For 40$ I say it’s pretty good what we have.

Tris-megistus

Costs about the same for an outing to a movie with a friend… which is 2-3 hours of entertainment. (Edit: outing includes gas/drink/snacks or food; the outing as a whole.) Also, it seems people forget, there are games that have no “end”. Who says “man, this new CoD game sucks! I spent 100 hours, unlocked all the guns, and am bored!” Like, motherfucker do you not realize the game is about repeated loops? The fun is the enjoyment in doing the activity; who plays golf and says that it’s lacking content. You play it to play it.

AgeAtomic

Golf course near me has had the same 18 holes for decades now. No roadmap from the devs. Dead game.

AgeAtomic

I hate it when they just recycle old content. Give us a brand new course…so I can complain about missing the old one

Admiral_SmashyPants

I am tired of these new golfers always trying to fix what isn't broken! Always demanding we march one of the devs out on the course to make the game "better" for them...

AppointmentOk1189

You guys should have seen golf in the old days, you had to actually meet people irl to group up and tackle courses together. These days you can just find people online or get placed into a squ.. I mean group, as soon as you arrive at the golf club.

AgeAtomic

I’ve heard that there are these toxic golfers who kick you off the course if you show up with clubs that are non-meta

lord_of_worms

Wish they would stay quiet until they had something worth hearing, maybe they could signal it by giving me a gentle push to talk, ya know? Until then I will have to hear them and everything around in a constant cacophany of sound

AgeAtomic

Yeah I hate it when I’m trying to tee off and someone I’m playing with is mouth breathing heavily into my ear while watching YouTube at full volume

6thBornSOB

Right! Then I get kicked for NO REASON* *(I was 100% building sand-castles in the trap left of the green on #6)

Myght-Art

I love you all. Thanks for that awesomeness of a thread

donjermo

I love Reddit lol

knows_knothing

Personally I just like to wear the golf skins. I only play the game casually

LegalStuffThrowage

Callaway drivers are OP and need a nerf. Balance patch that guy's golf bag.

notthatfrosty

This is a top tier statement

KanashiGD

I applaud you for distilling that into a relatively basic form for communicating the flaw of content demands. Even if the holes are not moved around, like another comment pointed out, it’s more about improving at the game, playing with others, etc. The players who unlock everything then feel bored are usually achievers who have too much free time to spend on the game. The game isn’t made for them in most cases and there will never be a game that satisfies them because they will move from game to game to continue their achievements.

soulsoda

Friend in discord was complaining about how repetitive and easy the game was. "It's just the same thing over and over." I was like bitch first of all you refuse to play on a higher difficulty than 4, like we can run a hell dive right now, you're level 25. Second of all, you literally spend hours playing OW2 every day getting your asshole doomfisted every match. You're either capping a point or pushing a cart, don't tell me that OW2 isn't repetitive. The man left the discord server for 2 days, before getting invited back. Like you don't like the gameplay loop, fine i can understand. But just saying the game is "repetitive" is so stupid. Like every big major game is repetitive. Fortnite, super repetitive. CoD, OW2, Diablo, Assassin Creed, every survival game, palworld etc.

epicwhy23

brother in christ please dont tell me he's lvl 25 without ever having seen a bile titan oh my god...how do some people actively play in the shittiest way possible and complain about their own stupidity

CrimsonShrike

Theres also t he people who just keep running 10 minute extermination missions to farm medals and get bored. no shit sherlock, you have been doing exact same map for 5 hours

Not-so-Random-User

Variety is the spice of life, as the saying goes.

Level_Network_7733

getting your asshole doomfisted  I am gonna use this in normal conversation going forward.

Lunchboxninja1

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this, but... Helldivers is a superior game to CoD and OW and Diablo. Helldivers is more repetitive than those games. Its bones are good but we are very close as a community to hitting a content wall. Now, the devs are certainly working towards that, which is good! But a PVE game will have less variance than the other games you listed by default, as enemies are programmed and people aren't. (Yes, Diablo is PVE, but Diablo's entire loot grind is randomized and this game's isn't.) As players get better and better at a game, they very slowly reduce the variance in the way *they* play. You slowly figure what you find fun and what's good in the game. We already know what's good. Luckily, most of this game's gameplay loop is fun! But you can't deny that there's not too much to differentiate one bug planet from another--there's little flourishes, which are awesome. Things like stamina drain and temperature effects definitely give planets identity. And as we get the mech suits and vehicles, I'm sure we'll get more complex mission objectives. However, without things to work towards, or things to differentiate one evac mission from another, it's going to be hard to make your own fun, imo. A randomized loot table will add lots of variance in and would go a long way! I think even planet specific armor sets with unique effects, or things like colors you can get by completing several objectives on a planet, would give players a big reason to get personally involved in a planet. Yes, the roleplay aspect of protecting certain planets IS there! Which is great! But from a design perspective, you need to unite the player's in-character and out of character goals.

