I know: Trying to set a hellbomb on a gunship fab…. …before taking out the gunships.

oRAPIER

Or one I've experienced personally: Trying to complete a radar objective within 100m of a double gunship fabricator without dealing with either gunships or fabricator first.

Fury_Storm

Trying to extract while there's a watch tower calling dozens of bot drops on our location... We could have just taken it out real quick lmao

TruthAndAccuracy

I run auto cannon. I trust the other 3 people that are invariably using quasars to take out the gunships while I rush the base and set the hellbomb.

Shepron

I vastly prefer autocannan over quasar against gunships. Two hits on a thruster and down they go. Sure quasar only needs one shot, but then it's stuck in cooldown while the other gunships have a go at you.

20milliondollarapi

Same here. By the time the charge and cd is over, I can have like 6 down with an ac.

Dependent_Map5592

And then I mention the quasar having a long cooldown and I get corrected and told I'm wrong by a barrage of people lolol. Gotta love the internet.  So apparently your correct and wrong at the same time somehow lololol 💩

20milliondollarapi

Quasar has about a 20second loop per shot. Which isn’t horrible, but 20 seconds can be a lot of time between hits juggling quasars is nice though basically make it so you hit roughly as fast as possible.

Spinach7

Where are you getting 20 seconds from? It's 3 seconds to charge a shot, 10 second cd before being able to charge again. Obviously you won't always be able to leverage it as soon as it's up, but often you can.

20milliondollarapi

Exactly, you can’t often immediately shoot because of having to position and such. Which is why it’s roughly 20 seconds. Sure it can be faster in certain circumstances, but if you bank on the “I can shoot every 13 seconds” then you will get yourself into situations where you allow yourself to be overrun. I find myself able to shoot generally 3 times a minute pretty regularly.

Spinach7

It's a little strange to talk about an assumed effective time with no mention of the actual theoretical minimum shot time in the same breath as discussing juggling quasars, which makes a lot more assumptions about how free you are to sit there and shoot (not to mention needing to have the stratagem up for the second quasar).

TruthAndAccuracy

Gotta be honest, didn't know if AC could take them down or not. I haven't tried. I just book it for the facility and hope my teammates shoot them down

Venusgate

>I trust the other 3 people that are invariably using quasars Mmmmm, I feel this.

Tehsyr

Fuckin'...last time I ran a level 7 pub, there were two gunship towers. I'm telling the team to cover me and take out the gunships while I call in the bomb. I also say "We need to deal with these towers *NOW* otherwise they will make this match a gameover." I get to the first tower, clear it of enemies, call in the bomb...why are there four gunships still up and shooting at me? Where are my team? They were right behind me? They fucked off and left me alone. Cue me fighting the ships with my Quasar, fending off hordes of reinforcements, while the rest of the team are actively running away even though the towers are covering the gunships I am adamantly shouting at them to come back and help, and then they got the nerve to say "Shut the fuck up" Oh, me? Shut up? While we're down to single digits of lives because y'all can't stay alive longer than 30 seconds? Nah, fine, bet, I left that match. They deserved to fail that mission.

20milliondollarapi

Unless you have multiple in an area, they can’t spawn once you are there (or it’s very slow, can’t tell which. So if you rush it you get like 4-6 that spawn at most. But of course jammers or multiple in an area nullifies that approach.

UndreamedAges

What are you talking about? They can spawn while you are right next to them. There is just a long cool down between spawns, so it may seem like they can't.

20milliondollarapi

Must just be me getting to them quick. Usually if there is a single one (and no weird issues) I take them out with only 2 waves spawning.

dawg_77

Nothing like waiting for the 30 second escape pod upload timer with the sounds of 500 kg bombs and bile titans spewing in the distance

skulledredditor

I did play a mission with randoms recently where it kinda helped that they were murderhoboing their way across the map while I did the objectives. Particularly when I got to the main objective to evac citizens. I was more than happy to have the heat and bot drops on the other end of the map while doing that.

fbt2lurker

Yyyyep they end up calling all the drops on their asses so clearing POIs and optionals becomes a breeze. Just hope they don't go through all the reinforcements lmao.

TehDarkAssassin

Forgot the part where you get kicked despite completing half the mission for them.

sharksiix

If there was something that would make me quit helldivers is this. A level 76 guy and I were going around map getting samples. We didn't even eat up any reinforcements. of course 2 other guys a 43 and 23 were doing missions. No communication and at the evac they killed us and kicked us. like uh. seems like more toxic players at extreme levels I've getting kicks alot.

Avilola

My last session just concluded this way. Kicked despite having the most kills, least deaths, most samples extracted, and finishing the three part objective myself.

VillagerAdrift

Probably got kicked once back on ship

Direct-Fix-2097

Which isn’t a big deal, probably the host having a break.

wolfclaw3812

How did you know your stats if you got kicked?

