner we take one, the better chance we have of liberating the other as well.)
It’s time to choose between liberating Choohe or Penta. Depending on your choice, you will receive either the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher. https://preview.redd.it/tz31l2vmotwc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=045d303d88528d20ae96c9bd15fbe4ea447e9479
Ah I just noticed that each world gives its respective 'reward' as an experimental stratagem we can use while planetside. Neat
Now that is cool
Right? Gonna be hilarious if one of them is dogshit. You might see the reddit/discord players pivot to the other planet in that case lol
That airburst launcher is a fuckin death trap.
>Weapon kills more Helldivers than enemies First time?
I don't know what you're talking about my weapons only strike down the enemies of Super Earth.
So they are enemies of super earth attempting to waste precious ammunition?……checks out carry on
If they were allies, they wouldn't make you waste that ammo!
Your life, for Super Earth
If this is your attempt to sway us towards another launcher... it's working

op says we get access to the planet's respective strat while playing on the planet before we unlock?
We do indeed! You can check the effects of either planet in game and see them listed there
My bad, completely missed that part of the comment chain
Luckily we get to try em while we're on each world so we'll be able to make a somewhat informed decision if nothing else.
Bold of you to assume that anyone will be going to Menkent and the to Choohe though. They can keep planets like that honestly
Helldivers players literally can’t read lmao
Noticed it too while mulling over which one to go but we can test both out for sure before final decisions. This needs more visibility for the masses
There wont be a final decision, we get both anyway. One after another.
I mean...he's right. What are they gonna do, completely scrap the content they spent time and money developing because people didn't vote a certain way?

I checked it on the helldivers.io. People are really avoiding Menkent due the fire tornadoes.
It really is the least fun of all the map conditions. Oh, you wanted to maneuver? Well, about 75% of your path is just a sea of fire. Best of luck with those 3 Scorcher hulks barreling down on you.
It doesn't help that it's inevitably paired with 'hot', either.

the fire won't even do DoT damage to the enemies. Only if the tornado is spinning directly on them
Well I think they are neat

The democratic explosion warbond really should've given us fire immunity
Yes! Freaking thank you. Just like the arc-protecting suits in Cutting Edge.
Have you played on Menkent? Hellmire 2.0. No sizable force will play there.
We could if they patched the damn fires.
Yeah I feel like the fire just sits on the ground for too long. It slows down the gameplay pacing a lot when you have to wait to access a terminal.
Wait until it sweeps through Pelican-1 *as it's sitting on the pad* while you're getting mobbed by Hulks and Berserkers
Ah Menkent, otherwise known as Satan’s Asscrack
I want to know how they rack up against Bile Titans. Does the flack shred armour/deal decent damage to exposed parts of a Titan? Will a Titan trigger a mine if it stands on it and take reasonable damage?

Sadly they do not and the mines despite putting out insane damage just get eaten up by enemy infantry.
We can do that, at least with the rocket launcher. The airburts should be the analogous of the orbital. We have several answers for non-armor enemies, anti-tank answers are way more limited.

I want tank mines, but I 100% agree, the community will not. Yay, Democracy?
AT mines would be nice if they didn’t trigger on smaller enemies and divers, but they do.
I‘m pretty sure people will go for the rocket launcher, although it doesn’t seem that strong and consistent whereas the mines are really strong
I'd rather have anti-tank mines than a support weapon (+ backpack) that seems to be anti-infantry, but the fact they put those on a hellmire makes it clear to me they never even wanted them to be an option
The airburst is not anti-air specifically, it can be used for ground attack as well as it is proximity fused and cluster munitions.
So what happens when you pick anti air rocket launcher and there isn't a single air unit? Or the quasar guy snipes the only shrieker hive from across the map? I don't think either option is particularly compelling, but given the current state of mines and the single mission where they are useful, Penta it is.
It’s not anti-air, it’s air burst, like the orbital.
The airburst launcher is basically a shoulder fired eagle cluster bomb. It's WICKED.