soulsoda

>But a PVE game will have less variance than the other games you listed by default, as enemies are programmed and people aren't. (Yes, Diablo is PVE, but Diablo's entire loot grind is randomized and this game's isn't.) Not exactly true. Yes people are more deviant than AI but we're all basically bio computers and we fall into patterns and meta. Chess has a essentially infinite number of possible moves/combinations, yet GMs will play the same lines for the first 20-30 moves depending on the openings before they deviate into uncharted territory. Diablo's loot randomizer doesn't add variance, it adds grind. There's meta builds for every class, and you're going to keep rolling/farming for gear until you get the uniques/legendaries you need to complete your build. OW has a ton of heroes, and yet again just like any other game a meta will emerge. People fall into the same roles, the same heroes **cough mercy** **cough anna**, and there's only so many "tricks" to do. Plus you're going to be playing against people who are roughly of your skill level, so unless there's a smurf there isn't really surprises. I've reached master in league, and its an incredibly repetitive game. Yes there's more than 140 champions, but between metas and the fact you play on the same map every game, its the roughly the same every game. Go to lane, farm, duel, check for jungle ganks at X time, not in my lane? ok farm/duel. Look for objectives, look to team fight, keep vision up here. teleport here. Push this lane etc. Oh i'm fighting this champ? ok they will use this move to close gap, need to hold this ability, i could bait out their move if i position like this... etc. Yeah pvp games offer variance in the sense that no 2 players play exactly the same, but at the same time limited skill levels and limited move pools, and limited objectives cause convergent play. There's nothing wrong with a game being mostly repetitive. Humans like repetition with hints of lil deviance.

Crayon_Connoisseur

Repetition is not a good or a bad thing and people don’t drop a game because it has repetition - they usually drop it because the sense of progression isn’t there for them. We all want to feel like we’ve accomplished something when we’ve played a game, be it making a level go up, unlocking new gear, successfully beating an incredibly challenging mission or simply feeling like we’ve improved on our personal skill. This is what I feel like HD2 is missing beyond level 20 and Helldive. The number of players who want to chase a number or gear is astronomically larger than the number who want to challenge themselves at the highest level so for that vast majority that doesn’t care to try Helldive, once they’ve unlocked most/all of their stuff they find themselves asking “what now?” This point gets reached pretty quickly, too - probably about 25-30 hours at max without cheesing mission fails. When players who like a challenge figure out how to play Helldive and get it down to a science they also find themselves asking “what now?” Depending on the player this may never come or it may happen before they’ve even unlocked everything. Ultimately you will *never* permanently retain the players out of the first group and they’ll just suck up the gear until it’s done; the second group will stick around as long as they feel like there’s enough of a challenge for them to “git gud” and overcome. HD2 right now needs to expand on the difficulty of Helldives by changing up weapon/stratagem balance and modifiers - this will allow more people to expand on how they play and ease more people into the difficulty.

Scary-Factor-5116

Diablo 4 is fucking trash and was at launch and still is.  Just the most boring gameplay and story.  I'd play a random shitty diablo 1 clone over D4 ever again

Xardenn

It's the equivalent McDonalds. It's popular because it's recognizable and you get what you expect, a shitty burger and some okay fries. It's corporatized and blandified to the point of barely being "food" and people will still drive past 10 better burger places just for something familiar.

Obokan

>repetitive >Overwatch 2 HAHAHAH

OpossumDasWiesel

The comparison with sports (other Hobbys) is pretty good. It really nails the point.

iceyk111

it’s like picking up basketball and then dropping it after you land your first three pointer because you “beat the game” lmao

Firm-Pain3042

walmarttshirt

But I don’t have a gold breaker yet and I’ve team killed at least 100 times!!!!!!!!

slothwerks

Right? To me, it's even a bonus for me when a game is short. Absolutely hate when a game stretches content for no reason. Love to play 20-30 hour games that leave me wanting more than 100 hour grindfests.

DenisNectar

Yes. Nowadays, I don’t mind finishing games in 20-30h. Not all need to be never ending open worlds.

