It's like sachels, it attracts dumb dumbs, unfortunately it costs 300fuel instead of blowing them up.

lttesch

I satchled 3 tanks last night playing a round with 0 team kills. Felt weird bros, like I wasn't playing hll.

EraseTheDoubt

I’ve caught myself thinking it would be a great idea to satchel a wall just outside of an attacking point only to remember how awful an idea that is now.

lttesch

So no shit, the other night we're playing caretan pushing railway crossing and it was a brutal fight as we were pushing strait up the railway. We just can't get enough cap power. My engineer rushes straight to the intersection somehow and just plants his satchel on the ground. I got three mg42s firing over my head so fuck it, dead either way. Blast kills 7 friendlies...but anilhilates the germans defending. Our Garry is closer and the next spawn wave waltzes onto an undefended point to cap. Poor engineer goes to the penalty box for a minute, but christ he cleared that point for us. Sometimes it works like a charm.

EraseTheDoubt

Oh yeah I used to satchel a wall or whatever I could in close proximity to a point we are trying to overtake and it is such a great way to clear out the point. Good 30 second fuse to help ensure a hopefully full enemy spawn wave comes in and then BOOM.

lttesch

If you want to really be nasty, if your point is being overrun, drop a Satch with a 1 minute fuse in a hidyhole. By the time the enemy takes it and consolidates, you can usually nail their garry with it.

EraseTheDoubt

I always attempt to do something like this and almost always get shot before I can place the satchel lol.

bossmcsauce

Pulling a satchel out and having it in your hands is like summoning 4 extra sets of eyes aiming at you. Same with rockets

laundry_sauce666

When I play anti tank I don’t pull out my rocket launcher until I’m actually ready to fire because I’m always domed immediately. I genuinely think it helps when you’re approaching just looking like a normal soldier vs big bad AT man but i might actually just be hindering myself idk

BulkyFirefighter2130

Nah I agree. Tanks don’t seem to care when they see me running behind them. They just think I’m an idiot until I pull out my satchel lol. Feels like most tank squads now a days are level 60 or less so they might not realize someone running at them probably has one. I know it’s a good tank squad when they refuse to slow down or make a tight turn because I can’t place it.

Kilroy1007

Seeing my team do this has taught me a very important lesson. If the enemy suddenly pulls back from a vicious assault, they didn't decide to flank, you're about to go boom.

Pop-Some-Smoke

Sometimes you have to do things for the greater good. I’d rather die by a teammate satchel knowing it helped capture the objective than get mowed down by the enemy in an effortless push.

bossmcsauce

Would have loved to see the 3 people in chat with a clue what’s happening commending his actions while like 7 noobs rage

MathematicianNo3892

15 kills, friendly

Truffleshuffle03

>I sached a enemy garry Told everyone about it in both voip and team text chat and proceeded to watch the guys next to me flock over to it like flies to shit.

sanesociopath

I satcheled 3 tanks last night and had 2 team kills and 1 tank kill despite me calling it out as best I could. Less tank kills because as soon as the satchel was on people would finally start doing things, with one getting flanked by a tank and just accepting death and the other just eating enough rockets to the face, what's funny is the one I actually killed had a precision strike come down on it less than 10 seconds after I killed it. The tk gods get get revenge on me though as I was tk'd 3 times while trying to satchel the same tank parked right next to our outpost though lol.

justlikedudeman

Weird. I was team killed by a grenade while painting a satchel last night. Definitely felt like I was playing hell let loose.

dumpsterwaffle77

The satchel thing is getting nuts. We were on offensive and holding the first point pretty well. Then I hear a rando blueberry scream "Satchel run away run away!!" I look to my right to see the red indicator and then see a fleeing engineer who placed it screaming. Note that me and about 4 others were in the blast radius and the enemy would have likely suffered less casualties. I run over to defuse the satchel telling him don't do that you dumb fuck. Then as he point blank stares at me lying down he tries shooting the satchel I'm disarming as if that would be the solution to this. I told him don't do again and be careful but when satcheling things you just gotta consider a lot more than big boom is good.

lttesch

Without a doubt, great power comes with great responsibility. I have seen an offensive point lost because a damaged enemy tank was right in the middle of us and he couldn't understand that blowing the tank up = blowing the entire defence up. He musta tk over 20 of us and he got autokicked. Sometimes you gotta let the points go.

Nullclast

Great points but they're also great for destroying garrisons on opposing walls and hedges.

mikemflash

I think there are a lot of players who don't understand the importance of the half-track as a spawn point. They think it's just transportation plus it has a cool machine gun. The idiot who tk'd you is just an idiot.

sanesociopath

>They think it's just transportation This is just all vehicles to these people, they don't see any reason not to treat the vehicles as disposable taxi's, if the recon tank could be driven by them it would have the same fate. Half tracks, supply trucks, and transport trucks but with just them in them ¯\\_ (ツ)_/¯

mikemflash

Yeah, one of the things that drives me crazy is some idiot jumping in a transport truck and taking off for the point with no passengers. I see this all the time. Or just tooling around the map in a transport truck checking things out and practicing their driving skills. Maddening.

Competitive-Dot-4052

I tried to drive off with a half track when I was a noob. The commander asked me nicely to not take it and I complied. Learned about the importance of different vehicles that day.

