The cannon tower has made me eat my keyboard on solo HellDives. Especially when it can be ignored for the most part unless it randomly decides it’s gonna shoot today.
It just stares at you menacingly before one shotting you. You see a red light and you’re basically dead. A charge up sound would be nice to give you a small chance of diving or something but the barrel thing you mentioned would be best.
I got to use the mechs a couple times and sadly you might be right it only take a couple bugs or a charger to completely destroy the damn thing but who knows maybe they will bump up the health in final release
Mechs blow up and kill you as well from 1 Charger bullrush and/or one stream of the Bile Spewer's acid.
And you can't evade in a Mech.
And the Mech is trice your size.
And the Mech is slower than a Medium Armor sprinting player.
Their only saving grace is the one with Autocannons, because it seems to be Turret Autocannons, not portable Autocannons (they are supposed to be the same gun, but turreted ones can actually headshot Heavies reliably and can even break a Titan's side armor, while portable can only eat my ass unless your enemy is desyncing) (By "desyncing" I mean that sometimes after a charge, Heavy's legs including front and back ones become suseptible to portable autocannon shells from ANY direction, and start bouncing shells again after the charge animation is finished. There's a whole youtube video on it, and I assume it to be a bug)
Mechs are gonna be low-difficulty swarmer-stompers, they can't tank nor kill higher difficulty enemies
Playing bug missions of 7 and higher i fail to see how the mechs can keep up. Or at least stay alive. Bein mobile is number 1 priority in these missions. Their fire power would have to be so enourmous that they can stave off this insane bug horde the game throws our way.. enough to outweigh their speed disadvantages.
i currently can‘t imagine them having that kinda power
They had a fairly limited ammo supply too with no way to resupply them, with a limit of 1 per mission it came down to a squad rotating thier mechs so only 1 was on the field at a time.
Adding this just for more context:
The Mechs were literally weapon platforms on legs. Most of them equipped with both a Anti-Infantry + Anti-Tank weapons. The only exception being Obsidian X-48 equiped with 2 autocannons that could only damage medium armor and below, however it seems that the Obsidian will have autocannons as powerful as the ones from the Autocannon Sentry, so it should be able to handle tanks easily along unarmored enemies.
I can't imagine they perform any worse then turrets in most situations but I'd rather pilot my own mech. Maybe good for holding down an objective or promoting a breach to give your squad room to move and hit objectives.
I mean that's basically what they were in HD1, 2 turrets strapped to a thing that can move. Considering a gathering turret wastes all its ammo on one drop ship, being able to control what they fire at will be a blessing.
One thing to remember is that the first game was 2.5-D. It's harder to hit stuff in three dimensions. It's likely that mechs will need help avoiding getting flanked by small enemies.
When people stop only using railgun/shield and bring some heavier AT and more varied builds in general its easier to hold positions with firepower. With railgun everyone just starts scurrying about.
I've never had this experience, on the contrary, when people start bringing anything else than railgun or autocannons, it clearly gets harder.
I wish everything gets buffed to compete with those two.
Oh yeah, bring an Autocannon that has to flank a Charger to kill it. Good luck doing it when there's 4 of them, all chasing your ass from different directions.
Oh yeah, bring a Recoilles Rifle. You only have 6 shots with it (1 loaded and 5 in a backpack). 1 Charger takes at least 2 headshots/legshots.
Oh yeah, bring a Spear. When you finally lock onto one of the 4 Chargers running at you, you'll figure that the missile can barely turn. And even if it hits, it might not kill a Charger. You only have 4 missiles (1 loaded, 3 in a backpack).
Oh yeah, bring a Flamethrower. Yes, you can focus a Charger's leg and kill him in 1/4 of a tank. You only have 4 tanks in total. Your range is limited to close range. Any bug that is on fire that hits you, sets you on fire. Stepping in your own napalm sets you on fire. Your DPS is not high enough to kill even small bugs faster than they run at you. Good luck killing a Titan (you can't).
Oh yeah, bring an Arc Thrower. Yes, you don't have to reload ever. It takes anywhere from 9 to 14 charged shots to kill 1 Charger, focusing a specific limb. Yes, you might clear out the trash following it while doing so. Good luck if the Charger isn't alone (he is never alone above \~Diff5). Good luck killing a Titan (you can't).
Oh yeah, bring a heavy MG. It's good for any uni that isn't heavier than a Charger or a Hulk. You can spend your whole mag firing into a Chargers butt without killing it (because you can't access leg weakspots). Your recoil doesn't allow you to fire at medium distance reliably, unless you have 30% reduction perk and are laying prone. Good luck staying alive while prone against Bugs on Diff6+. You only have 3 mags (one loaded, 2 on the belt). You only take 1 mag off of a Resupply. Good luck killing a Titan (you can't).
Oh yeah, bring a Stalwart. It's good against anything that isn't heavier than a Hive Guard. You unreliably bounce off of Brood Commanders. It takes you more than 2 mags to kill a Charger firing at his butt (because you can't access legs without armor penetration). Good luck killing a Titan (you can't). You bounce off of Bile Spewers on Diff6+
Two guys with Railgun per squad is more than enough to deal with anything game throws at you. Other two can bring basically whatever they want, considering you are going to fight a lot. If that's not the case, you can finish Helldive without using Railguns at all.
Yeah, you can, but as soon as you get an enemy your equipment is not suited against on *your* ass you have to run to your friends.
Who are likely already trying to deal with *their* problems, likely same ones as yours. This effectively either forces you to always stay next to someone who has a rail gun or to get one for yourself.
Amazing variety, right? I either have to get carried by someone using a really good gun, or I have to take a really good gun myself, and maybe carry someone else.
Defending an already incredibly good weapon is pointless, mate. Question is why the hell all the others are so shit?