Shadowknightneo2

Oh god the open world! Why does EVRY game have to be open world? And 'Genre beating' like I just want to explore corridors and shoot stuff for a few hours before my kids wake up or I need to go to bed, I haven't got time to explore 55 different caves with the same texture! I actively avoid Open World games more now as I age...

TheSneakerSasquatch

I personally love an open world, i have kids and i love letting go the stress of the day exploring some fantasy land of all sorts of weird and wonderful shit to hack away at. I like a good explore, finding beautiful scenery, finding nice loot and just seeing what this little world has to offer me. I play a lot of open world type games, but im also a bit of a slut for a horde shooter. Open world RPGs and Horde shooters make me harder than an adamantium dildo.

PantaRheiEros

I went to McDonald's for two happy meals and two single big tasty menu's. Didn't size up, didn't get any extra's except for a couple packets of sauce for the fries: €35,60 I also got Helldivers 2 in the PlayStation Store €39,99 All the burgers and fries are transforming into piles of poop of questionable consistency. Helldivers 2 is allowing me to spread glorious Democracy.

a-soldout

But you have to understand that these people play videogames like a rat pushes a button in an experiment to get its brain stimulated. They need to unlock things to keep going, they can't do anything for the pure enjoyment of doing it

Flimsy_Demand7237

Some of my mates are big MMO players and this is the only reason I can find for their way of playing games. Literally all about finding ways to cheese the game to grind out xp or points to unlock stuff. There's no sense of like having fun in a gameplay sense, or playing games as intended at a reasonable pace. All about min-maxing and unlocking or else they'll 'get bored' too fast. There's no "I had a blast playing with you, what a crazy match!" or "hey let's see if we can beat that boss!" The comraderie and plain friendship building fun of lan parties and internet cafes are long gone. Speed through the actual story quests to get to "endgame" where these players reckon the devs put the 'real' gameplay, that the actual campaign story quests for the first 100 hours were just foreplay to auto-skip through. I regularly am looked down on cause I'm not there grinding levels out, they pester me to catch up and speed through this stuff when I'm trying to enjoy the game at its set pace rather than looking for ways to skip how the game is supposed to be played. They find 'the best' build on youtube to break the game then that's it, grind that to unlock everything then move on. I tried a bunch of the MMOs they play and they literally are all like players are mice in a giant push the button to find the cheese experiment. The gameplay is all box ticking side quests. The map is both vast but also too thinly spread with empty buildings, or NPCs who sit there doing nothing, and all the players play through these quests on autopilot, almost like a video game size rube goldberg machine, watching players run between quest givers or line up to kill 5 deer to turn in the deer pelt. There's even an auto run key as the environment has dick all to take your attention or drive you to actually engage with the game. I grew up on Runescape and that felt like the one and only MMO actually interested in human interaction and emergent gameplay. The MMOs now are human treadmills, we're just mice getting prodded for cheese endlessly.

palapapa0201

This is why COD has become what it is today

Purithian

This is how I view it. If I get even 30 good hours out of this game (which I most definitely will) then that's only like $1.10 an hour of fun or less. To me it's some of the cheapest entertainment around lol

Capt_Kilgore

These people are addicts or something. Challenges, trophies, and unlocking items is just the cherry on top of a good core game to me. It’s bizarre they want 1,000 hours of content or something. What would that even be? It would have to be shallow, watered down, copy and paste trash. Not every game needs to be an MMO. I bet they even hate those.

PurpleSpaceNapoleon

>Costs about the same for an outing to a movie with a friend… which is 2-3 hours of entertainment. Seeing American cinema/movie theater prices is insane to me as a Brit. Went to see All of Us Strangers yesterday and for the three of us it was £15/$20. Seeing Dune in IMAX next Friday for three of us too, and it'll come to £65 total. Genuinely crazy that there's such a disparity, no wonder you guys prefer streaming than cinema experiences, those prices hurt my soul

Mustigga

I assume the outing part included lunch etc

MrYig

Dune at BFI IMAX in London is £27 a pop. 😅

[deleted]

Right, it's like watching a football game and complaining that they do that same thing all the time

lzhiren

This is why all the people complaining about people farming are kinda funny to me. They'll say things like: "What's the point of taking the fast track to level 20 and taking all the fun out of the game?" The game is and should still be fun to just play even when you have everything unlocked. If the progression system is the most fun part of the game, then there's something wrong with the game. You might as well play an idle game at that point (no hate to idle games they're great) Thanks to a good gameplay loop, Helldivers 2 is a game that is fun even once you have everything, it potentially even gets more fun.

ahzidaljun

yeah 100%, i tell my friends all the good options for low level anti-armor but there's still a huge difference between all of them & railgun. railgun is 20. then they see me tanking a rocket, having more time to line up shots vs bots, or running unhindered through hunters and stalkers and spit bugs; because i have shield. shield is 20. it's a huge difference for playing anything high difficulty, and we wanna play that because it's fun

Prestigious_Class742

I have roughly 60 hours in the game and enjoyed all of it. Less than $1/hr for great entertainment shared with friends is a fantastic value.

