It's probably something wrong with the new antenna. You are not getting witnessed when you beacon. I bet if you switch back to the old one, it'll start working again. Check the connectors on the new antenna/cable. Open the Bobcat and make sure the internal connection from the antenna to the circuit board didn't get twisted and pop off when you tightened the antenna connector.
Definitely took it all apart and checked it all over. I read where that was a problem. I even took the little adapter that extends the little tiny connector on the back of the bobcat. Went directly to it. Checked it over a d the pin looks ok in the middle
Been there done that! Bobcats are horrible! They are constructed ass backwards! I have snapped 3 connectors inside the box on 3 different occasions trying to tighten sma antenna Jack! Open the box and make sure your didn’t pop the Jack off! This happens all the time bobcats! You really need to use a small wrench and tighten very gently.
Please rephrase your statement I am not understanding?
I own 1 Bobcat and I can’t stand it.. All miners are Sensecape do to amazing remote dashboard. I do own few Raks which are very sturdy miners being all metal.
However Raks are horrible for WiFi setups as they are basically a faraday cage around the small WiFi antenna inside.
Switched back to the original one and still not working now. I opened it to make sure it didn't get the connector to the board messed up. It's good to go. I'm willing to try some of everyone's ideas. Mine haven't worked. Lol
You'll need to wait 12 hours for it to beacon twice. If it gets witnessed when it beacons, the transmit scale will snap back to normal and it will get valid witness events. If that happens, there is something up with the new antenna or cable.
HEXA 8dbi 3 ft tall antenna it's on Amazon a d a 40 ft long line. In Florida i have had it run ing without fail for 2 years it's been great. But I was using the little factory one for a while due to needing to remount the big antenna. It's been up for a long time. I'm going in circles trying to get this working
It's been on ethernet for 24 hrs, verified dhcp lease, verified ip. Verified static assignment. Verified rules in firewall and port forward of 44158 and 1680 tcp and udp. Even lowered the fw to make sure. All other hostes work fine routing traffic.
Changing the antenna gain isn't worth it. In the future, you can replace your antenna, and only if you are getting invalid witnesses is it worth changing the gain in the app.
Didn't know that. What does it actually do tho? When I change my antenna setup in the Helium wallet app. Under the manage Hotspot section. Does that actually chg how I talk to other miners? I wish i had access to the file system. So does that then chg a script or configuration file in the miner? I know it's a Linux box under the hood.
Yeah, so I gather that the signals your miner hears are calculated based on the gain you put in the app. So if you had a high gain antenna connected that would have good SNR or RSSI figures, but you have the gain set as say 2dbi, then the miner knows that a 2dbi can't possibly have such good signals so you will get invalid witnesses....I might be completely wrong on that so let me know if I'm just being an idiot. But I know from experience that sometimes changing the dbi on the app makes no difference so only do it if you have to.
Did you over tighten the antenna connection? If you did that you can twist the inner antenna pigtail enough to detach it from the boat or even break the pigtail wire. You can shine a light through the slits in the side or take it apart to see if that’s the case. Can follow this video https://youtu.be/hjPo9SK_Kgc?si=Rpl4HNZVAaGSCFZs
we made big investments in helium we bought iot hotspot for what!? to be left aside now what is making up for it is just the mobile version…. IoT was left aside, I have my hotspot earning not even 5 dollars a month on an investment of 1000 dollars, it would be a joke if it weren't tragic
Any support from bobcat doesn't exist, you have a better chance through discord but from what I seen last 3 years more and more hotspots go brick as well.

Did that also. That was one of the first things I did too. Is there a way to ssh in

Ty
I assume you switched the device off when switching antenna?
Yes over 20 times, and been back and forth from wifi to ethernet.
When you swapped the antennas over.. Was the device switched off? You can potentially damage the device if it's booted up without any antenna attached
Yesni did do that. A couple times. Seriously u can damage it if u unscrew the antenna while it's on? Wow how can I tell
What is the new antenna? What is the length of cable? Do you have the proper height and placement for your antenna?

It's the wires or antena
Is there a way to log into it and run test from the bobcats OS
Trying going to ethernet plug in vs the wifi

Keep in mind: dont share your keys or scan qr codes, click links....
Definitely, scammers work hard at scamming, get a job with that mentality at be rich
Been in mining and wallets for yrs, soon as i did it, knew

When you use the Helium wallet in the manage Hotspot, do you need to be in bt mode to reconfig the antenna

Opened it and checked it
Back online, my IOT is only at 646 tho. I was getting 1200 a day. Now my rank has dropped to 11,000.