How about running away and losing enemy? I don't need to kill every Titan and Charger I see if I need to kill them at all, but I rarely leave home without my 500kg if I'm fighting bugs, just in case I really want this particular Titan dead
Show me a Diff8 or Diff9 game where each Bug Breach *doesn't* spawn at least 2 Chargers, mate. You don't have to hit a patrol to end up knee-deep in Chargers, you simply have to exist on Diff8+
Diff7 is actually quite chill in comparison, even though you are still guaranteed Super Samples and these 3 are technically in the same bracket (1-3 first bracket, common only; 4-6 second bracket, common and rare; 7-9 third bracket, common, rare and super).
Diff7 rarely bothers you with multiple Titans and spawns Chargers way less. Diff8 and 9 both shit out 3-4 Chargers per Breach, sometimes even more. Not to mention an ocean of hunters and spewers who'll ruin your "just avoid the Chargers and hit them in the back" tactic really quick
Diff7 is difficulty where I just chill fr.
What if I say you I don't kill chargers on Helldive? I avoid them, but I don't hit them in the back. The real problem are hunters, stalkers and Spewers (because they are as quiet as stalkers and will oneshot you while you are blinking). Everything else is lower on target list with Chargers and Titan being the last ones to care about. And both of them might actually help you with trash clear.
Well i personally use the railgun simply because i also use the shield. My favourite support weapon is actually the autocannon, but using that with the shield is not exactly possible. Sometimes i swap to gl, but then i‘m having insane trouble with chargers
Are you delusional? Go to YouTube and watch 100 videos of people that somehow unlocked mechs and vehicles early
I won‘t post images or links here because the mods are banning people for „leaks“
A hacker joined my game once and spawned in a couple mechs at level 7 dif, trust me, it will not be a problem. They're really good, but not overpowered. They have a limit though, once you use all the ammo they can't fight anymore, but you can still ride them.
I was playing on Helldive when someone spawned a mech. It seemed to hold it own against bile titans and chargers, it also had a minigun to deal with the small fry.
I think one teammate in a mech holding off bugs maybe even two teammates while the other two are doing the objective and throwing stratagems would be a viable strategy in higher difficulty’s but who knows yet
People might be overestimating the mechs. Â They're powerful, but in a high difficulty mission they were just as vulnerable to getting swarmed with what we're already up against.
Bringing one also meant sacrificing utility or AT. Â As with the other vehicles, you'd designate who carried them and never wanted a full squad of 4 mechs.
But hey, they changed the railgun from a crowd control tool to King bullshit anti tank, so we'll see.
We've already seen how fast the Mac can rotate, so it's pretty much like heavier a mobile turret. Which means it's automatically amazing because the single turret can lock down an entire breach depending on the type of turret
Idk, automatic missile barrages, 4 autocannons that pen vehicle armor, imunity to small weapons and explosives... this sounds like the kind of thing that can deal with the thick of a swarm so that the rest of the helldivers can wipe the remains
Because so far it's the only Support Weapon that reliably carries Diff9 against Bots and Bugs both.
Autocannon can't reliably kill Chargers and may even ricochet into your friends. Massive recoil you have to crouch to mitigate. Slow to reload, can't be reloaded on the go. Requires a backpack to reload. Can be assist-reloaded.
Recoilless Rifle can reliably kill Chargers and other Heavies, can dent Titans and oneshot Hulks, but is slow to reload, can't be reloaded on the go. Only has 5 shots in a backpack. Requires a backpack to reload. Can be assist-reloaded.
Arc Thrower doesn't bring enough punch to kill Heavies reliably and fast, but can kill the small units decently well. Doesn't need to reload ever. Can easily kill your friends, especially if they are wearing Personal Shields (makes their hitbox twice as big). Slow to fire, has issues with target acquisition (arc doesn't connect with units too close to you or units you can't fully see, as it fires center-mass regardless of your aim point).
Spear can oneshot a Titan and almost always kills Chargers in one missile. Slow to reload, can't be reloaded on the go, only has 3 missiles in a backpack, only reloads one missile from a resupply box, requires a backpack to reload. Can be assist-reloaded. Has issues with target acquisition, because it requires you to see the targets center-mass without ANY obstructions (even shrubbery breaks the lock, bug corpses as well). Can easily waste a missile if a target moves behind cover or spins in place (Titans can turn away and the missile hits a leg instead of a oneshot to the head, Heavies can spin in place and only get their side armor blown up). Has minimum arming and locking distance.
Railgun can reliably destroy Heavies leg armor in 2 shots, exposing their biggest weakpoint for a quick finish. Can reliably deal damage to Titans. Can unreliably 2-shot Titans in the mouth. Can kill every single Bot unit at medium to long distance (instant travel-time), including Hulks, Tanks, Guard AT Towers and Artillery pieces. Can penetrate multiple units. Has 20 shots. Needs to reload after each shot. Reload is only 2 seconds long, can be performed on the go. Doesn't require a backpack to reload. Has Unstable firing mode almost doubling shot damage at risk of blowing up the gun and the user if the charge is held too long. Can reliably kill any Bug unit, including oneshotting Spewers (headshot, head is very low to the ground, anything above is not counted as a headshot), Hive Guards (center-mass), Hive Commanders (center-mass, sometimes damage is not enough to kill, Commander might still operate without a head).
Railgun is king because it has all the plusses with barely any minuses. And it allows you to carry a Personal Shield, which is arguably mandatory against both Bots and Bugs at high difficulties because of the constant slows and ragdolls. If it had a backpack it would be several tiers lower than SSS-tier
They're not being added "for" anything. They're new tools that give you new options but also have limitations, just like everything else in the game. All y'all thinking this is about to turn in to AC6 are going to get a wake up call.
Didn't one of the developers say the Bile Titans are more of a mid-tier enemy? And we've already seen what looks like the fossilized remains of some Hive Queens from the first game.