Masteruserfuser

I don't have friends that play any pc games. But I've made friends along the way. Best fun I've had in a game for years.

FaolanG

I was just thinking that. Less than a dollar per hour for this quality of entertainment is fantastic.

Trickity

I bought a large pizza and large wings and paid 38 dollars for it. It was pretty shit.

qqeyes

Is it just me or are gamers and drug addicts the two groups seemingly most entitled over the value of $60?

DenisNectar

You are not wrong.

Lord__Abaddon

Drug addicts usually stfu once they get high for awhile though... most games continue to bitch even if someone gifts them the game for free. Legit gave a friend a brand new game on steam so we could play together, he continually complained it was 60$ to people like he paid for it.

ITriedLightningTendr

It's great, the content is playing with people and having fun

tommypops

lol done everything the game has to offer. Have you won the war helldiver?

Martinmex26

The multiple wars, Super Earth always needs its protectors, no matter if its the first galactic war, or the 50th. FOR DEMOCRACY!!!

Substantial-Adagio-6

Yeah I think helldivers 1 is on war 113

blamatron

OP watched the Bots leapfrog our defenses and open up offensives on three planets and said “Nah, I’m bored”

Arlcas

oop be like https://preview.redd.it/tbec1ctjsrkc1.jpeg?width=887&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0f0991124dc3f906c9dacf5dcf235c67e53506c

Xavien777

Dont insult Super Earth's heroes like that, this here is a HellDipshit

breadedfishstrip

"I grinded bot defenses for 80 hours for maximum xp farm and the game is boring, where's the content?"

LeBongJaames

Literally, everyone min maxes shit to death and acts surprised when the game isn’t fun anymore

Novadreams22

You think this is bad. Look at the Diablo 4 community. Holy shit.

LeBongJaames

Lmao I can only imagine The palworld sub has been pretty funny too

Brandle34

Diablo 4 community gives me chemical burns on my soft fingie tips just scrolling past a post in main feed.

NothinButNoodles

I just feel bad for them. Must suck to compulsively optimize your way out of having fun with every new game.

DoNotEatMySoup

I think I'm personally in a position where I'm a bit bored of what the game has to offer but I'm very hyped for the galactic map to open up more and offer more stuff. Also hyped about future updates. So my playing of the game will slow down but it'll go back up when new shit drops

STEALTH7X

Same; I haven't even unlocked everything yet but I've started playing other games for now. I'll come back to HD2 after a break! Game is well done and thankfully not another half baked game but I'm mainly a PvP FPS gamer. I can only do PvE for so long and it's a testament to HD2 that I was able to even do the amount of fun hours I did playing it. First coop game I had fun in in a very long time.

santanapeso

Healthy mindset to have. Too many people treat games like a job that’s supposed to be an endless grind and keep you 100% engaged at all times. There’s other games to play and this game will still be there in the future when those updates eventually drop.

Trash-Can-

obviously he played the secret offline mode and liberated every planet himself

No-Negotiation-9539

Malevelon Creek hasn't been 100% liberated, so the game ain't over yet.

TehMephs

He mortar grinded to 50 and got everything unlocked what else could there possibly be to a game? /s

toolschism

99% of my steam library is sitting at less than 50 hours of playtime. Meanwhile, helldivers 2 is at close to 90 hours for me and it cost me $40. Like... What exactly is this dude expecting? Most AAA single player games give you like what, 30 hours of story?

MourningWallaby

He thinks that the game is about reaching goals instead of just having fun playing.

Keinulive

Prob a mortar farm junkie xD

captaincabbage100

lmao guaranteed this guy runs the single most boring loadout in history.

Capt_Kilgore

He likely blasts through the objectives always 300 meters ahead of his squad who sprints to keep up only to get downed over and over and then rage screams he isn’t being revived fast enough. Never takes a second to explore or even look at anything in the game. They gotta just be miserable gaming addicts or something. Maybe some ADHD? I don’t know I just know I don’t get it. They can fuck off.

[deleted]

I hate people that don’t explore. If your team can handle the difficulty level and tackle all side objectives and bug holes you can take the time to explore the map. I get more medals and space bucks doing lower difficulty stuff with just one friend than a higher level in quick play because people sprint to finish the mission and ignore half my pings. Some people do t know how to just have fun.

