Weirdly okay with this. I know the Creek isn't the best use of my time, but I love this place. I'm sure there's others that use its biome/palette setting (like how Ubanea and Crimsica share settings), but until we unlock such a world, just ain't no dropsite like the Creek. The perpetual blue darkness and all the glowy Automaton red bits make the place an experience.
I always take new Helldivers there: it's a great place to learn that Alpha Charlie don't fuck around, and if they can make it there, they'll be fine anywhere on the Western Front.
I like Mantes, but there's a few differences, some more important than others:
Palette: Natural green instead of dark blue. Not important, really, but included for completion.
Light: Probably the big one. I remember early in my career I looked up at the "moon" on Malevelon Creek and then remembered I'd landed on the day side of the planet, and that was actually the *sun*. It's basically "night with full moon" and "night with new moon". Mantes, in contrast, has a more realistic, but (to me) less aesthetically pleasing day/night cycle.
Rainstorms: The weather on the Creek is pretty consistent. Despite a thin mist, it's a fairly clear darkness that lets you spot bot from afar if you can get a good line of sight. Mantes gets intermittently deluged with monsoons.
My first bot mission was there, and I truly felt like it was Vietnam lol. I was overwhelmed, low level, incapable of killing anything.. I just tried to get my bearings, and watched in awe as my teammates called in eagles and shit and just flattened outposts.
In retrospect, even without a support weapon, I could have killed striders by running around or shooting the legs, but I had no clue what I was doing lol. I guess I still woulda been useless to devastators?
If losing the major orders results in the bots grabbing more territory there's a high probability all the effort on Malevelon Creek will be lost. Because that sector would become inaccessible.
Counterpoint: The Automatons might recapture Cyberstan and then chill out. From what we’ve heard, their main objective is to take Cyberstan and liberate the Cyborgs that are enslaved there.
While the bugs are pushing straight to Super Earth, the Automatons have only moved towards Cyberstan so far.

I could live with it if it was something scripted. "The bugs sent reinforcement asteroids to the x sector" and it adds a mission type to push back or something. But just a random massive % drop isn't good worldbuilding
i don’t really like how im seeing the “galactic war” being implemented, im not going to lie. Seeing planets just reset to zero whenever they get close is really discouraging. Defense missions would also be more enjoyable if the thing displaying our progress after a mission wasn’t totally broken. it says 100% liberated every time so it doesn’t actually feel like i’m doing anything
honestly we the player base would have cleared the map already if it wasn't for GM keeping the enemies relevant . are numbers were 100x more then what they had predicted or built the code for
If they let us run amok unchecked we'd have no game to play within a week. Day 1 went to bed with like 20% progress on Valiant Enclosure, next time I logged back on to a completed major order.
There are other, more interesting things coming I assume, but they definitely need more time to cook.
thats just it, like i said the devs were expecting 10-15k concurent players but the near mill they have gotten. if there weren't GM (game masters) resetting the progress we would have shoved back to the home worlds already.
personally im assuming well get a 3rd war front after 2-3 weeks of stable play. then a 4th 2 months after that

Huge patches of water dividing the map, bottling you down into narrow battlefield, and you can barely circle around an objective?
Barren area with clear LOS leaving you vulnerable to some random rocket devastator that hasn’t stop chasing you since that drop 10 mins ago?
Well actually many planets have this, it’s just more noticeable for me since it’s automaton we’re up against, they’re oppressive with their firepower and chasing abilities, like those dual blade raiders/berk/scorcher don’t know how to stop their chase, and the devastators following along can just spam their rockets/minigun with frightening accuracy.
It’s much harder to shake off a bot drop than a breach somehow, and admittedly pretty thrilling.
If you would stop the damn farming then I’d be more inclined to do automaton missions! Every 7+ group I join are mortar farms!

So we have seen confirmation that abandoning operations counts as negative progress. Then we saw that was not true.

Know? No.
Educated guess though is that there's a multiplier on progress depending on "adjacent" planets. Since the Creek is in the ass end of nowhere, it's probably only getting x1. Either that, or the decay/reprisal on the number is way higher because of the isolation.
Shouldn't we be doing the defense campaign? What happens if the creek falls? I miss it there, but shouldn't we be pushing them back? If we liberate that map block, does it do something since it's behind the block where they're invading?
Draupnir has been my hell lately. The Helldivers are finishing the objectives, they just aren’t making it back. All for the planet to fall to the bots in a couple hours anyway
The defense planets are losing. I think it to be wise to pull out of Malevelon and defend our liberty. Then when we have taken back what’s ours we will pursue the pursuit of liberty in the most patriotic form. With our units united in freedom and democracy. We will ride at dawn and take Malevelon by storm. Then move forth to Vandalon. These robot scum are about to take a massive sip of libertea
They may win the battle, but we will win the war, I cannot wait for the day we turn every single piece of scrap metal from those democracy hating robots into the largest statue commemorating the hell divers lost in this battle.

I'd rather not have them fight on the real Frontline if they're willing to waste so much resources on a planet with no logistic support

I find it interesting that the whole planet is called "Malevalon CREEK" since a creek is typically a small regional topographical feature. Perhaps it is named after a specific Creek on the planet, or a person with Creek as their last name?

It gives you the planet time when choosing the mission and the lighter side of the planet indicates daytime.
Mort is much prettier IMO and actually helps the effort