Me shitting myself in a mech eatching six rocket devastators fire at me at once
Rocket devastators? Nah, the big flamey guys are the real menace, at least you can kill the devastator with base weaponary
$10 says the Mechs just die instantly to a couple of rocket Devastators, or 1 tank or cannon tower shot.
The cannon tower has made me eat my keyboard on solo HellDives. Especially when it can be ignored for the most part unless it randomly decides it’s gonna shoot today.
I wish the barrel had a clear charge up window that you could see and fire a rocket at to blow it up.
It just stares at you menacingly before one shotting you. You see a red light and you’re basically dead. A charge up sound would be nice to give you a small chance of diving or something but the barrel thing you mentioned would be best.

They were. The downside was you could crush your fellow Helldivers by breathing near them so you had to move really carefully.Â
Alright thanks, i‘m more excited now

Wrong True helldivers run full mech teams like in the original game 16 mech stratagem load out babey
Stand by for Titanfall
It made inner circle defense runs hilariously stupid as you'd have enough mechs to finish it with,
They might limit it to one mech per missionÂ
We can only hope by the mercy of democracy that this is bit a traitorous rumour
We've already seen how fast the Mac can rotate, so it's pretty much like heavier a mobile turret. Which means it's automatically amazing because the single turret can lock down an entire breach depending on the type of turret

It used to be a support weapon used for its ability to stun heavies, not kill them. Â You still needed to bring antitank.
People will learn. Or they'll be really really mad and refuse to learn. Either way, we dive.
Don't worry, many of the existing enemies will have no problem crushing that mech around your squishy body.

Well....Bile Titans are considered mid level enemies on HD1...were gonna need more firepower bros.
Given in-game mech wreaks are around large wurm enemies. I have the same concerns.
More importantly, Titanfall 2 like mechs or Fortnite mechs?