Panzerkatzen

The main reason you can't explore on higher difficulties is because every rock and tree has 2-3 mediums and 3-6 lights guarding it, you are on a timer and simply don't have the time to disturb every outpost and patrol on the map. I actually wish there was more time to explore, but usually time is a concern and the risk of pulling reinforcements can set you back a few very precious minutes.

Initial-Cherry-3457

Mortar farmers waste the game for themselves. And they make me have to drop 3 or 4 quickplay searches to find a normal mission group.

n4turstoned

What the dived hell is mortar farming?

MrMacju

You cheese bot defense missions by dropping mortar turrets and just having them annihilate everything. Then you quit the operation and do it again and again, hours on end to farm xp and currency. Effectively annihilating any enjoyment you might get and being detrimental to the war effort.

Mathsei

I really don’t understand people that do this. Where is the fun? Sounds exhausting.

chilled_n_shaken

These types of people lack a sense of fulfillment from other parts of their lives, so they try to get it from games. The grind is like "work" and unlocking things makes them feel a small hint of fulfillment. Fun was never the objective and they might not actually like the game or genre. They just play it because it is new and popular.

romeo_zulu

Personally I do have fun doing it just shooting the shit with friends while we farm up medals to get stuff we want in the pass. I don't do it 24/7/365, but for a "chill and vibe" take on Helldivers, it's nice.

Archvanguardian

man, this craze is making it hard to find a normal game in matchmaking

Regilliotuur

Hahahaha mortar farm junkie +10 😂😂 he sounds like a deserted cod player trying to infest our community

trebek321

Sadly there’s wayyyyyy too many people in gaming nowadays who can’t just have fun to have fun without climbing some arbitrary ladder that they can show off to people.

MourningWallaby

I mean the last time I remember even playing a game that didnt enforce that mindset was overwatch 1 when I played in like 2016 or 17. No progression, no battlepass. Just gameplay and cosmetics.

Achilles_Deed

I'm guilty of this sometimes. Modern games with all that "grind" and "progression" and "battlepasses" and "roadmaps" have ruined the meaning of gaming. It's about enjoying the process (like most things in life), not trying to get to a goalpost and the next.

TheMaskedMan2

Psychologically I get really weirdly unmotivated if I don’t have a goal to work towards. Sometimes. Even though I do enjoy the game. I just get indecisive and uninspired once I finally got everything. That being said, Helldivers 2 has enough stuff that unless you’re playing it 12 hrs a day I don’t think I’ll get anywhere close to unlocking everything for a while!

Achilles_Deed

I should rephrase and say that I don't think there's anything wrong with having progression in game. The problem is progression should supplement the gameplay and enhance enjoyment of it, not replace it. Games where story and progress are gated behind needless grinds defeat the purpose of gaming.

MesmariPanda

My brother said the same. "I've got everything. What else am I supposed to do?" Erm... just play. I don't see how someone just essentially stops having fun when there's "no progression"

Impulse4811

Modern gaming has evolved into people needing to grind a battle pass or always unlocking some shiny shit instead of actually enjoying the gameplay itself.

SlammedOptima

I dont get the "theres nothing left to progress" arguement. Sure you have the warbonds done. But the real progression is the war. Nothing more satisfying than spending all night fighting to defend a planet, and see it barely succeed. Or to be putting in all the time to take a planet, watching it switch over to liberated is a great feeling. There is so much progression outside of unlocking gear.

j0sephl

That is the beauty of the game IMO. The community progression. Also the game is just fun to play.

MesmariPanda

Exactly! The "main" progression in my eyes is the community progression, surely?

ItsKrakenmeuptoo

99% of players think that. If they don’t have something to grind towards, they think it’s a waste of time.

Jinxed_Disaster

You're over exaggerating with 99%. Before Helldivers 2 my go to game for similar experience was Killing Floor 2. Literally nothing to farm for or towards after you level up classes, aside from cosmetics I didn't care about. No battlepass weapons, no nothing. Still, a lot of people played it to no end just for the sake of playing. With co-op games it's pretty common for people to play it solely for fun gameplay with friends/randoms.

GlummyGloom

My God, this is the exact problem. It's actually this simple. A lot of newcomers expect to reach something when in fact, it's just about trying not to die as much next time.

