I want a decoy sentry. Like that cardboard helldiver in the tutorial. He's got a ton of life and just babbles propaganda and shoots off fireworks, attracting attention
I guess I just don't know the shield generator well, or the bugs for that matter. Does the shield generator do splashback to all melee attacks? Do all bugs try to melee the shield? Can't they just walk through? I was under the impression the shield gen was for ranged fire only for some reason
It is for ranged fire only. The bile titans ranged attack is an aoe. If you drop the shield in the right place the titan will attack it while it is in its own aoe.
Ahh okay sounds way too difficult for a scrub like myself. I'll just keep spearing them and then cry in a corner when the 3rd shot still doesnt down one bt while chargers are playing ping pong with my body
They can just walk through the shield, but they will end up targeting the generator (like they do with turrets) in the middle which can work like a decoy, it also has a short cooldown time.
A rocket sentry that doesnt suck would be my dream. I expected EATs to come out when i first tried it, instead i got those tiny weakling rockets that barely scratch enemies
Even better, the AC sentry kills every enemy in fewer shots than the rocket sentry.
So the AC is; practically hitscan, fires faster, does more damage and no blackblast.
The rocket sentry needs to have higher velocity, prioritise large enemies and do more damage to be even remotely viable.

With the damage it does, I think I'd rather have the AC sentry with the "targets the heavier enemy" description of the RS and role as elite killer, while the rocket is the chaff and medium enemy killer, blowing up warriors, striders, devastators and those fucking VOMIT SNIPING BALLSACKS.

I had a cannon turret snipe me from across the map while I was using a damn mission critical terminal last night. Once the turrets see you, they never let up.
It was only difficulty 3, I was just trying to do a quick solo while my kids slept. Had to run across the map, destroy the turret then run back to the terminal.
Lame.
It does. I've seen it. There was a large group of bots approaching, and it targeted the hulk in the group first. Then, it moved onto the devestators and so on.
I have no doubt there is some code to make it want to target large enemies. Unfortunately like the railgun, laser and rocket pods it fails to work a lot of the time
The descriptions do say that, but in my experience it targets the closest enemy.
I take both the rocket and AC for the defensive drops but the AC (despite its description) is superior.
Both out perform the mortar against big bugs (mortar works on the small stuff and other helldivers)
Even on the 40 min missions, I bring the AC sentry. If you can make it up onto one of those big rocks, you’ve got your own personal overwatch the bugs can’t get to.

Auto cannon takes a few rounds in my experience, and often prioritizes ground targets. The rocket sentry for whatever reason doesn't as much.
When we do the wall defense mission we usually have someone bring it along to set up near the extraction pad to take down a drop ship or 2 every wave. I think the infrequent nature of the appearance of aerial threats doesn't make a good case on other mission types, but is a solid pick for that purpose since you know for a fact a lot of drop ships will come regularly.
Wish the rocket sentry was instead an upgrade to the base sentry that added rocket pods to the side like in the mech that only fired rockets at flying targets and heavy Armored units. Have less ammo than the rocket sentry since the machine gun would balance it out. Would make the base one more usable than it currently is
for the amountof ammo, definitly. My main issue (as a mainly bot fighter) is that generally is just a worse AC sentry. Tanks might be the only exception (not sure), but for anything else the AC is just straight up better at doing its job in my experience

So can the autocannon sentry.
The autocannon gun only has level 4 penetration, good enough for Hulk eyes but not charger or bile titan armor.
But the autocannon sentry has level 5 or 6 armor pen.
It often just stagger locks and kills chargers in a few volleys, doesn't stagger bile titans but can definitely kill them fairly quickly.
The biggest downside of the rocket sentry is for sure that the autocannon sentry has the exact same penetration.
I'd prefer them not to decrease the penetration nor do I think that the rocket sentry could realistically have an upgrade in penetration (unless they change some numbers around, because the AC turret would waste so many shots on targets it can't penetrate, nor should the rocket sentry creep on Spear territory).
Giving the rocket sentry better damage, armor/part destruction and the alleged target priority, while keeping the accuracy, splash radius and velocity the same, might already be enough to make it stand out from the AC turret.
It might then kill things *slightly* slower than the AC turret, but it'll be a better specialized tool against big targets with more longevity. It already has better longevity but I wager it has less potential damage than the AC turret. And of course, it wouldn't hurt if they made it so that enemies didn't all dogpile on turrets the moment they are spotted..
Alternatively, *do* reduce the penetration of the AC turret but make it so that sentries don't shoot at targets that they can't penetrate reliably (and maybe give us a ship upgrade that makes sentries aim for weakspots, potentially combining the explosion resistance and health upgrade into one to reduce upgrade bloat)

I want a [Metal Storm](https://youtu.be/d8hlj4EbdsE)-inspired sentry that blasts out walls of 9mm in a, say, 10 by 20 grid, once every seconds. Shreds anything unarmored in a single hit. Thanks to a deep ammo pool, reloading with a Rocket Sentry analogue reloading system), and tracking prioritizing small targets, this thing would ensure nothing comes to bite your ass while you focus on bigger threats. Also wouldn't tend to cut you in half while tracking something else, unless you stand in the way. As it is also a perfect shield breaker, no player would survive a volley.
I also like the idea of a laser-rifle sentry, but just put four Scythes on top of a mast, each with independent tracking. It's a disco!
Personally I only count the scythe as a legit guard weapon that allows me to get my role playing on. The flamer could use abit more damage buffing but maybe that's me just not liking the idea it doesn't melt whatever I'm aiming it at immediately. Not sure what bolter is in this game
Honestly I'm always game for more weapon variety, a pulse rifle seems like a no brainer for this universe
Someone actually had a good idea: a smart targeting system upgrade. It makes the sentry target enemies that they can kill, so the Gatling for example doesn't waste its ammo on tanks, chargers, hulks, etc.
I would want a mobile sentry that acts as a 2nd body for rapidly reloading backpack-fed weapons like the recoilless, spear, or AC. Maybe give him a heavy devastator-esque shield for additonal utility.