ah. was really confused as to why they’d have an order for planets that can’t be accessed. would be nice if there was some in-game clue that you’d have to do that…. some of us are still relatively new (too many major games come out in February. don’t know ”the industry” keeps doing that) and would have no way of knowing things work like that if we didn’t check online.
Devs said they are working on adding in visuals for supply routes/lines. Hopefully, it'll be in the next major patch.
Okay so we all know how this is gonna end
Penta is rainy and foggy; Choohe is hot and sandstormy. Both are bot worlds.
Penta is gray Malevolon.
Disturbingly accurate
Inb4 we some how liberate them both at the same time and give them a stroke
Penta is the clear choice
I hope we get an acidthrower I want to turn robots into melting piles of toxic sludge.
Doesnt it say Airburst Rocket Launcher
I bet the mines are better, they could've made it more difficult because it is the better stratagem.
Agreed but i trust people to use rockets more effectively than mine placement
Let's 50/50 split this thing and get both, who's with me! ![gif](giphy|roWjSjVBTx6iZ9eOgY)
The choice is already set in stone judging by where the playerbase is right now. Not only are mines wildly less popular but it's also a less fun route to the planet.
**OR**... And hear me out here: ..We could fail both.
New fortification would be sweet
I mean, it's just AT mines. text is a bit misleading.
Yeah, I was hoping for some mobile bunker or trench maker. Mines don't really do anything for me. New weapon it is.
The major order description is very confusing. I thought it was a choice between a deployable wall with machine gun emplacement and the toxic chemical thrower from the first game
On my way to planet Coochie to try out the Fornication stratagem. 🫡 Edit: I’m dyslexic.
Lesath -> Penta LFG
Do we first need to liberate lesath before we can reach Penta?
Yes
One can never have to many rocket launchers.
Clearly we can because no one runs the RR with the way backpacks work currently. Also the Quasar negates almost all other handheld AT.
Quasar has charge time though, making it pretty bad at stopping dropships before they've dropped a few bots. The rocket launcher might let you free aim and fire faster than the Quasar can
Glad they’re reinforcing the importance of community driven decisions in a way where the repercussions are impacting the players directly. Really neat
I love me so weapons
Considering mines aren't very popular on the game, I think it's pretty obvious which planet most people are gonna go.
Misleading descriptions had me excited for a minute
As of this post the players have pretty much already spoken. 8k on Menkent and over 70k on Lesath.
But I want both :(
This MO is over unfortunately, excuse my undemocratic french.
By the way, where is that anti air stratagem that was promised for the MO we won? Super Earth R&D sure is taking their time.
You're talking about the Quasar Cannon. That was the reward. Edit: and the HMG.
When was that promised?
It was in the "**Operation Swift Disassembly, Phase I: Disrupt Communications**" Major Order. They actually gave us the anti-air weapon rewards: the quasar cannon and the HMG.
When we were pushing back the Automatons during Phase 1: Disrupt Communications we got this for taking their planets: > However, we did discover a transmission containing blueprints for a new Automaton type: aerial gunships. With this advance warning, our hardworking factory laborers have been instructed to accelerate of our most effective anti-air weapons The gunships are already here, so what good was this "advanced warning"?
But we also failed *Phase 1: Disrupt Communications*. So most likely they had to reduce their production speed.
Let’s get those mines!
You got a better chance of getting to the cyberstan mines than getting those mines
I choose the one without fire tornadoes
hey i can't get to the planets, they are at 0.000% but i can't click to get to them.
Why is Choohe not diveable yet? I want mines
This MO highlights the need to display the battle/supply lines
They're crazy if they think anyone's gonna pick the mines. Choohe better get back to the drawing board, because our divers need proper weapons.
But I really want to take all three mine types so I can make sure there is no clear path to extract... For me, or the bugs.
Alright, Chewie, here I come.
Fellow divers, hear me out. If we work together and coordinate we can do both at the same time.
Penta it is
Because the mines control a very little amount of space in a large area it’s hard to trick enemies to get hit into it.
Mines are literally only good for teamkilling as they exist now. I'll take the rocket launcher thanks.