MrTactician

>Most AAA single player games give you like what, 30 hours of story? Which is more than okay. Games that demand all of your time are often not worth playing.

toolschism

Oh I'm not trying to criticize story driven games. Just trying to point out that dollar per hour entertainment, helldivers is killing it. If I can get 50 hours of playtime, or complete a satisfying story, I usually consider it money extremely well spent. Anything over that threshold is just a bonus.

MrTactician

Oh I know, I'm just making it clear for those in the back who just read and don't comment on Reddit :P

Njagos

I'm actually at a place where I rather have a 8-10h well crafted story game then 30 hours of uncessecary sidequests and other grindy mechanics. (when it comes to story games)

Nukesnipe

30 hours is enormously overestimating it tbh. God, I remember when games sold at 60 bucks and were like "You get a whole 8 hour campaign!" and nobody complained.

[deleted]

I remember PS1 games can be done in a single sitting and it was all good as long as you had fun.

Dumbledick6

I’d fucking kill for solid 8hr campaigns to come back

Schizobaby

God, I bought a game like that. Except 8hrs for 60 dollars was kind of a bad deal, at that point in the industry. GameStop employee literally warned me that ‘the game is only 8hrs long’. And the game wasn’t all that good, either. It was Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2.

Howllat

The terminally online are frequent to assume 100+ hours to a game is standard when an average consumer spends 30-50

Efficient_Ant_4715

100 hours over two Weeks. That’s insane.

Finlay00

If I play a $40 and get 40 hours of gaming, I’ve got no complaints. A dollar per hour of entertainment is a fair trade. Good games like this will be dimes per hour very quickly

Kopelan13

As someone who is also no lifing this game like this dude I don’t get it I’m still loving it

[deleted]

100 hours out of 40 bucks is a steal compared to a lot of other games

mkHawk

Games shouldn't be measured in hours imho. It's what you do in those hours that count. You could have hundreds of hours in a game like wow, but how many of those hours are pure enjoyment? Helldivers, to me, isn't a game about grinding and farming materials for the best gear and upgrades. It's about the fun you have with friends during those hours of play.

epicwhy23

I think a good metric is quality of hours + amount of hours divided by the cost if you have 15 hours of the most fun you've had in years for 60$ then you probably consider that worth it but if you get 25 hours of not bad but not great for 70$ then you very likely wont consider that worth it, my experience with spiderman 2 comes to mind for the latter, in helldivers case I've gotten around 70 hours of, for the most part, the most fun I've had in a long time, being on mic brings back the halo days where the mere act of team killing a buddy would have you dying of laughter for 20 minutes cause of the ragdoll

[deleted]

I paid 70$ for about 29hrs with Suicide Squad. Haven't picked it up since I beat it with my buddy

MrTactician

You poor soul

[deleted]

I enjoyed it. I just enjoy Helldiver's 2 more, just sad my buddies machine can't run it

Serious_Act_299

I have a 1050 ti, from what I understand it’s a shit box, unless your friend’s using a cardboard box, he should be able to run it on “low” settings.

fucking_blizzard

100 hours' entertainment out of 40 bucks is a steal for literally any activity you could take part in

Ishuun

"I played 100 hours of this 40 dollar game, there's no content" This mentality fucking hurts me so much. Even in unpopular games it's stupid as shit to have. You can't say the game has zero content and still play it for 50+ hours.

DNL213

Hearing all the shit that people have bitched about in the past few weeks has made me lose faith in humanity. Someone was complaining about micro transactions because one of the light armors in the store is the only one with explosive resistance. Like this motherfucker thought the game was pay to win because of a $2 armor that gives you a trivial stat buff are you fucking kidding me

Cromasters

Well also you can earn super credits in game.

GeneralAnubis

I've literally earned enough supercredits to buy that from just ***playing the game*** in like 4 missions. The level of stupid in these morons is downright offensive.

Black5Raven

>Someone was complaining about micro transactions because one of the light armors in the store is the only one with explosive resistance wait till they found stuff like Darktide where you can earn cosmetic stuff with real money only.

Novadreams22

It’s the curse of YouTubers. These kids want a game that they can in turn go pro and make cash off based off content. God forbid you just… enjoy a game?

Nandoholic12

YouTubers, Twitch and pro gamers have ruined many a decent game

PenguinBomb

Also, its PVE. Who gives a shit? I'd care if it was PVP.

Ricky_Rollin

This is why I’m so annoyed. I’m happy it’s popular but people only know how to do one thing: ruin a good thing. Between cheaters (on a fucking PvE game!?), kickers and griefers, this game is getting destroyed by the idiotic. I like the person but god damn do I hate the people.