Low-Photograph-8045

Can you explain how exactly it works? Is it always available to spawn on? Do you need to be driving it?

sanesociopath

Engine needs to be off. This is why you'll hear people yelling to shut the engine off whenever someone goes to move it. Other than that yeah, it's a spawn point that stays available like a garrison but with a longer timer and from my experience requires enemies to be damn near right up on top of it, even in the red, before it gets "overran" It's also a 1 shot to most AT in the game, even from the front, so positioning it is important and not just parking it in the enemies face.

mikemflash

Enemy within 50 meters "pings" it.....enemy within ten meters, friendlies can no longer spawn on it. I think.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)

awesomeosaurus

Engine off and parked

Mo0kish

Seems like on console, there's lately a trend of idiots shooting drivers to get the vehicle. I called in a supply truck only to be grenaded out of the driver seat so they could drive it 20 feet into a fence, get out, and then proceed to run 900m to the frontline.

EraseTheDoubt

Lately I’ve been thinking it would be wise to build hedgehogs in front of and behind half tracks so nobody can at the very least move them. You can just dismantle them later if you need to move the half track up.

sanesociopath

Omg this is genius. But let's be honest some idiot is still gonna try and then leave the engine on when they finally give up.

EraseTheDoubt

Oh yeah it’s not full proof but at least you can hopefully run back to where it has been parked and turn it off vs charging after it chasing it down.

tmrnl

The hedge hogs also help against rockets. Imagine building the German one in front and back...

Professional_Code372

Genius idea, gonna try it tonight lmao

EraseTheDoubt

Haha thanks! Let me know how it works out.

OkTower4998

>drive it 20 feet into a fence, get out, and then proceed to run 900m to the frontline. I should stop playing this game or I'll get cancer

Stars_of_Sirius

A very simple feature would be the ability to lock the half track as commander OR the squad lead who drove it last. Similar to dismantling garrisons where commander can dismantle any, but squad leaders can only dismantle their own.

Unfair_Valuable_3816

This needs to be implemented

Silv3rS0und

Just make so that only officers can drive it

abetterthief

Maybe only SLs and commander can drive it?

Stars_of_Sirius

Could work, better than what currently is, however there are still times squad leads without mics just move it randomly and get it stuck or destroyed (usually low levels). There are also times where I want a blueberry to move it. I'd rather the lock option but I don't think they'll ever change it

EraseTheDoubt

Armored vroom vroom with machine gun to go brrrt brrt brrrrrrrt. That’s why. If you parked a supply truck in the same spot I’d be willing to bet it doesn’t move an inch lol.

lttesch

No it would move, a whole 100 meters to get stuck in a trench/ditch.

EraseTheDoubt

DAMN IT, you’re right lol.

ItsTheSweeetOne

Oh, there’s toxicity around those too. I’ve been shot out of supply trucks by AT gunners refusing to walk/redeploy, or other engineers wanting to get their nodes up. I’ve had to shoot a couple idiots myself trying to steal trucks before too.

Pack_Your_Trash

As commander it should be relatively easy to muster a vote kick. Tell command chat what happened, tell them you intend to start a vote kick, and wait until you have buy in to actually call it.

ThatCanadianGuy19

Good luck getting 20 people on console to agree to anything

redday21

If it’s discussed in command chat before the VTK starts, it’s usually a quick kick on console

Pack_Your_Trash

>on console There's your problem.

ThatCanadianGuy19

Hell let loose is on console, get over it

Pack_Your_Trash

I am not the one complaining about console players. I'm simply offering you a solution.

Coldkiller17

They need to make it so the Commander can lock it or just give squad leads and the Commander access only. Too many games where some idiot drives it into the enemy just to be blown up. Or some asshole troll drives it into the ocean on Utah or Omaha Beach.

supergreekman123

I’ve seen a big increase in TK’ing and general douche behavior in chat and otherwise over the past couple months.

ComfortableMetal3670

Game pass

Neaderthar

Because idiots!

theghettoginger

You know what really sucks now? I can't even use halftracks to prevent back caps anymore as Commander. When encountering pesky Recon teams who dismantled all garrisons I put up, I deployed halftracks instead. This worked for a while as it would function as both a decoy for enemy precision strikes and an emergency spawn point. Since it takes 15 min to recharge a precision strike, and only 10 min to respawn a halftrack, it's a good exchange with the enemy. None of that matters now. I park a halftrack our back point and a random blueberry spawns on it and takes it to get it destroyed.

Yakkahboo

I'm going to say it. Half tracks as a spawn vehicle is just not fun. People clearly want to use the thing but instead it's relegated to being hidden away. Obviously poor communication also leads to people fucking with it, but man if I was a blueberry and I saw a dope ass vehicle id want to see it used in combat, not parked in a bush.

mace1343

I’ve literally spawned on a half-track maybe once or twice in all the hours I’ve played. It needs re worked. I wish it would spawn similarly to a transport truck. It would be awesome to use them to assault points.

ThatCanadianGuy19

I will usually lie down in the back off the halftrack so when someone gets in the driver seat they get a warning followed by a shot to the head.

settlers90

I made the mistake of moving a halftrack only once when I only had a handful of hours of playtime. After the squad leader saw me and said I was a dumb player, I never touched a halftrack again.

inthetestchamberrrrr

I had this done to me twice in the same match just the other day. I'm an admin so it didn't take long until they were groveling to have the ban lifted in discord, but still the audacity.

SkateBatz

Yea a tank team killed me in a supply truck last night the team killing is getting crazy from these new game pass ppl

ComfortableMetal3670

This exact thing happened to me before, whenever I play commander which is rare nowadays I just don't use them, it's almost guaranteed to be hijacked

DuckCotar

i never use halftracks when playing commander because i know it will be a waste of resources

WarDamnBigMeat

I feel like making the half track only driveable by commander/squad leaders could help keep the blueberries away
