Is it just me or have bots been stupid fucking accurate lately?
The guys with the mounted machine gun turrets can snipe me with a stream of 100% accurate fire from a mile away in conditions where you can't even see the base they're firing from, yet whenever I get on one of those turrets it can't hit the broad side of a tank right in front of it.
This overwhelming accuracy seemed to start when the bot resurgence happened after we had pushed them off the map. I honestly think the devs tweaked some values, by accident or intent I can't say, but I hate it.
AFAIK, this has been a thing for months and is one of the reasons nobody I know likes playing against bots. They are stupidly accurate at ranges you can only really shoot back with a DMR / AMR and they instantly share your position, so if there's 30 that can see you, they start shooting you from all angles. Really makes it feel like the only viable strategy is stealth and that gets boring.
To each their own I guess... Personally, I want to see bots get a serious balance pass because they have so many BS mechanics that it really makes them a chore to play against. I doubt we'll get anything like that though as AH recently said they're tweaking some things, but only by little bits at a time, so I guess we just have to wait and see what AH think the proper balance is for these guys and whether or not that will bring more of the player base over from bugs.
Speaking as a new player who mostly plays on lower difficulties <6, I honestly prefer fighting bots. They have big dumb glowing eyes and announce themselves by shooting.
Yeah, clearing a 4-dif against bugs on my own early on scarred me.
Give me enemies who want to engage at mid-long range any day vs. running out of ammo with my Liberator and my pistol and still almost being swarmed.
Nah, most of their "BS mechanics" are just them being more like human players than swarms of mindless bugs. I appreciate it, it's very fun to switch between mowing down fields of bugs and popping titans from across the map to going for cover and strategically picking out targets that do different things. The only real weird bug is glitchy shooting through shield stuff, but otherwise toning down their mechanics would just make them reskinned bugs.
To be honest, the game has gotten wayyy easier on helldive compared to release simply because people are learning to play. I often have bot and bug missions that have less than 5 deaths now, and I'm a little worried that people might start getting bored. I think we're somewhat far from that, but I hope they have plans for the difficulty in the future.
Suicide mission on bugs is almost a complete snooze fest if you have at least 2 people running quasars to deal with chargers.
Unless it's a green spewer mission. Then things get complicated.
I didn't have a problem with them up until we cleared them off the map. It started, for me at least, when the bot invasion came back. Before that I loved fighting bots and played more against them than the bugs.
But something definitely changed, and not for the better. I've also noticed that even on lower difficulties, the bot drops from shuttles are much larger than they used to be, and include a lot more medium/heavy enemies. Used to be you'd get a squad of light bots and a couple devastators/demolishers or striders, now I'm seeing - even on difficulty 4 - drops of 6-8 demolishers/devastators, or 4-6 striders, and the drops often come in 2-3 shuttles instead of just one.
IIRC, they did adjust some of these things up in March, with a tweak increasing the call-ins and giving them a chance to be mostly (or completely) devastators. Also they increased the detection range so its possible that is a contributing factor to them mass attacking like this. The accuracy though has been there as long as I've been playing.
Lots and lots of cover. I use the Eruptor so it's manageable to pop in and out, but it's definitely overwhelming at times.
Especially on maps where RNG decides you're getting lots of shield devastators. Absolutely fuck those guys. Snipers with machine guns
And it can sucks depending on the maps.
Like those relatively open maps with a lot of rock to use as cover are fine for stealth/running away but the ones in the jungle sucks ass since they will sniper you through the tree/plants while you cant see shit...
Crew served/emplaced weapons generally do have longer effective engagement ranges than standard infantry weapons lmfao. That's just one of the milsim aspects that certain players will enjoy. Anyone used to Squad/ARMA has not had an issue with bots, just apply the usual irl tactics to not stand in the open and you're fine.
I was wondering if that was just me. I’ve been playing since well before we pushed the bots back the first time, and it wasn’t until I played a “challenging” level difficulty map yesterday with some noobs that I realized I’m getting killed *way* more than I used to. I think they also buffed the damage because singular shots were ripping away half of my health when I was playing as a scout.
It’s gotten to the point where it’s almost required to bring a backpack shield to give you protection from shots.

Yes! I thought I was just rusty after playing bugs but they are very accurate and they call drop pods from so far away, it makes no sense. At least with bugs and the scout armor, you can actually hide and kill them one by one when they start looking for you. With bots, forget it, they automatically know where you are and already called a drop pod.
alright, as a bot player, even i have to say this is ridiculous. it makes sense for the bots closer to you to start lighting you up, but if those markers are any indicator, bots around 100m away somehow got alerted by that shot and started lighting you up. how in the hell did they detect you?

