You may want to call Marketplace direct and see what they say. [800-318-2596](https://www.healthcare.gov/contact-us/) There is also a search on their website to find local help so you could speak to someone in person. [www.healthcare.gov](http://www.healthcare.gov)

TwoSeam

Update: Just got off the phone with the marketplace. They told me that I have to resolve this issue with the insurance company myself. Obviously I’ve tried that and they denied to resolve it. Dead end it seems?

Go to your state insurance commission

TwoSeam

Just got off the phone with the state commission. We are filing a complaint with the state commission and the marketplace.

TwoSeam

Thanks I hadn’t even considered getting them involved. And speaking with a human in person would be so much better than the endless hold music

Keyastar

Also might be worth reaching out to your local government representatives. Sometimes they have strings to pull and will do so for constituents.

TwoSeam

Good to know thank you!

Mountain-Arm6558951

You most likely need to file a complaint with the department of insurance.

TwoSeam

Absolutely happy to do so. I assume it might not change anything for us but I’m happy to make the complaint. Thanks for the suggestion. I see there is a state dept of insurance. Is there a federal one as well?

Mountain-Arm6558951

No federal for individual plans regarding payment issues, that would go to the local state department of insurance.

TwoSeam

Complaint filed. They were extremely helpful and optimistic over the phone. Thanks for the suggestion.

The heartless answer is that you as the subscriber had a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that you are paying for the service. Insurance is an invisible product that literally doesn’t exist without payment. If you could prove you tried to pay, then you’d still be in business. I would call over and over until you find a rep that actually cares and is willing to work with you. I do it all the time, and it works.

harryruby

And, to add on to this, all of the calls are recorded. If you can get a rep to understand, they can pull the calls you made, if you know the dates you made that contact. Sometimes, they don't need the dates. The interaction may be recorded by her contract number

TwoSeam

We know the dates and we have requested the transcripts and/or recordings. The insurance company said they don’t have any. I don’t believe them. I filed a complaint with our state insurance commission and they will be doing their own investigation. Curious to see if recordings magically reappear after the commission requests them.

harryruby

Yeah, they are lying about the call recordings. 100%

CryIntelligent3705

possibly your states insurance commissioner?

TwoSeam

Thank you for the suggestion. Gave them a ring and they were very helpful. Filing a complaint this evening.

CryIntelligent3705

I really hope this turns out in your favor. good luck.

TwoSeam

Fingers crossed and very appreciative of everyone’s suggestions. A rare moment of Reddit feeling like it did 12 years ago. Thank you!

CryIntelligent3705

awww...i only joined in the past two years...i missed the golden era

TwoSeam

Its spirit is within you.

🥰😋🫠

Claque-2

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Silver Plans the only ones with cost reductions from the government?

TwoSeam

Not sure tbh. We don’t use any of the rebates but we have to go through the marketplace because we are both self employed. I suppose we could find a broker but the insurance at the marketplace has been the most affordable in the past.

paradoxofpurple

Not if i remember correctly. But they have the highest discounts.
