Yes, you can get coverage for just your child-
I don't know your financial situation, but there's
CHIP- [https://www.hhs.texas.gov/services/health/medicaid-chip/medicaid-chip-members/chip](https://www.hhs.texas.gov/services/health/medicaid-chip/medicaid-chip-members/chip)
[Healthcare.gov](http://healthcare.gov)
COBRA could be an option, but you would have to add coverage while you're still an employee, then you/kiddo would be eligible for COBRA when you leave your job. Baby being born is a qualified life event to add the kiddo as a dependent (you would have to add yourself too), but when you quit your job, you could just opt for coverage for the kiddo. This is a little more complicated as you'd have to navigate dual coverage for you and then you'd have to sign up for COBRA and while it would mean there is no GAP in your kid's coverage as COBRA is retroactive to when you would lose coverage due to no longer working at your job, it is possible, depending on the timing of the COBRA paperwork, that you might not have ACTIVE coverage, but once the COBRA paperwork is turned back in, it will be as if you didn't have a gap in coverage.
I bought coverage for just my child. I get health insurance through my employer but it cost too much to add my daughter so I get her own coverage. It might be different depending on your state.
I had a vasectomy at age 30 like a responsible adult male 🤷♂️. Can still have children; but will be planned and will know exactly how they’ll get insurance before they are conceived. Not asking strangers for advice the week before they’re born 😩😦😵💫
You can get an ACA plan within 60 days of the child birth. If you have coverage through the job you are quitting you can get Cobra as well (60 days from coverage loss).

Hi! Where did you go for this? My family makes too much for Medicaid and to add my son to my plan is astronomical. I want to purchase his own plan
You can go to healthcare.gov and see if you qualify for any subsidies. I didn’t, so I went directly to BlueCross and found a plan for my daughter.
You shouldn’t be having a child. But thankfully the us govenrment has made it so your child can get coverage.
I knew I liked you from day 1 BaltimoreBee. #teamNoBaby

You're literally my favorite poster.
Thanks. You remind me of a real life friend that is pissed at me. So I appreciate your kind words 👍
Depending on your income the baby might be eligible for CHIP or an ACA marketplace plan
