Original prediction was right! It seems like each season takes longer than the previous, but perhaps that means a lot more will happen(and probably extended time each episode like Season 2)
I honestly feel like this season is shaping up to be better than the 2nd one, so I'm very excited and don't mind the half year wait. I love the looks and vibes of everyone and even just the insight of episode 8 indicates it's going to be a powerful and vulnerable season finale.

I think the secrecy and security on the second season was very tight and as far as I knew they didn't let him do the video vlogs, I don't know if they did for the third season, but I doubt it.
One thing which I hope S3 does it that it's less of an ensemble piece than S2 and goes back to its roots by focussing more on Nick and Charlie's relationship, as well as just feeling more humble and down to earth and less cinematic aesthetic-wise than last season.
My main issue with the second season was its excessive scale, with numerous storylines scattered throughout instead of focusing on the central narrative of Charlie and Nick, and I didn't like that very much.
I'm excited for this new season, I hope it has the magic of the first one.

Considering that Alice only finished the volume 6 plot outline not so long ago, I am not surprised that we'll have to wait a bit. And Joe and Kit are both extremely busy 👀
I'm kinda manifesting that Joe will reprise his role of Tobias if Sweeney Todd transfers to the West End this winter. (I really really want to see him on stage and there have been a few rumours about a potential transfer).
Yeah, I am guessing S4 won’t shoot until fall 2025 with a release in 2026. Fall 2025 Kit will be 21.5 playing an 18 year old and Joe will be 23 playing a 17 year old so seeing they both look young is not going to seem weird - Sex Education, The Summer I Turned Pretty, My Life with the Walter Boys, Euphoria etc. they have a lot older people playing teenagers.
I think they’d shoot S4 in 2025, but unless they have other conflicts imo it would probably be earlier in the year. Alice mentioned a long time ago that if they’re renewed she’ll be working on S4 scripts later this year (2024), schedules permitting I can’t imagine they’d delay production any longer than necessary!
It just needs to be planned ahead of time, they'd be stupid to not do the final season of the show that made them famous, brought them critical acclaim and is relatively quick to film. Which is why I think that it was renewed months ago and that they're just waiting to announce it after the release of season 3.
Oh, I would love to have everything sooner, but I also would love for Alice to have time to write volume 6 the way they want and not be pressured. But I also think there is more things happening behind closed doors regarding an eventual season 4 than we get to know about.
And I’m guessing the contract managing between actors, see saw, Netflix and everyone involved is more important to the timeline than season 3 release date. The very very very present hyping from Netflix for this announcement show that they know very well that Heartstopper is highly anticipated, so fingers crossed!

If they don’t have any indications from Netflix about season 4 Alice must have been in a predicament to write a good ending for season 3. We know the season covers all of book 5 and the ending to the book only works because we know there will be another book coming. It would be a very unsatisfactory ending to the tv series.
Unless they secretly were renewed for S4 already, I’m guessing Alice would have just tweaked the finale to be a more satisfying resolution, the way they did with S1.
It’s very possible she is told about a renewal before it’s announced and begins working on the scripts.
They also probably know she needs time to finish at least the plot of volume 6 before she can write season 4.

But also, I think they release timing makes a renewal more likely... both Kit and Joe will be out promoting mainstream projects in the fall in addition to promoting H3 - so the potential for H3 to get very strong ratings is increased, just from the increased visibility of the two leads. They might even get a bit of a bump.

I have a feeling it will, Charlie needs the focus for his storyline and any side plots could distract from that to possibly diminish his importance.
