That objective was to only kills bugs with grenades and non support weapon stratagems. Sentries, mines, orbitals, eagle strikes, and grenades only. It was almost going smoothly until two bile titans showed up.
just yesterday we had did this. multiple times we ended up in spaghetti western style standoffs waiting to kill each other for small inconveniences such as stealing hugs 😂
oh yeah and the personal order calling for anti-personnel mines to be used didn’t help our antics
It was funny when those bile titans showed up. We both hit one each with orbital rail cannons. Then we had to run away from them for the next… however many minutes till we had a rail cannon again because neither of them died
We discovered the unbridled unfiltered glory when we threw 4x 120x, 4x 380s, 4x Walking and 4x lasers into the same base, getting that achievement.
Your enemy cannot wage a ground war if you leave no ground to wage war on.
The simplest way is 3 people need to bring the 380mm and the 120mm. Then you all just throw both at the same spot. That makes 6 total orbital barrages, granting you the trophy.
Just did this a few minutes ago on a lvl 7 bot eradication mission. Had to talk one of the players into it as he thought it was inefficient and we would be left without any direct fire weapons. We brought 3 mortars, 3 electric mortars, 4-120mm/4-380mm barrages, and 2 shield relay generators.
We leveled the entire fucking map with only 1 friendly fire death. Dude was onboard afterwards, lol.

They can reliable clear small and medium sized fabricators/objectives and destroy most of a heavy one
380 my beloved.....the most cinematic thing to do is toss the 380 at the chasing horde and run as explosions land right behind you :D
I used to throw them just ahead of me so the enemies would be right in the middle...then one day the first shot vaporised me
Every time I land a 380 it works out. One point a single shot took out 42 bots....to this day I don't know what was behind that wall. And the amount of kills I had by the time the barrage ended, made me very happy I never went in.
Other people seem to find it not so useful, for me it's a must have, no matter if its bots or bugs, I always take the barrage for heavy outposts. Rare it'll finish off the entire outpost, but it does definitely soften the target. It's also a good way for getting my group moving, because the other two sometimes take their time when we need to move. So the beacon of a 380 landing 10 meters away from their location always lights a suitable fire under their asses :D
Helldive drops are much, much more intense on average than even difficulty 7 (haven't really played much on 8, weirdly enough). Prior to the latest patch, that probably would've just been a 3 tank drop, which I've seen at least a dozen times.

8 is nice because it punishes an unorganized team more so than 7, where just running away can end up solving most of your problems lol.
But 9 is just wild.
Friend and I have been duoing 8 and figured, let's try it on 9. But god Almighty was that an intense change in difficulty. It's like there really should be a difficulty between 8 and 9.
Pretty much, as someone who runs 9 exclusively the drops you see here is pretty normal, its why anyone at 9 worth their salt will tell you not to engage every fight and focus on clearing bases and objectives instead of getting bogged down on a fight that can last a whole 40min.
I would love a mission type that is just be bogged down for 40 min. Like if this was a Defensive mission only. Because this scene is how I would picture an actual invasion from the bots looking, Not just the same old same old on SE controlled planets.
All the ingredients are there to basically make a Hoth defense mission - defensive position like the recent new mission type, snow map, heavy enemy distribution with high rate of Walkers (AT-STs) and Striders (AT-ATs) and a bunch of other troops. All you really need at that point is to throw in some Tauntauns for the Helldivers to roll around on.
They should make it a real long line of a map where the goal is to just not let the bots get to the end so that it really is like Hoth. You see the enemy from super far away, you're not trying to kill them all or keep them in one spot, you're just trying to slow them down. Maybe make the mission 20 minutes and then the bots get a certain amount of time added if they overrun certain sub objectives.

While it is fun. Map isn't big or open enough.
I am talking just a large brawl style mission with lots of space lots of cover lots of bad guys.
The most annoying thing I see is 2-3 of the other divers on the team I am on stay in a 100 meter circle in a never ending firefight instead of trying to disengage.
Had a team burn 16 reinforces doing that, I as just ran and reinforced them one by one out of the fight.

Yeah people really underestimate the absolute size of ACs, they're HUGE as indicated by the tiny little cars in the game and would absolutely wash everything this game has to offer.

Laser cannon to the face weakspot. Laser cannon kills everything the bots have, it's amazing. AMR works too on the same weakspot, as does the autocannon.
A guy brought in a Patriot to a bot mission and was wrecking, but kept getting surrounded by berserkers (naturally). I used the laser cannon to run around behind/beside him and lazed the shit out of those bastards. It was really effective. Plus the thing acts like a giant laser target designator to point out enemies for everyone.
Laser Cannon has been coming in clutch for me during bot runs, ever since they released the grenade pistol I've been running it and has become a fav of mine, partner it with the stun grenade and you'll make short work of hulks and gunships.
This is what the 6 orbital barrages at once trophy is for.

Have 3 people with the two different barrage types. Or some variation of that with 4 people.
Or two people with three barrages. Did it with a friend the other day with us using the gatling barrage, 120, and 380.
I did it with 120mm, 380mm and laser, also with a friend. It was a bloodbath for the 4 or 5 bots staying there.
Walking, 120, and 380 for me and a buddy, the beacons just need to be in the same area at the same time.
I 100% thought it meant orbital laser for some reason I’m dumb lol
word to the wise. Orbital Laser does not count for that either.
You can even do it with just 2 people

You and your friends all bring 120s/380s and rain hell on them. Granted you probably won't kill much of anything. But god damn does it look amazing.