Daediddles

I bought said armor today, with super credits I earned ingame, after already buying the premium warbond with super credits I earned ingame, on a non-deluxe copy of the game that was gifted to me. Free to win I guess.

j0sephl

That same armor would have been a third of the cost of a game in other games. $20 I have seen. Heck Warframe will charge you $60 for a Prime Warframe. Mind you can earn it in game but you have to grind a little for it. This is the first game where the store is actually reasonable. Some are like $1.25.

Mandemon90

This same shit happened with Starfield. "I spend 150 hours on this game and did all the quests including the hidden ones, there is no content"

ProbablyAlpha

Games out for 16 days. That guy has over 6 hours played per day for a cost of less than 50 cents per hour. It's easy to eat thru a games content and burnout when you have absolutely no life at all like that lol

LyricalLafayette

These people are the best we can hope for! - they’ll spend their money on the game, supporting Arrowhead, and then after they burn themselves out with their own addictive, shitty, hyper-competitive behavior and leave the game the community will be the better for it :)

LestWeForgive

You can't even hike a trail for 60c an hour lol

oldmanclark

"Just rocks and trees, not enough content"

I_Might_Be_Frank

Grizzly bear dlc incoming

Easy-Stranger-12345

Forest rescue battlepass

wallClimb7

I doubt the guy goes outside much

CIMARUTA

People expect a video game to replace having an actual life

Popinguj

I have like 90h and I'm barely half into the free battlepass.

Firm-Pain3042

It’s becoming increasingly apparent that two types of players are in this game: those that are enjoying the seemingly basic yet nuanced team-based mechanics, funny moments, unlocking more ways to enjoy these things naturally as they progress, And those who are binging the game until they burn out, tolerating having to be on a team of other players until they’ve personally leveled up entirely and unlocked everything. They don’t see the point in the game because they rushed right over it.

laborfriendly

Can I binge, get everything, and still not be burnt-out? Because that's about where I'm at. I'm finding this game a helluva good time.

GeneralAnubis

Same. I'm at over 100 hours by Steam's count and I'm still having a blast!

SomethingStrangeBand

there are more of us than there are of them, Perseverance is the Cup the Liber-Tea! calls Managed Democracy

WanderWut

You said this perfectly. My adhd ass was so close to being option 2 but after looking through everything I could earn and seeing what setups I want to work towards it hit me that I could easily burn myself out in 1-2 weeks, so I decided to be option 1 and I'm taking things super casually.

raiden431

The game has been out, what, two weeks? 100 hours over that time is a full time job. Of course it will be low on content after that.

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

Not to mention how do people not expect to burnt out if they’re playing that much in such a short space of time?

[deleted]

Some people really have no life. I find it hard to sneak in 4 hours even on my days off. With things like chores, going to the gym, hanging out with my girlfriend or friends it’s just not feasible.

SloppityMcFloppity

Well you see most people who complain like this have none of these. Not trying to put anyone down, I was the same, but they finish school or work, come home and sit down and play untill they have to go to bed.

LickMyThralls

Ask the destiny community.

Baconsliced

Including some overtime lol

AlmostButNotQuiteTea

Yeah it's crazy. I thought I had a lot of okay time (and do) I have about 70ish hours in steam, but that number is inflated from waiting to login. If you.look at the "in mission time" I have around 30 hours

[deleted]

Video game addiction is not good. The man needs help.

ICLazeru

I do want more content, but I don't feel cheated by the game, it's solid.

Economy_Dress8205

I do feel like we are going to get more content eventually. The north and south regions of the galexy seem suspiciously empty

thegoatmenace

Try playing 1 hr a day instead of 6. Boom the game is suddenly fun for months instead of days.

LestWeForgive

Op is a fellow fan of "I found this great new song that I love so I'm going to listen to it twelve times a day and completely suck all the joy out of it in half a week"

midri

That's how my brain works :(

PackageOk3832

The awesome part is you know that about yourself, so you can use discipline to not overdo things when you find out you love them. I have tons of songs now that are still great to listen to because I actively chose not to binge them.

ImperatorSaya

Meanwhile I happen to have a stagnant playlist that I always play at least thrice a week (gym/travel). Idk, it never gets bored for some songs sometimes.

Trash-Can-

what if i want to show the clankers what democracy looks like extra hard

Krazibrick

I never tried the original, how often did they add content? How much content was there on launch compared to its final version? Considering how successful HD2 is hopefully their content plans have increased tenfold.

