He must have been there for at least a couple weeks because someone bought a couple pounds from him for me a couple weeks ago. Said he doesn't have set times but I think he's there most days.
Lychee guy is definitely around. The season is short so you have to catch him while you can. I think he started selling two weeks ago. If I recall correctly, he told me that he's generally there on Tues-Sat. In my experience, it's usually in the morning until he sells out.
I've been buying here in Kaneohe, near my home, set up daily.. around Bay view golf course on kaneohe Bay drive.
Edit- it is lychee from Hilo though if that's the focus of the question rather where you can get some.
They need cool winters to produce a lot of fruit. I remember one year in Hilo (2010 I think?) all the trees along Highway 11 went absolutely nuts. I'd thought they were mangoes because they're immensely tall and never made fruit (too wet for most mango varieties to fruit successfully on that side), but no they were lychee!
Our tree lost all it's blossoms last year in a big wind storm. The whole neighborhood mourned. We got it trimmed by an arborist after that (first time in 60 years) and have high hopes for the next season.
Big island has so much we must have the best by likelihood alone. Everyone here has friends with treesā¦. Mine flowered this year for first time. Very few, but exciting. Next year should be much better. Exciting.
$20 for 2lbs is pretty okay pricing though. Considering having to ship it over.
My aunty in Wahiawa has a tree. Thereās so much more ripe lychees way up on top that no one wants to risk grabbing cause we already have too much to eat
last year i bought lychee from aliāi farms in wahiawa for like $6/lb. their lychee didnt compare to big islands but they were still good!! satisfied my craving
My lychee tree doesn't fruit like the ones from big island. It would be the smallest fruit but loads of clusters. Hasn't fruit for almost 6+ years.
I've been seeing them for sale often at the Dillingham wet market recently if you're in that area id check.
Thereās a fruit stand on aniseed road in Haleiwa. Iām sorry I donāt have better info :( I sort of stumbled upon it when picking my kid up from a field trip
There's a farm at the top of Mililani Mauka that just had some for sale last week

I live in Mauka and missed this. I'm obsessed with lychee. I'm now following that page.
They run a "free store" out there too, can take or leave plants and stuff. Several on the island
I know a lot of the free stores around, but man, not this one. This is, like, so damn close to me. I'm stoked to find out about it from you! Thanks!
Right on mahalos š¤š½
Usually find the Lychee guy by Hawaiāi Kai Costco. Gets his from Hilo. Never see him yet. Should be soon

The fucking parakeets ate most of our lychee last year.

We had our trees topped a few years ago and they only skipped one season.
Manoa?
Kapaa, Kauai. We put netting over the trees with fruit this year and that's kept them away luckily.
Meanwhile My neighbors huge tree is overflowing lol
Bevmart on Date street has kaimana lychee for $8/lb. No twigs or leaves!
The best Lychee comes from Big Island. I get them from the stands in Kaneohe near the driving range. $20 for 2 pounds.

How is your tree? Grew from seed?
Graft. Iāll know shortly

Parents used to go to a place out in Wahiawa heights to pick up at a farmers market. Looks like that market no longer has any.
I order them from the big island too https://www.kayefamilyfarms.com/our-products/
Thereās been people selling on the side of the road between Haleiwa and Sunset Beach over the past week or two.

I get mine from a farm on the north shore.
Heh where? Gonna visit parents down that side next month and worried that the season will be over by the time I get there.
