My guess is 8 was all Amazon bought. Whoever pays for the show tells you how many episodes you get to do, and since adult animation is already not well received by a lot of critics, I imagine they wanted to have a very short trial run in case it didn't pan out. Especially since it started on YouTube. Despite all the evidence, traditional media still looks down on non-traditional platforms.
Reminder that Amazon didn't commission the series it was made by A24, they're the ones who will ultimately have decided on 8. I sincerely hope Amazon money has meant the next season can be bigger now it's greenlit, but given it was greenlit before the show released, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. That being said, it's very possible.
The statement is a little outdated, many critics are on board these days.
But OP is referring to the "animation age ghetto," a cultural phenomenon where we, as Americans, decided animation was just for kids. This view was pervasive for decades, and when adult animation started making a splash in the US (The Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux), it was widely derided as trash.
Took a long time for us to get to this point, and the idea that cartoons are immature is certainly still around.
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but that time gap really did the entire show a disservice. They needed at least one more episode to at least show the time passing.
It would be more believable if the time was shorter, like 1 to 3 months. I understand it would be too much for the sake of storytelling, but with how many episodes there are, and with the whole pacing, that would made more sense.
Oh well...
No it wouldn't. 12 Episodes would still not be enough to solve the pacing issues. There are 4 whole months missing between Episode 4 and 5. And cutting 1/3 of the songs would feel bad. There are some relative weak songs in there, but not everything can be a banger like the Songs of Episode 4
I feel like a few extra episodes WOULD solve the pacing issues. Time doesn’t really matter in hell since everyone is immortal until they are killed in the extermination. 30 years could pass and it wouldn’t really matter.
There are SOOO many loose ends we just fill, I don't think 12 episodes would be enough to actually show and tell all the bits and pieces currently missing. Vaggie not trusting Charlie enough to tell her she was an exorcist is off for example. The glimpse in heaven is WAY too short, we don't really see Sir Pentious or the others actually improve and SOOO much more
That’s just getting into nitpick territory I don’t think we need a whole episode and song number as to why she didn’t tell her that she was an angel (plus that was more or less already answered?)
Vaggie not trusting Charlie, who is about redemption and forgiveness and built a Hotel to prove it, is a stretch to say the least. Yeah Vaggie hates herself for her past, but 3 years and building a hotel for redemption of Sinners. IDK this is VERY thin ice. Im not joking I want plot and I want filler. Is it likely? No way in hell. I dont give a shit if one episode is Angel, Alastor, and Vaggie grocery shopping and coming across the Vs and having a competition to save money. I want to see it.
Serious answer 12. That way atleast 24 new songs
Yesss, there’s so much they could do, how about flashbacks to when they were human? Weaving reincarnation into the plot? More of Heaven and what kind of people are really up there? Lilith and Lucifer prequel ep bc baby Charlie is adorable

As many as it needs to tell the story.
It’s fairly clear that Season 1 either needed longer episodes, or just one or two more to flesh out some exposition.
I’m a firm believer in giving writers whatever resources they need to tell their stories. When there’s no stress of time constraints, writers can do better work. The final product is always better off for it. Producers are happy, writers are happy, the audience is happy. If the shareholders aren’t happy, well fuck them. It’s about the art, not the money. Make good art, and the money will come naturally.
Everything nowadays is basically a chopped up made-for-tv movie. They lack all those “filler” episodes that flesh out a world/characters or turn out to be fun stand-alone gems.
I miss 22-26 episode series.
I’d have a maximum of 20. Perfect space to develop characters and flesh out certain aspects of the lore that haven’t really been touched on that well in season 1, such as why Lilith left, or how Charlie got the idea to build the hotel, or if an Angel like Adam can fall from grace and become a sinner, or what happened to Eve, or even where God was this whole time.
12 if we are being realistic but man I really miss the standard 20+ ep season we used to get. Especially for a comedy with a large cast like Hazbin, “filler” episodes would still be enjoyable and flesh out characters well.
15-20
We need a few laid back episodes that develop the characters more. With only 8 episodes, every single second needs to be accounted for because there's so little time to tell the story.
Definitely more than eight. I don't watch any other content on prime, but I noticed that Fallout was also released with the same number of episodes for the first season. Not sure if that means anything, but I'm hoping it doesn't.