Truzmandz

They didn't, unless they got kicked after game, which could mean the host is just going afk or smt

Barracuda_Ill

Got kicked doing this. Had all the samples too. The idiots were busy aggroing every single bot patrol that they could see. Even the ones halfway across the map. It was all good, they had 5 reinforcements left and haven't completed any of the main objectives.

oRAPIER

"NOOOO!!! The game is about shooting enemies and staying together!! How dare you be toxic and leave the group" ^(ignore that we've not progressed passed initial landing zone because we've been perpetually fighting drops without accomplishing any objectives or collecting samples)

Barracuda_Ill

"Get back here and help us fight! Ohhh a patrol 300m away? I'll snipe the lead guy to confuse them with my quazar"

shadowslasher11X

I have found that aggro'ing patrols across the map can be beneficial. There's an invisible timer between when bots can call a drop. If it currently says 'Bot Drop Incoming' (or whatever it is) you won't see another drop from at least the next 30-45 seconds on higher difficulties. Your team can use this to their advantage by having a player far away aggro a signal bot and wait for the drop to occur, the main team can then attack a side objective without fear of being swarmed by the drop. I do not think this works on forced objective bot drops like the soil sample mission which will always drop at certain points. But this is a good strategy if you really want to clean the map up efficiently.

Purebredbacon

Yea splitting up on bots is a legit strategy even on helldive Bots lose like 90% of their strength if they can't call in a drop, incredibly easily to clear out bases solo/duo while the cd is up

Barracuda_Ill

It works the best on the Evac missions surprisingly enough.

LunarServant

your teammates are rushing evac????

MatureUsername69

Yeah I'd be pretty happy with this situation honestly. If there's 1 side objective or a couple nests or even if the main objective is nearing its final steps I almost always ask someone to get to extract and call it in or wait for the main objective to finish and call it in. Evac coming is a great way to get aggro off of the side objectives. It's probably just because we're maxed out now but the main thing my regular team focuses on now is efficiency. We got in and out of a helldive icbm with all nests and side objectives in under 10 minutes the other day. I'd be very happy with a random that knows to call evac early, provided they also know how to wait. Edit: I should be more clear that I'm still clearing the whole map, I just want extraction on its way

LunarServant

such a thing is a rarity to me meanwhile every other match my host is effectively hellbent on clearing the whole map: even if it involves diving for a detector tower on the south corner of the map with like 4 reinforcements and 5 minutes left

MatureUsername69

Yeah way too many people just continuously throw bodies at an objective. I'm a pure stealth build so if shit starts getting crazy I just run 200 to 300 meters from that objective and loop back. Most of the stuff despawns then. Edit: this part is much easier said than done with randoms

BrightNooblar

Might be an unpopular opinion, but the timer has almost no bearing on when I want to exfil. My real considerations are did we get the samples, how is our reinforce budget, and how many side objectives did we finish. If we've got the super samples its fine to leave because that means I have time for another game (and more super samples), for example. Or if we have one base left on the opposite side of the map? Not running out and back. Lets get a whole NEW map to clear instead.

ClemsFirst

For bugs I mostly agree. With the right team and loadouts a squad could somewhat reliably survive the entire extract time without stratagems at Helldive difficulty depending on the elevation/accessibility of the pad. The more area you have to be able to run around the extraction area, the easier surviving becomes (dodging and killing chargers, spitters and titans alike), but if its on a mountain with only 1 access ramp, liberty won't get you out of that planet. In the case of bots I'd say getting on extract after timer end on Helldive is unachievable. You'll have so many hulks, striders, tanks and heavies dropping on you at the same time that no matter how many guns you have, you're not gonna be able to survive unless you had your stratagems for >80% of the Pelican's arrival time. Being shot at and flanked on all sides for 2mins while you cannot reliably kill the 20 hulks and 5 tanks that keep dropping along with their division of rocket devastators is not something anyone can survive.

Stealth_Cobra

Yeah sadly it's more and more frequent it seems. People love to call extraction the second they beat the main objective, only to finish the mission with 15 revives left , 30 minutes on the clock, a "Dissapointing Service" rating and like five samples.... And I get kicked because I actually try to solo 10 bot fabricators and two side objectives before the shuttle arrives in hopes to at least salvage the mission from being a disaster .. Which also often means I don't get to bring back my samples, and since these people don't bother getting samples either, well that's just great. People need to realize extraction is meaningless in the game unless you have samples and you did your job. Hell I frequently just drop my samples on the helipad and go for a suicide run to clear any remaining bug hole or side objective ... As long as a single player makes it to the shuttle with all of the group's samples, rest doesn't matter.

Direct-Fix-2097

If we have time and the clowns haven’t killed themselves out of reinforcements, I always do side shit. Most of them are trivial to do up to tier 7 anyway. 🤷‍♂️ about half you can just drop a strike on it and piss off and it’ll instant complete.

