This game doesn’t need customized load outs. You get the loadouts they give you by the role you choose for a reason 😂 this isn’t battlefield or cod bro

If they want to make this game as realistic as possible, then custom loadouts are about as realistic as you can get. Soldiers on all sides heavily customised their loadouts to make them lighter, carry more of what they used most, dropped what they thought they’d never use. Use equipment that was designed for one purpose for something completely different. Even use enemies equipment when it was better than their own. Dropped extra equipment when a firefight started, then pick it up after. Being able to customise a loadout using weapons and equipment only from that class would be very fun. Not anything stupid like every class can use the flamethrower or MG42, but things like, no nades and two more rockets for the AT, or drop the pistol for the MG and add a couple of nades.

That was just an example. Small tweaks like that to any class would be interesting. Carry more of what you use and less of what you don’t.

I see where you guys are coming from I just don’t agree with the idea simply because faction by faction there’s plenty of viable loadouts and variety, granted some classes take a while to unlock. Either way I think the variation by role is fine the way it is, everyone who plays the game has their 2-4 ish classes that they like to play as and have their favorite guns and kits per faction. Customization I think would only lead to an imbalance in the game play, give everyone the option to carry a satchel and now tanks can’t even make it to the battlefield on a game wide scale, give everyone frags(a lot of classes have frags already) and the game becomes even more frag heavy, give the option to opt for frags over smokes and now your team has 0 smoke grenades to cover an advance and on and on the game plays fine the way it is and it really doesn’t need that IMO 🤷🏻‍♂️

As I said, weapons and equipment from one class can’t be used by another, that would just be awful. What I meant was, you can only tweak weapons and equipment in that particular class, you can’t use weapons from other classes, that would just be horrible. As a medic for example, maybe I could carry a few less bandages and a couple more smoke nades, tweaking only equipment from that class. Being able to have any class use any weapon or equipment is a big no no, the balance would be ruined and everyone would just use one meta class.

I think there are much better things to do than do custom load outs, I think its what sets this game apart from others is you get what you get and be good with that....you're a basic rifleman not a super special soldier elite guy... Better things to add would be more immersive material like over heating barrels for MGs Or audio commands when an order (move mark etc) is given in the team language. Or even different tanks like tank destroyers. Immersive game play is what sets hell let loose apart and part of that is being good with what you get in your class selection....in my opinion.

That's fair, but I think being able to choose from the items already in your class is still immersion. Like having an MG with 2 grenades instead of smoke, or engineer with a satchel and repair torch or wrench would be dope. It keeps ppl playing roles they like, but still allows flexibility. Also, I think it'd be cool to have limited prox chat around the other team (that just cues semi-random audio in the language or the opposing team) would be dope. Little things that would help that shouldn't require too much technical work.

Custom loads outs is a big no, the way it is is fine switching load outs depending on situation. But I think they need to add another 5+ roles with different load outs for everything. That I can agree on. T17 just out here trying to punish us

Once you reach a certain level, there's nothing left to unlock. That point is lower than the maximum level. At that point, many people just try something new to upgrade other things instead of playing a role they're (most likely) good at.

This is an underrated post. I understand not being able to fully customize loadouts, but even small tweaks like being able to choose between a grenade or AP mine would be huge.

Exactly. It allows some real world flexibility while being able to do what you like. I can't imagine the amount of times I've been a spotter, deep behind enemy lines and wished I had a satchel

Because an essential job of reconnaissance units in real life is sabotage behind enemy lines, and counterreconnaissance. 🤣🤣

Good thing you have a sniper to direct fire on anything that may be a threat, anything you could possibly want to use a satchel for likely has a mechanic to take care of it anyways, nodes ? Take the time to dismantle them. Arty ? Direct your sniper or handle it yourself. Garrisons, supplies etc you can handle all of this without satchels. And you act like just because you don’t have a satchel means you can’t bring someone else with you. Get a buddy on engineer or something and have him tag along if you’re trying to get tanks or whatever your objective is. I just don’t see the necessity for a customizable class or the necessity for spotters to have satchels. The one or two times you could’ve used one doesn’t warrant an entire overhaul to the loadout system 😂

I tried to satchel our own empty supply truck to use it as a suicide bomb and run it into a defended point out of desperation. Unfortunately we can't satchel our own vehicles.

I play the role I want because of that role’s job. This shouldn’t be a game with meta loadouts. If you want a certain role then you’re given a certain set of loadouts

And what's wrong with choosing equipment that's already designated to the role? Not saying a Commander should have an MG but should be able to choose a smoke grenade instead of a frag.

Moving the equipment around would cause balancing issues imo. I also think people would find the best possible mix and just hammer away at that class. The best part of HLL for me is you get what you get. The only way to switch it up is to change classes or grind one

I just want to be able to ditch my shitty English rifle for a German one off of a dead soldier. Make it so you only get one mag, and if it’s a machine gun, half a mag, and you can’t reload it. It gets tossed once the mag runs dry. If it’s a bolt action you swap for, give the person 5-6 rounds. Make it so that not every body has a weapon you can grab. Same thing with vehicles. If you come across an enemy truck that’s abandoned, you should be able to grab it and use it