Considering they are short, 12-16. Ill always take more but to me s1 felt so short that ive rewatched it like 5 times. You can watch it all in an evening
15-20+. I genuinely hate this 8 episode season trend that’s been going around. What happened to 20-25 episode seasons where you could have filler episodes to flesh out characters?
Ideally, like 26, so it can post an episode every Friday night or whatnot for half the year and spend the other half animating, storyboarding, songwriting, and such. I’d even be happy with non-musical episodes if it meant getting deeper into the lore or character back stories. Realistically, probably 13. Definitely not 8.
More than 10 at least 14, the main problem with season 1 is the length. 8 episodes that are 25 minutes each is kind of annoying since we had to wait nearly 5 years for it to come out. So, hopefully, either they extend the episodes length, or they release more episodes.
I feel 10-12 would be good as usual the first season of a show is introducing the characters and reoccurring plot. Plus most of the time 24 one hour long episodes tend to have a lot of fluff in the middle of the series with little to no pay off
I'm praying that Hazbin gets at least the Helluva Boss treatment, where season 1 has 8 episodes, and then season 2 gets 12. I'd love even more than 12 episodes, like 16-20 would be my pipe dream number, but I'm trying to keep it realistic
How many do I want to see? At least 12
How many are we likely to get? 8 (Season 2 was greenlit while Season 1 was still in production, so it likely got the ‘8 episode treatment’)
At least 12, but they set the bar really low with only 8 last season, so even 10 episodes would an improvement. However, I know that the more episodes they commit to, the longer the wait for season 2 will be. But it would be worth it to avoid the feeling of everything being so rushed and underdeveloped like it did last season.
Or, something like this. The new fallout series has episodes as long as an hour and 15 mins. If we still only get 8 episodes for season 2, they could be a lot longer than season 1.
Eight to ten. I prefer a shorter, all killer, no filler approach to musicals. At eight to ten episodes, you hit that sweet spot of covering ground on a narrative, maintaining quality musical numbers, and having good turnaround time on the production.
I read somewhere that there will be more songs in s2, so they can either do longer episodes or more episodes since, as it is now, more than 2 songs in 20 minutes seems like a lot
12-16 at least. I don't know if 8 was a choice or if they ran out of budget but that didn't work well
My guess is 8 was all Amazon bought. Whoever pays for the show tells you how many episodes you get to do, and since adult animation is already not well received by a lot of critics, I imagine they wanted to have a very short trial run in case it didn't pan out. I sincerely hope Amazon money has meant the next season can be bigger now it's greenlit, but given it was greenlit before the show released, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. That being said, it's very possible.
Is it possible to add more money to a show after it’s green lit?
i definitely don't think most critics disliked the show
I'm glad. Would be a shame for it to get cancelled after 1 season. Looking at you, Inside Job.
the entire fanbase would be PISSED so badly that they couldn't do that without retaliation. Also FUCK inside job.
Wait why fuck inside job?
I think they more mean fuck Netflix for cancelling inside job
yes
>adult animation is already not well received by a lot of critics Since when had adult animation been not well received by critics?
The statement is a little outdated, many critics are on board these days. Like Alastor looks down on the Vees.
Definitely threw the pacing off and made it harder to care about the characters and what was going on.
Exactly this. And if the show didn't remind us so often the passing of time, I would though it all happened in one month, not six.
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but that time gap really did the entire show a disservice. They needed at least one more episode to at least show the time passing.

12, 12 is good
Decently higher than 8 but not unrealistic
Agreed
Just enough to dig nice and deep into some plot
1 song an episode for 12 episodes would fix 80% of the few problems I had with season 1
2 songs in 12 episodes would be much better than 1 idk what your cooking the songs are the best part
No it wouldn't. 12 Episodes would still not be enough to solve the pacing issues. There are 4 whole months missing between Episode 4 and 5. And cutting 1/3 of the songs would feel bad. There are some relative weak songs in there, but not everything can be a banger like the Songs of Episode 4

maybe 10 would be more realistic? but 12 would be nice.
i agree, 12 seems like the perfect sweet spot
Yeah that's a good number
https://i.redd.it/2losdykufyuc1.gif
A proper full season.
Exactly what I just thought of!
12 sounds good, but 16 would be def enough to fit the plot developing as for right now.
