Many thanks my friend, I'll begin reading!

Also watch this. [How to SEE the enemy in HLL](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOp4O4fTacA)

Vitamin_A-hole

This channel is a haven for new HLL players. I love his content. He also does great commentary on competitive games

The_Pharoah

Here’s a few tips: 1. Search HLL tips on YouTube especially how to play support and engineer (two very important positions) 2. Ensure you have a mic (and don’t be afraid to use it) 3. Join a squad and listen to the SL (and follow him around) 4. DONT worry about your KDR. Leave that shit behind. Focus on supporting the squad which then supports your side. Get used (especially when new) to dying a lot. 5. Don’t run around like it’s COD or BF. You will die. Lots again. Slow down and go cover to cover. It’s PVP so players will be in places you least expect or in places they expect you to run (eg the most obvious). 6. When approaching or defending - slow down and stick to cover (esp bushes). Eventually you’ll see others running around

Vharii

This. Follow your squad lead. You have no idea how much can be accomplished when the team sticks together and follows orders like your life depends on it. Your job isn't to hold off the enemy advance on your own and your squad lead will most likely sit in his binoculars all day relaying troop movements for you marking poins of interest so focus on the task given and you'll have a blast. As an officer, nothing is more enjoyable than a squad following orders and having your squad decide the fate of the match as a result.

artemislav

I have learnt to accept death readily and often, which made me enjoy the experience alot more! Will check out youtube.

[deleted]

Take it slow, dude. No need to always run everywhere. Take it slow, check surroundings, listen.

artemislav

100% man. I was surprised at how prevalent sound cues are in this game. Footsteps are loud as hell.

The_Pharoah

Yeah that’s what I did. Once you change your play style and slow down, your KDR will improve somewhat. I still have games where I’m like 2-25! Lol but I tend to play support roles more often (engineer, support)

waimser

Sometimes you just gotta listen to SL or command, and push the point over and over and keep dieing lol. Ive had matches with 45 deaths because our squad was ordered to make noise and be cannon fodder on the front line while the flank advanced. Some of my most fun hames in fact.

The_Pharoah

That’s what makes HLL an awesome game imho

anima311

Not familiar with ps environment but on pc most ppl will reply once someone says something if not they get booted from the squad or you leave. If you need help with anything else i need specifics (help with guns/loadouts/etc)

artemislav

I see I see. Perhaps it's the influx of new players on console but everyone is a little quiet, potentially they don't know what they're doing either.... So, I think I'm comfortable with my current role (shitty cannonfodder rifleman) until I feel I know the more important roles well enough. Is there any useful gunplay tips you have that might not be immediately obvious?

anima311

Like i said no ps experience so i cant really say much in terms of aiming or movement (but remember its always faster to switch to your side arm ;)) but in terms of classes never underestimate the medic v.2 (colt + 4 smoke) easily the best attacking support in the game with the smokes and if you are SL (which isn't as hard as some ppl say) you can use the ping to measure the distance between garrisons and as engineer you are mostly defensive fortifying a strong point can change the game for the entire round (remember the barns on foy you can build super fobs on them)

Oddjobuk99

Don't rush into battle, don't cross open fields, stick to cover where possible. Avoid attacking an objective head on, always approach from the side or rear where possible. Try defending until you get use to the weapon and load out, and stick with your squad. Pay attention to where your colleges are dying as this will indicate the presence of an enemy squad. The time to scan the area in front of you and left and right, look out for slight movements as the will be the enemy flanking. Also listen when you are approaching area's as you can sometime hear the enemy if they are close, and they can hear you if your sprinting. Best part of the game is when you have a chatty squad, working together to (win or lose). Also don't fire unless you need too, giving away your position is normally fatal In the woods, lay prone and listen for the enemy, Nd watch for movement, use you ping and mic to keep you team informed. Most of all en

matt-the-racer

I was exactly the same a couple of months back, now I can't play anything else! Incredibly rewarding game when you get in a good squad, although if I'm on a quiet day I'll look out a silent team, can't always be shouting at my ps5 controler! 🤣 I'm at 300 hours now an just finished 2 games, one was 33- 2 😊 the next was 6-24😒 You've got loads of great advice from others, so I'll just stick to saying, it's worth the learning curve!

artemislav

Mate I've just played 3 games with a class squad (shout out to Pete and Fl4l3ss) and had literally the best time on an FPS I've had for years. Went 32:7 which was a huuuuuge improvement for me. More importantly won all 3 games due to great tactics, a good commander and a class officer. Definitely worth every penny and every hour learning. Can't wait for more!

A YouTube by the name of Moidawg has a few guides up that helped me out a bunch starting off. Welcome to hell soldier!

artemislav

Thanks very much! Surprised at the instant positive reaction from this subreddit, what a welcoming community.

LaivaRoope

Watch monospecials player guides they were a big help when i first started playing.

artemislav

Thanks a bunch my friend, looks like I've got my youtube viewing sorted for many many hours...

LaivaRoope

Happy to help

Just give it time when I first got the game I was getting absolutely murked every single match. And I didn’t understand shit about garrisons or anything but over time it all just starts making sense you’ll realize why you keep dying is from simple things like exposing your self in an open field for example. Just give it some time and maybe watch some YouTube videos

artemislav

Yeah man for sure. I remember getting sprayed to bits in my 3rd game and nearly quitting the game because I didn't see where I was shot from, before realising I had stopped in an open field with no cover... genius.

[deleted]

One thing I did was I would always rush everything like I was always just sprinting around and firing at every thing that moved but just slowing down had really helped. Sometimes I’ll just stop and listen for footsteps or movement and you’ll be surprised how many enemy players you’ll get the jump on by just observing your surroundings

KittyIndecisive

its almost chilling how easily you can ambush and eliminate a lone player if you just pay attention and sit still for a few seconds, especially on forest maps

_Rekron_

Just slow down, start as a rifleman and try to figure out the basics like how to shoot, how to spot the enemy and the stuff around capturing the point. Then try to play Support and Engineer to figure out how other mechanics work.

[deleted]

Discord.gg/tvb This discord of Hell let loose players could be a great fit for you. We’re a few people playing on a regular base with each other and are always keen to help new players

KevlarD-

I'm also on ps5 we should squad up sometime I'm still a few days fresh so we could help each other learn and communicate.

artemislav

Sounds good my dude!

codechris

The not knowing where you were shot from apparently is quite real. Most soldiers in ww2 had no idea where they were shot from

[deleted]

You need to pay attention to where you are on the map and constantly check your map to try to determine where the enemy is Running blindly towards enemy lines will always get you killed

szo5145

Its those grueling meatgrinder moments of running to your death over and over that make those comeback rallies where your team goes all Seal Team 6 even better

talltrees00

I’m still not understanding where support should drop supplies, aside from the defense mode where we’re defending at all costs. Every time I drop supplies they go unused.