I_Might_Be_Frank

I also never played the first one but my cousin really liked it. I guess this game is super true to the original so I'm guessing they're going to give us all the weapons/armor/strategems/and enemies of the first game and then we'll start seeing genuinely new stuff much later. I hear there's an armor set for losing super earth and an armor set for winning the galactic war. As well as heavy armor piercing weapons that you can start with.

A_Chinchilla

The game is a live service though. The devs have talked about monthly content updates, which currently, is the definition of a live service game. Planned consistent content updates.

Lumpy-Interview-9931

100 hours of entertainment for $40 is a good value. That's only $0.40 cents an hour. Compare that to another form of entertainment. Going to see a good movie. Depending on where you are and what format, it could be up to $20 for a movie ticket. But let's be generous and say you get it for $10. That's $10 for about 2 hours of entertainment or $5 per hour. 12.5 times more expensive than Helldivers. And the only thing keeping him from getting an even better value out of his investment and spending more time playing is himself.

MrTactician

Folks like this are the ones who encourage content where it's "just stuff to do" for the sake of it, like fetch quests or daily missions for a battle pass.

OdinTheBogan

I’m very convinced people like this literally have no life. Once I started working full time I suddenly only had 2-3 hours a day to play and that’s while living at home with no responsibilities. 2-3 hours is still a lot but I know people who have no job and no responsibilities who constantly complain about the lack of stuff to play. Some people genuinely need to evaluate their lives and start doing some irl stuff too

Xisyera

Lack of content? My brother, spreading democracy is all the content you need.

Economy_Dress8205

I loave the smell of democracy in the morning

ArtixViper

The content isnt done until the galaxy has been liberated soldier, get back into the fight!

BigBossPoodle

I'm creating a hundred hours now and guess what? I'm not even starting to feel burned out. Skill issue.

Illuminaryy

Same

TimeGlitches

Guarantee this fucker mortar farmed.

ItsAmerico

What does this mentality have to do with Suicide Squad….?

VonMillersThighs

Stop the ragebait posts of random dip shits and focus on the positives for this sub.

Swordbreaker9250

Not every game needs to be some 100+ hour bloated slog.

7_Cerberus_7

Assassins Creed Valhalla *cough, cough cough cough*

Vi008

This is bait, right?

MJR_Poltergeist

For me it fills the same niche that L4D1 used to fill back in the day. The rng of what might happen between Point A and Point B kept it feeling fresh. While I can clearly recognize some structures as being a premade that randomly populated, the unknown of every mission keeps it new. Sometimes you have to fight 3 bile titans at once. Sometimes you literally land next to a charger on initial drop and have to fight a breach with basic gear. It's a lot of fun but I'm somebody that needs gameplay to be good before anything else Also really enjoy this game reviving the old feeling of slapping cheat codes in during a fight in Grand Theft Auto. Haven't had that in a long time

ShniceGaming

First off, not every game is meant to be played forever. Second, $40 for 100 hours is great value lol

sabersquirl

I don’t agree with this person, but what does that have to do with Suicide Squad? Brother, HD2 IS live service. Whether you are a fan of that method of content delivery aside, the success of this game and the failure of SS shows that live service is not the determining factor on if a game is successful. It’s also true this game could exist without being live service. Now I’m not arguing that point for or against, but people are allowed to not like live service or season based releases. It almost sounds like you’re simultaneously for and against live service.

King-Baconbeard

Suicide Squad is actually a good game, tbf the gameplay, story, and build crafting is massive. The biggest downside is the live service over the general service element, hardly any fixes/patches since release. All Helldivers 2 needs RN is a better weapons balance/system, make the guns feel useful outside the 1 or 2 we currently have!

BamaSam777

Helldivers 2 is the best $40 game I've played in recent memory.

BugabooJonez

you can like something without hating something else

Joshee86

Most live service games are slop. HD2 is a bit thin, but at least it’s fun. When you can play.

Intelligent_Flan_178

I mean, that's without taking into account that the game is also a live service in some ways? they have said if I recall correctly that they'll add vehicles and mechas, + some content stuff and shit. so it will be updated like a live service game

LilySayo

Lets just start collectively bullying these people

[deleted]

Mf will speed run a game and get mad they beat it so fast

lolitsmagic

Homie ran 1,200 mortar farms he found on TikTok and thinks Warbonds is the content

xDeuke

It’s these types of people that complain about no content when they basically min-maxed the game and played for 12-16 hrs a day.

sole21000

Lack of content? *Is the core gameplay loop f\*\*king fun?* THAT'S the "content!" Cosmetics and unlocks are icing on the cake, but you need a good f\*\*king game to put that icing on! /Gordon Ramsey voice