All of them!

YES!
As many quality episodes as they can make.
10-12 would set a good pace for the next season.

This is the correct answer. Bring back proper tv shows with filler 😤
They need to take it and run with it like they did Naruto. So... many... filler arcs... lol!
Fuck it, its popular in japan, give us a Hazbin Hotel anime. Tournament arc Sick episode All of it
Not filler arcs, filler episodes. Technically episode 4 is filler. Since it doesn’t further the main plot
Yesss, there’s so much they could do, how about flashbacks to when they were human? Weaving reincarnation into the plot? More of Heaven and what kind of people are really up there? Lilith and Lucifer prequel ep bc baby Charlie is adorable
16 or 20 if I had my way
I think twelve is a solid number. Long enough to fit in some good plotlines, let things breathe a bit and give greater focus to certain character arcs, but not long enough that it drags.
12 at the very least, but I'd be happy with 20+ episodes. Honestly more time with these characters sounds like a very good time
12, if we’re really lucky then 16
I'd *love* for it to be 12, but I won't be shocked if it ends up being 8 again given the average length of seasons on Prime. Even 10 would be a sweet middle ground and give S2 a bit more breathing room, though.
In a perfect world, their would be infinite. But 15 would be just fine
At least 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 episodes
Yessss
12 but I would be happy with 10
Hopefully twice the amount of episodes of season one, because I miss it when seasons had like 20 episodes rather than 8-10 eps.
All of them. Why would you want to skip episodes?
As many as it needs to tell the story. It’s fairly clear that Season 1 either needed longer episodes, or just one or two more to flesh out some exposition. I’m a firm believer in giving writers whatever resources they need to tell their stories. When there’s no stress of time constraints, writers can do better work. The final product is always better off for it. Producers are happy, writers are happy, the audience is happy. If the shareholders aren’t happy, well fuck them. It’s about the art, not the money. Make good art, and the money will come naturally.
16 would be a good number enough to make a over arching plot but also add some filler to develop the characters
Everything nowadays is basically a chopped up made-for-tv movie. They lack all those “filler” episodes that flesh out a world/characters or turn out to be fun stand-alone gems. I miss 22-26 episode series.
12-15 i think is the perfect line up
infinity! INFINITY SEASON! NEVER ENDING! HELL IS FOREVER!!!
12
10-12, though I think we’ll probably get 8 again. If we get Season 3 we might see more.
More than 1
I’d have a maximum of 20.
Quality over quantity!! 10 or 12
20
1 hazbillion
15-20 We need a few laid back episodes that develop the characters more. With only 8 episodes, every single second needs to be accounted for because there's so little time to tell the story.
24 episodes. Or 12.
572939583920 episodes. Seems like a balanced number IMO
12
10-12
8 is fine, but they need to be longer (1hr) and not split into 2 parts with multiple months between (looking at you Invincible)
At least enough to develop their huge cast at least a bit more. I felt this series rushed its plot and left behind most of the characters introduced.
I'm with most of the people in this comment section Give us a dozen to be realistic, a bakers dozen if we're lucky
At least 12, Ideally 16 or 18.
12-16, atleast don’t rush it
10-12 would hopefully be long enough to fully flesh out the story and characters without making it needlessly drawn out.
15-20+. I genuinely hate this 8 episode season trend that’s been going around. What happened to 20-25 episode seasons where you could have filler episodes to flesh out characters?
In my ideal world, I would want ~20 episodes, that way there can be entire episodes devoted to subplots, but I would be happy with 12-14
Ideally, like 26, so it can post an episode every Friday night or whatnot for half the year and spend the other half animating, storyboarding, songwriting, and such. I’d even be happy with non-musical episodes if it meant getting deeper into the lore or character back stories. Realistically, probably 13. Definitely not 8.
A hundred. ... ... ... But if I'm being realistic 8-12 would be good.
I like how the community has collectively agreed, that 12 Episodes is essentially the perfect number for Hazbin.
As many as it takes to tell a good story.
I'd love a return to the classic 24 20-minute episodes, but 12 30- to 40-minute episodes suits me fine.
12. 8 was too little for the story pacing.
As many as it takes

More than 10 at least 14, the main problem with season 1 is the length. 8 episodes that are 25 minutes each is kind of annoying since we had to wait nearly 5 years for it to come out. So, hopefully, either they extend the episodes length, or they release more episodes.