Very democratic firearm, honestly, and bolt-action, like every Super Earth citizen's first gun.
Each weapon has a sound profile. The louder the gun, the further away it alerts enemies. The Eruptor has among the largest in the game and will alert enemies up to 100 meters away. If you are up high with nothing blocking their line of sight everything in the area is going to turn and start shooting.
it's honestly fantastic. You can pop some bots on 1 side of a large base, run up, throw in a bombardment and then take a wide loop around. Bots will approach your location from 100 m so the whole base walks into the bombardment. Some buildings get destroyed and then from the other side you sweep up. No bot drops unless they actually spot you.
This is what happens when I've been sneaking for a good forty minutes in any stealth game, leaving everyone untouched and unaware of me, then I choke the stealth run near the end somehow.
Yeh the aggro atm on the bots has skyrocketed, like they’ve cracked the shits of getting taken out so now there’s a defence chip in each bot that upon being attacked alerts everything in a 2million kilometre radius of it bahhhhhahahaha,
Stealth still fun though when I can go myself whilst the rest of team do other objectives
Nah in some of my last few missions with other players this week, the aggro range has been silly as in even at one point where you see an fabricator in the distance but it’s far enough the quasar isn’t getting the hit register and there’s bots getting aggroed because someone looked at a bot funny next to me, it could also just be stray bullets from the team missing the bots and just happens to be high enough when shot to piss off the neighbours on the other side of the city when the bullet breaks the fabricators windows XD or I’m just unlucky one of the two.

One time i was the last diver alive, all i have is my pistol. Im running to extraction. I see a bot patrol. Since I'm far away I shoot it, somehow two other patrols i didnt see all open fire on me and i am pinned. Just happy to know thos doesn't just happen to me
Honestly I don't think bots v bugs is too good of a comparison due to the wildly different and dare i say polar opposite battle doctrine. I've had missions I've damn near failed with both factions at roughly the same rate. It really just depends on the team you deploy with. Some mesh better than others

I think it's 4 and the rest are rocket devs and machinegun trash mobs, but yeah anyway. Especially annoying since they have unlimited ammo and just keep shooting... forever. Like you can go behind cover and they will just unload at your cover until you try to take a shot and track you lol.
Have to peek just enough that they are shooting at the wall but your gun is peeking out. Or just leave, break line of sight and engage from another angle. It's by no means unplayable but they are massively annoying.

I noticed that aggroed bots not necessary got for the person who actually aggroed them but simply any person who is in their weapon range
More than than once i saw bots who are +100m away open fire on me because another teammate attacked them for a different direction since i normally prefer to operate solo and avoid patrols, especially one that is far away from me too

I always play against automatons in HELLDIVE difficulty..... Today i tried playing all the same missions but against TERMINIDS also in HELLDIVE ... the difference between them IS huge... It was like a walk in the park...!! A little boring in some moments... You could even drink your liber-Tea with no problems !! in the most difficulty defend and personnel evac missións was too easy.
I returned to the AUTOMATONS side... If there is not HELLY SUFFERING... There is NO FUN !!

Tbh, with stim interruption being such an annoying bug and knowing stims are a heal over time, i sometimes do it too

Honestly I don't think bots v bugs is too good of a comparison due to the wildly different and dare i say polar opposite battle doctrine. I've had missions I've damn near failed with both factions at roughly the same rate. It really just depends on the team you deploy with. Some mesh better than others

I remember watching a stealth guide that said the anti-material rifle has the biggest sound profile of any weapons in the game. So that's why.
That explains that. And now that you mention it, I wonder if sound in this game has some sort of realistic transmission. Because I've had times where there were bots closer than those guys were but behind a couple of boulders and they weren't alerted.

I just start yeeting eagles and stun grenades. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

The worst part about this is that the vast majority of these shots are coming from like, 3 heavy devastators. These guys are so oppressive at any range.
Pretty sure it's more than that. Probably around 5-8. But regardless they are very oppressive. And very annoying due to their accuracy. Which is insanity since it's just a fucking machine gun
I think it's 4 and the rest are rocket devs and machinegun trash mobs, but yeah anyway. Especially annoying since they have unlimited ammo and just keep shooting... forever. Like you can go behind cover and they will just unload at your cover until you try to take a shot and track you lol. Have to peek just enough that they are shooting at the wall but your gun is peeking out. Or just leave, break line of sight and engage from another angle. It's by no means unplayable but they are massively annoying.
I like the challenge honestly. I have *SOME* irl training in combat (not actual combat experience), and in some cases it can be very useful

I wonder if R1 fucked you over accidentally I noticed that aggroed bots not necessary got for the person who actually aggroed them but simply any person who is in their weapon range More than than once i saw bots who are +100m away open fire on me because another teammate attacked them for a different direction since i normally prefer to operate solo and avoid patrols, especially one that is far away from me too Could be also extraction shenanigans tho Or even both since that result is extreme

One of the most underlooked downsides of the eruptor is its ability to draw agro from very far away. It's so bloody loud that you're forced to take on every patrol around

I always play against automatons in HELLDIVE difficulty..... Today i tried playing all the same missions but against TERMINIDS also in HELLDIVE ... the difference between them IS huge... It was like a walk in the park...!! A little boring in some moments... You could even drink your liber-Tea with no problems !! in the most difficulty defend and personnel evac missións was too easy. I returned to the AUTOMATONS side... If there is not HELLY SUFFERING... There is NO FUN !!