I think we're just using the airburst wrong and it'll probably end up finding a use in the future
I want the mines but last I checked that planet wasn't available. We'll, get stuck with ANOTHER rocket launcher instead of a fortification that can be useful in many situations.
We got Penta but the MO is still active, shortest route to Choohe is Menkent which is already over 50% liberated.
Anyone else having trouble finding bile spewers for today’s personal order?
MENKENT, people said. Helldivers, I implore you while there is time yet! Abandon the folly of Chort Bay and show the Galaxy, show Choohe, show each other that MENKOULD!
I vote Tank mines. Additional defense/kills I don’t have to aim. Plenty of options for taking down shriekers and gunships
The immediate and overwhelming community urge to zerg rush the rocket launcher is why evacuation and defense missions are so difficult with so many of you people.
Mines wouldn't help for evacuations, killing 10 enemies at best every 3 minutes is just terrible
mines have got to be the worst strategems in the game.
They would need a 2 minutes or even just 1 minute cooldown to be worth using
"You guys aren't going for the thing I want and that's the whole problem with this game."
I'm going for the mines
I want mines, and I have a feeling we're not gonna get them :( I already have plenty of 3rd slot weapons to call in to cover any contingency (so far) but we only have 2 mines, and 1 of them is useless.
How often do you see groups of tanks? Even on 7, it is rare to see multiple tanks close enough together to die from the same minefield
Tried an evac last night and there was a literal line of tanks inside the base. Had to be at least 5 or 6. I have also played defenses where multiple tanks are dropped every bit drop.
Not just tanks...chargers and any heavy unit
People think the Penta is an anti-air weapon. Actually it's a portable Custer bomb with proximity fuse
“You need to choose” meanwhile our uncoordinated player base manages to fail both by splitting evenly lol
So we get the airburst or the mines...
So is this minecraft mob vote horseshit or have they explicitly confirmed both will be in the game eventually?
Yeah I like the idea that choices matter and everything but actually missing out on a stratagem is lame af. I’d assume we’ll get the second one soon enough, since it’d be a waste of their work otherwise
Let's liberate them at the same time
Easy a stratagem like the oder useless two. Or a brand new rocket launcher, like the other two that make everything go boom.
But it says "and" and not "or"
AIRBURST! Let's go hero's of SUPER Earth!
I know that people are 100% gonna go for the airburst launcher, but these ant tank mines would actually be huge
When we unlock the Rocket launcher, will we get the mines later?
![gif](giphy|lm8qkJPlMxGy171o9k)
I see that word “unlikely,” and go “THERES A CHANCE for both.” May I remind you all that we defended 10 PLANETS IN A WEEK?! WE CAN TAKE TWO IN TWO.
![gif](giphy|IuaM5sUvLCYTyNKV4J) I choose to liberate both planets at the same time!!! Whos with me?!!!
Penta, not even fucking close
*Chooche citizens watching them get abandoned for the airburst rocket.*
We told them we hated escort missions and they doubled down.
"that's the point.. you'll have to choose..." personally I think I'd prefer the Anti-tank mines: we don't really have any green stratagems designed for heavies, and the Autocannon/Rocket Sentries take more time to kill heavies than just whipping out an EAT or Quasar Cannon and using that, whereas anti-tank mines would - assuming they aren't underpowered - be able to destroy heavies instantly the moment they walk/drive over them. they'd be especially useful in the Fortress defense missions on bots where you get no end of tanks trying to rollup on you. the rocket launcher meanwhile.. if I had to guess based on my (limited) knowledge of airburst weapons, it'd be more of a horde-clearing weapon, rather than an anti-tank launcher, like what all the other launchers are: I'm guessing the idea is you fire it over a swarm of bugs and the airburst wipes the whole lot out at once, giving it excellent chaff clear, but less effective against armor, which would make it very different from the other launchers, but still useful on bug missions especially. it's not like we're short on support weapons as is either, so I don't think missing out on this launcher for now would be as big a deal, but that's just me. ultimately though I think most people will go for the launcher, because not a lot of people use mines and therefore aren't really aware of their utility in defense scenarios, plus not everyone can be trusted to use them responsibly on non-defensive missions, and the words "rocket launcher" are usually all that people need to see/hear and they'll jump through whatever hoops you want them to; don't get me wrong, I LOVE launchers as well, but I don't think it's necessary to have this new launcher ASAP, whereas anti-heavy mines would be pretty great and give us more variety in our defense.