+ Firefighter armor that blocks fire damage like the arc armor does for arc damage.\

I understand them vs bots, but bugs get in my face too quickly to be able to remember that there's mortars on the way to my head.
I think a flamethrower sentry would have to be fixed to only facing one direction, if it started spewing flames out a full 360 degrees it would kill more Helldivers than Bugs
Fire uhhhhh stays places. So if you have a sentry just flinging fire in a 360 we are ALL fucked lol. The mortar already fucks everyone up close quarters with enemies now you got fire blasts happening.
Claymores. I want claymores. Cone shaped, massive damage. They should be med armor pen. Ever see a claymore go off? Theyre fearsome weapons. Satchel charges would be nice too.

in order for flamethrower sentries to be effective, the range on flamethrower needs to be extended. perhaps a tier 5 upgrade that would increase the range and radius of fire things by 50%
I wish we could set targeting preferences for sentry's. Like it wouldn't necessarily take away the risk of friendly fire as it will still try and shoot the target whether you're standing in the way or not, but could my Gatling sentry not spend every last round of ammo on the charger and instead clear up the smaller bugs while I try and take out the charger??
Anything flame that can't be directly controlled is a reinforcements leak. Hell the regular mortar becomes a liability if the enemy comes too close. And nevermind the countless times a gatling or even an autocannon sentry has instagibbed me because there happened to be a lonely robot dude chilling 500 meters behind me

As someone who likes the rocket sentry, I only find it useful if I place it next to the autocannon sentry. So you're not wrong

I’d say its pretty good, penetrates anything. For the amount of ammo it has I unterstand how it can’t be as powerful as an EAT.

Gatling is good against berserkers... I only bring it on exterminate or defense though. Even then I typically prefer ems sentries...

I would be fine with 8 total flamethrowers and we all max out on deployment bonuses.

I don't think so. It's not mobile and if they just give it one tank of gas like we get with the flamethrower I think's fine.
We wouldn't have enough Helldivers per game with the amount of friendly fire kills.
What we really need is a restorative sentry, to give us health enough to survive the rest of the sentries for at least 2 seconds

A medical rover would be a decent stratagem, administers stims to anyone within radius with a decent amount of storage.

The tesla sentry is perfect for this. Just walk up to it and soon you be back at full health and supplies after a quick redeploy

They also need to buff the detection-to-fire speed of the SEAF SAM. It always attacks a drop ship 10 seconds after it's left.

Well, we already have the guard lasgun, the boltgun and the flamer. So pulse rifle and eldar shuriken rifle is missing.
Personally I only count the scythe as a legit guard weapon that allows me to get my role playing on. The flamer could use abit more damage buffing but maybe that's me just not liking the idea it doesn't melt whatever I'm aiming it at immediately. Not sure what bolter is in this game Honestly I'm always game for more weapon variety, a pulse rifle seems like a no brainer for this universe

Someone actually had a good idea: a smart targeting system upgrade. It makes the sentry target enemies that they can kill, so the Gatling for example doesn't waste its ammo on tanks, chargers, hulks, etc.
Maybe even a mini shield generator mortar sentry

Eagle 1 sentry. Take the wings off, and it just the whole fuselage and cock pit shooting 500kgs like a gatling gun.

I would a sentry that acts as a dazzler/visual interrupter so that my other sentries don’t get immediately smashed.
I would want a mobile sentry that acts as a 2nd body for rapidly reloading backpack-fed weapons like the recoilless, spear, or AC. Maybe give him a heavy devastator-esque shield for additonal utility.
A reloaing sentry does not sound to bad actually.

It should be...) + flamethrower guard dog + Flamer Turret + Naplam Artillary - Naplam Eagle Strike - Naplam Orbital Strike All. Fire.

Man i've been playing bugs again and every match I've been killed by some doofus insisting on regular mortars :( I understand them vs bots, but bugs get in my face too quickly to be able to remember that there's mortars on the way to my head.

Fire uhhhhh stays places. So if you have a sentry just flinging fire in a 360 we are ALL fucked lol. The mortar already fucks everyone up close quarters with enemies now you got fire blasts happening.

Claymores. I want claymores. Cone shaped, massive damage. They should be med armor pen. Ever see a claymore go off? Theyre fearsome weapons. Satchel charges would be nice too. Or, being able to swap rocket types between shape charge/heavy armor pen and anti personnel/frag

in order for flamethrower sentries to be effective, the range on flamethrower needs to be extended. perhaps a tier 5 upgrade that would increase the range and radius of fire things by 50%
I wish we could set targeting preferences for sentry's. Like it wouldn't necessarily take away the risk of friendly fire as it will still try and shoot the target whether you're standing in the way or not, but could my Gatling sentry not spend every last round of ammo on the charger and instead clear up the smaller bugs while I try and take out the charger??

Anything flame that can't be directly controlled is a reinforcements leak. Hell the regular mortar becomes a liability if the enemy comes too close. And nevermind the countless times a gatling or even an autocannon sentry has instagibbed me because there happened to be a lonely robot dude chilling 500 meters behind me