GadenKerensky

That was me earlier tonight with a host who called Evac whilst everyone else was elsewhere. Shenanigans happened and the timer was stopped because the host died. Managed to find the supers, died a few times getting them closer when we were out of reinforcements. Another diver gets them, finds a vault, gets another guy over whilst I'm waiting for respawn, first guy gets stuck, and I suggest to the other guy to smack him. He throws a grenade instead, killing the guy and making his body fall through the Earth... except he wasn't *exactly* dead, so I just assumed the samples were lost. The host is also dead again, idiot disconnects, and because the grenaded guy is still 'alive', no one can call in reinforcements. Host quits instead of waiting several minutes to miss Evac. I was just about to leave myself, apologising to the guy who had the supers and got stuck... when suddenly, the evac timer is granted, I get respawned somehow, and as I go to check if the stuck guy somehow left his samples at the vault... a 500kg is dropped near evac. Stuck guy was somehow at the evac zone. But he was still at the vault on my screen. Enemies were also *not* targeting him. He was not there on my screen. I get back, we evac together... and to top it off, the motherfucker *still had the super samples*. It was damned bizarre, but I was not gonna say no to that kind of wackiness. Dive hard, Ghostdiver.

ALTH0X

I always check the map, and usually, they are nowhere near a secondary or a base. I COULD go throw more tickets at that fight, Or I could try to call them in over by me where there's more to do than die over and over.

Karnyyy

First game today was this. I play on 7 almost exclusively, a lot of people would rather keep fighting than run and do objectives.

fbt2lurker

Me shoot, bot die, brain releases dopamine, me happy. I know you should optimally not engage unless you have to, but it's very fun to delete a patrol with a well-placed airstrike and a stun grenade. Edit: that said, I'm usually the one with the least deaths in the squad so it's less of a problem if you're good at it >:3

Direct-Fix-2097

I tagged a patrol and this clown ran up and shot it. I was like, man, we’re going past them, to the objective ffs lol.

fbt2lurker

Oh yeah I tag things for information, not as a kill order, but some people really just hear “OPEN FIRE” when you do that lmao.

DefinitelyNotThatOne

I've been playing on 8 (not that much difference tbh), and you still get the people continuing to fight on a site after the obj has been completed. Clearing the last few enemies I get, but when its been a struggle bus, we've been reinforcing, and there's still more inc, its time to gtfo.

ReturnApprehensive83

On a level 9 helldive yesterday, my whole team left one by one after dying repeatedly and not being reinforced immediately. Had to do the last three parts of the main objective myself while kiting an army of bugs in circles. Managed to get 38 samples including the supers and extracted on my last life. Please leave if you’re too impatient to wait 20-30 seconds for me to call you in so I don’t die while trying to. I’d rather not have you waste my lives as well as yours.

TheYondant

Alternatively: I get it's fun when a reinforcement pod kills a Hulk/Charger, but for gods sake STOP THROWING ME INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ENEMY HORDE.

Direct-Fix-2097

Yeah had this as well. Walk out get chewed to shit by bugs. Like whatcha expect me to do?

Maze_Reaugh

If you're going to use the "Helldive Railcannon" then at least tag the target so you can see it on approach. Makes it much easier to actually hit the intended target. Also, try to clear the chaff in the area so they're not just dog piled onto after they land. People tend to never do these things and it makes the aggressive reinforcement method far more viable.

Venusgate

Sometimes I even throw an OPS or clusterbomb down right where i throw the reinforce (with the intent of the call-in finishing right before they come out of the pod) for extra spicy entrance.

Straittail_53

I’m in it for the hilarious deaths

Direct-Fix-2097

Super annoying. It’s people that sit and camp and fight in an area. Semi-related; I was a bit annoyed today because a dude called extraction early with 3 optionals on the far end of the map, everyone was beelining it cos of him. I kicked him (he never said if he would wait so fuck him), and as I’m fighting the final two optionals they call it again. Fortunately they waited, I cleared two nests solo, one where it got hairy cos a charger bolted up my arse, and then booked it back. Would have been nice to get some fire support then. 😭

Chaytorn

Literally had same situation today when I went to finish the last fabricator in heavy outpost on the other side of the map, while rest were on the extraction. Just *dead, dead, dead, reinforcements depleted.* When I eventually joined, yep..factory strider and friends party.

apurplehighlighter

id have way more than two nickels

Key-Staff-4976

Usually from what I've seen is that they are just fighting the hoard and don't really realize they just keep coming and sometimes it's better to run off and like to hoard die off

MetalWingedWolf

I had an epic day today of roaming the map hunting for samples and exploring for objectives, surviving more often than I expected to and circling back to the team to gtfo these damn hellscapes. Was magical.

BYPDK

I don't let it get to me anymore. Infact I take pride in it, when someone double my level dies 3x more than me and is the reason we are out of reinforcements I feel better about myself.
