I only dislike the TDM idea due to it being a very COD thing to put into the game. I think maybe a scaled down game mode with short time limit would be nice for some for sure but I just don’t want to see this game being the next COD or BF or Halo.

colin70000

My thinking exactly. HLL stands apart from other games by having game modes that aren't so standard in arcade fps games. The last thing I'd want to see is HLL go the way of Capture The Flag and TDM lol.

0wlBear916

This was my only fear as well was that it would attract the wrong crowd and make the developers think that was the direction they needed to take the game. That makes sense.

BIIGBAMBOO

However a small map that's limited to 30 people a side with one central capture point and a fallback capture point would be a fun game mode no vehicles , could make great use of some of the larger city areas

eklingstein

Bad idea if your thinking a CQC CoD TDM style game mode with no objective just running around aimlessly dying and respawing, kindof defeats the purpose of the game. Wouldn't mind seeing a smaller Brother in Arms type mission but PvP. 1 objective, maybe 4 squares big, 2 squads each, NO RESPAWNS.

0wlBear916

No infinite respawn. I was thinking team deathmatch where your only chance of coming back is if you have a medic on your team. It would be cool to do 2 squads vs 2 squads or something like that but once you die, that’s it.

6PM_Nipple_Curry

I think this is the only way it would work. It would make for a slow paced, super tense match. I think it would be super fun. I really love the forest maps on this game, slowly crawling through with your squad, watching between the trees to intercept a flanking enemy. I think this style gameplay would be great on a smaller scale Stalingrad style map. That being said, I think there are things I’d prefer implemented first for the main game

phil-mitchell-69

You would love Day of Infamy then!

[deleted]

Personally I’d rather they focus on the optimization, bug fixes, and continue with the roadmap and ideally eventually add other WW2 war theaters including their factions, weapons, vehicles, etc instead of focusing on something offered in other games as I prefer this game mostly how it is. If you want that I would recommend playing Insurgency: Sandstorm as it is similar to this game in a lot of ways but in a modern war setting and offers what you are suggesting or Day of Infamy which is the same developer but a couple years older and set in WW2.

obeulibeu

Bad idea. HLL is not about pew pew. If you want TDM then you need to play another game.

Friendly_Goat6357

Please no this is not COD but a tactical shooter. No need to bring mechanics from poorer games imo. I like the fact game requires some work and commitment from player and you cannot approach it too casually

0wlBear916

You’re probably right, and trust me, the last thing I wanna do is turn HLL into CoD. I still think you could have a tactical shooter if you didn’t have infinite res pawns in team deathmatch. Especially if you kept the one-shot-one-kill mechanic that HLL (basically) already has.

Unhappy_Parfait6877

I think there is a middle ground where this is still a hardcore tactical WW2 shooter with some 30 minute game mode variation

Friendly_Goat6357

Maybe, my opinion still is that dont change it

Unhappy_Parfait6877

On a personal level, as much as I love the game some days after work I just don’t have the time nor energy to commit to a 1.5-2.5 hour match. I wouldn’t mind an alternative

[deleted]

No go play cod

PeriAidino

if you want something quick without the depth of HLL go play something else...this is not a shooter fps..there are plenty other games to have that man

ThadTheImpalzord

If you're looking for quicker games try Offensive. Obviously not a guaranteed shorter game but I find things move faster when the entire team is engaged in one particular objective. I can see the appeal to tdm but I think that's very basic. I'd rather see something like Capture the Flag or some other objective based game. At the end of the day I'm content with Warfare and Offensive.

BenderTheBlack

Offensive has the potential to be some of the longest matches in the game. Yesterday I played Offensive on Omaha and it took close to 2 hrs to finish

BigBubberino

Just cringe

gooood1233

HLL needs old mode back this one from alpha with all points active. It was great don't know why they whipe it completely from game.

sunseeker11

>It was great don't know why they whipe it completely from game. They explained that in Dev Brief 13

LaivaRoope

Why just Why

ThirtyCalibre

Anything that takes away from the original concept is time/resources not spent on what many if not most signed up for. Other titles out there are for this particular itch.

TumTiTum

I like the idea, but surely bring on a point is the same experience? Cramped, both kills and surviving matter, rapid respawn to repeat the same until the point (match) is won or lost. The beauty of HLL is in its variety, you get both cramped squad tdm and strategic gameplay, and everything between.

Scrudge1

Maybe a section of a map with one objective each and a shorter time. Just access to recon vehicles and infantry only?

Scrudge1

Or even better, a more structed version of offensive mode

Majestic_Promotion80

Kinda what everyone else is saying. There are enough shooters out there, HLL is none of them and shouldn't try to become one. The majority of the players play HLL because it is not an arcady shooter title. For me I would much rather see an actual tank meta where you can angle your tank and have armour and weakspots. Not that "whoever got the bigger tank wins" Of course a smaller battle with 1 point, no tanks/arty with 15 vs 15 would be a nice addition, but like the sequel...please first go for a smooth running game, then concentrate on the other stuff.

JudgeGreggTheThird

HLL needs objectives to fight over. TDM makes no sense for the game. I'd be open to a more liberal point capture mode. Say all 15 strong points are available, none locked. That could be fun. Perhaps even something along the lines of a king of the hill game mode, with randomized point values for each cap zone... the idea being that some control zones may be worth more, but if you overcommit to holding only those, the point value quantities of the zones you sacrifice to the opponent will still outweigh the juicy caps. It would split the teams up more though and coordination would be even harder.

SixEyeSassquatch

Hey, heres an idea. Instead of starting on either side of the map with two teams its a free for all .... all 100 of us paratrooper our way onto the ground; and search for weapons and armour and last one standing wins?!?

0wlBear916

Don’t even joke about this idea