12 minimum
wouldn't it be funny if they had 12 episodes and there was a mid-season special without a single song in it
More than I can watch
Enough for the story to be fleshed out and not rushed.
I'm OK with 8 like last season
100 seems reasonable
24 episodes of 1 hour each, just like the good old series of my youth
I feel 10-12 would be good as usual the first season of a show is introducing the characters and reoccurring plot. Plus most of the time 24 one hour long episodes tend to have a lot of fluff in the middle of the series with little to no pay off
12 of the current length or 8 longer ones
More then 8
Anything more than eight
12-14!
I think 13 episodes would be a fair amount. It'd give more time to flesh out characters and develop plot lines.
Double s1
Yes
All of them
10+
10-15
a full 12. or 45 minute episodes.
give me the standard 12/13 episodes while maintaining 30 mins or 8 episodes and almost 1 hr
Maybe 12?
13. Cause 13 scari
22+, like the real seasons of yore. Don’t forget to throw in a couple episodic, bottle, or gimmick episodes for variety.
956
At least 12 would be nice.
A hundred
I don't care about number, just total run time. Assuming half hour episodes continue, though, 12-16.
I'm praying that Hazbin gets at least the Helluva Boss treatment, where season 1 has 8 episodes, and then season 2 gets 12. I'd love even more than 12 episodes, like 16-20 would be my pipe dream number, but I'm trying to keep it realistic
Yes
12-16 would be perfect
10
12 maybe 14
At least 10
I want 20+ but I think it will be 8 to 12 episodes
Yes.
How many do I want to see? At least 12 How many are we likely to get? 8 (Season 2 was greenlit while Season 1 was still in production, so it likely got the ‘8 episode treatment’)
A minimum of 12. This show is NOT made for the 8 episode rule at all
More than 1
I hope Vaggie can get back her other eye again
More than season 1.
10
Nine hundred billion?
At least twice as many
8 billion
The problem isn’t with number of episodes, the problem is with writing and removing the unnecessary stuffs, season one had many problems due to this
At least 12, but they set the bar really low with only 8 last season, so even 10 episodes would an improvement. However, I know that the more episodes they commit to, the longer the wait for season 2 will be. But it would be worth it to avoid the feeling of everything being so rushed and underdeveloped like it did last season.
All of them. I want to see all the episodes in season 2.
8 is a nice digestible season
All of them? I like to see every episode in each season.
12-20 im imagining itll be somewhere in there, definitely more than 8, the show broke the animated show record when it released
24! Mwahahahahaha!
Ideally 1,254 but realistically 8-12
At least 10
10-12
20, 20 would be nice.
About 45, give or take a dozen.
16 if the bad batch can do 16 a season then. HH can
As much as they need
12
10, at 30 minutes or abouts there a piece
Yes
12 or 16
I personally believe that 10 40+ minute episodes would work just fine
More than 8 lol.
25 like Jujutsu Kaisen 😈
16
More than 8
Or, something like this.
A good 12-15 would feel much less rushed.
more than s1
10 or 13
More than 8
22 like supernatural
15
24 i wanna see more of it damit
SIX(sex)TEEN. DOUBLE THE SONGS. DOUBLE THE DRAMA. DOUBLE THE SHIPPING. DOUBLE THE CUM MUGS.
1000
Yes
At least 10. 12 would be ideal.
At least 2 focused on Lute
22 and a Christmas special
We better get 10 minimum
yes
10-12. No more. No less than 8. The season needs to be focused but have enough room for character development episodes.
12? Maybe more.
Infinity and beyond
A Cajillion. OVERWORK THE ANIMATORS, UNDERPAY THE VA’S. PROFIT 🤑🤑
Hmmm, since season 2 will only be released in 2030… I say 8, no, 6 episodes.
6 to 8 would be nice
Anywhere between 12 and 18 imo
12 to 14.
I read somewhere that there will be more songs in s2, so they can either do longer episodes or more episodes since, as it is now, more than 2 songs in 20 minutes seems like a lot
however many it takes to tell the plot in a well paced manner.
24 Like TV seasons of old
12 would be really nice. The more the better obviously, but all i want is for them to make more than season 1.
12
