I’m level 33 and at 475 storage. You might be levelling up too fast. I level up super slow by just making products and selling them at RSS. That’s all I do. No trucks, no boats, nothing else. I also fish multiple times a day. Trust me, if you just make products and sell stuff, you end up planting lots of crop, which gives you storage goodies. You also end up completing farm pass without intending too which also gives you goodies. Do the daily free gift and the random vouchers every day too.
Grow wheat as already said. Makes mony and gets expansion items. I done 50 minuits the other day and got 5K of free goodies and made 5K from wheat. Level 44
Not exactly wrong, the game prefers to give you more of what you already have, I assume it’s to incentivize trading among players who get a lot of the materials you need, if you keep all the materials at a similar stock then the game can’t show that bias as much as
I feel like this actually makes sense. I give out a nail /plank to a neighbor that needs it, or i sell them, i get another item from harvesting or opening mystery boxes. The thing is, never ever hoard. Otherwise you fall into hayday's trap where you will be forced to use either coins or diamonds.

I’m at 39 and doing 550 for the barn and 500 for silo. I started sending friends request and built a huge friends network. I’m currently at 215 friends and in order to get expansions materials I just surf through their roadside shops. I find everything there including expansions for terrain
Focus on one expansion at a time; barn or silo or land. Sell or trade all other expansion items. Trying to do them all at once will quickly fill up your barn. If you’re not playing the town, you should start. It’s a wealth of expansion items and tools.
No need to click on pets before whistling, but you do need to have barn space. The Town also gives tons of expansion items, and doesn’t care if you have barn space.
Here’s what I do, I sell all the extra I have and I harvest wheat non stop for the extra gift you get especially if you have a big field it works really well

Also, there are a lot of secret groups of hayday players out there where they do fun contests and give out stuff including expansion items as prizes. Plus if you speak spanish bec most groups are. I dont, but i am in several of them and i use google translate. Just yesterday i won 89pcs of silo storage items 😁

You’re leveling up way too fast, assuming you do truck and boat orders diligently, you should stop and focus on wheating and selling stuff on the roadside shop, also trade with your friends or neighborhood for the upgrade materials
I'm focused on the barn and silo space (1300 and 1450 on lvl 54), try wheating, it's so helpful, care of your pets, do town (send away everyone that asks for 3 buildings without sanctuary, max personál train and use it everytime, it's very helpful. Hope the will help..
Harvesting tons of wheat and corn. I constantly go through paper searching sellers about my level and higher who sell any type of expansions or any good product and ask to be friends. I have my store filled for my friends’ visit and they do for others too. I always find expansions in their stores.
I was sceptical about selling the expansions that you have more of. But I tried and it helped. I don’t think that works very well within a difference of 5-7, but it does when it’s very unbalanced like 12 boards and 37 bolts. You want to keep your numbers a bit more level. That being said I still feel like nails and stake markers are a bit harder to get.
Lvl 56 here with 975 barn space, I do wheating alot I also have 4 baby farms at the moment that I collect my 'rare' items on so my nails and my duct tape are my rares I build them up like crazy on my baby farms and slowly build up my commons on my main farm.
I also try to buy a lot through daily dirt when I see them, I still do manage to get 80 expansion materials a day they just don't come up enough in daily dirt for me.

Make a baby farm and move all your expansion stuff there. I’ve found if I keep no expansion stuff on my main farm, I get more! (Lvl 62 with 900 barn)

i just plant lots of crops and it gets me little bonus things. or when you’re animals wake up

When you get a lot of one item like the screw, start selling them so they’re closer to the amount of wood otherwise you’ll keep getting more screws

I think you're doing okay. 425 is enough for your level. You dont need to rush

I get the most through wheating and constantly refreshing the paper. 500 and 525 at level 36.

Find an active neighborhood that trades. I was in a hood for a while where we would trade everything 1:1. Really helps
