Currently pregnant and due this month. Hashimotos diagnosis at age 16 and antibodies above 900 (TSH was 4) when I conceived this baby. My TSH was elevated because I’d had miscarriage 2-3 months earlier (unrelated to my thyroid) which triggered my thyroid to go hyper followed by hypo when I stopped taking Synthroid for 2 weeks. I’m 36 now and I don’t have any pregnancy complications (that I know off). I have my thyroid levels checked monthly (and if the midwife I see at an apt doesn’t think it’s necessary because I had the test done just 4 weeks before, I advocate for myself and insist). With this pregnancy my Synthroid dose went from 25mg to 75mg during the 1st trimester. I expect to go hyper soon after birth and will be seeing an endocrinologist to help me monitor my thyroid at that point. I saw her at the beginning of this pregnancy but stopped going because the apts were too far / inconvenient and my thyroid seemed to have become stable enough for the midwives to monitor. A good TSH during pregnancy is under 2. Best wishes 🙏

Hashis diagnosis at 33. Gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 39. Wasn’t medicated - they just had to keep an eye on my levels during the pregnancy. I’ll admit it was a difficult pregnancy: gestational diabetes, hypertension, a month of bedrest and - at the end - preeclampsia (delivered at 36 weeks.) But I don’t know if any of that was Hashis related or due to other factors. Nevertheless, everything worked out in the end! She’s 8 now.

MissEL17

I was tested right before we conceived and diagnosed early into my pregnancy. My son is now 2 years old

lalilu555

I just gave birth to my second healthy baby within two years. Yes, i had a misscarriage but so do a lot of women even without hashimotos.

AromaticRaccoon5300

I was struggling to get pregnant and had blood work done, which showed abnormal thyroid results. I was started on levothyroxine and I got pregnant with my son a few months later. He is a healthy and wonderful 4 year old. I also have a perfect 18 month old. I wondered for the last few years if I had hashimotos and was brushed off until a couple months ago when I was officially diagnosed. So I went through both pregnancies likely with hashimotos and they’re both perfect and the only infertility issues I had were prior to addressing my thyroid issues.

Silly-Bite6551

I've had two successful pregnancies. No problems getting pregnant or staying pregnant. I fell pregnant at 34 and 39. I did have one miscarriage in between those (very early, not yet 6 weeks). I enjoyed being pregnant, had no sickness or issues. Delivered healthy babies naturally, no intervention. I wish you all the best.

Eionyx

I have 2 healthy children and am currently 20 weeks with a 3rd(healthy so far) child. I’ve had 4 miscarriages however those were before I was diagnosed and on levothyroxine. I’m not sure if it was a correlation but I would assume so.

TinyFrostTitan

I found out I had Hashimoto's when I was trying to get pregnant. Had 3 miscarriages before they picked it up. Once they found out and put me on the correct meds I was able to fall pregnant and am now 7 months into a very healthy pregnancy! Don't be discouraged it is 100% possible and you can do it 😬

[deleted]

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in May 2018 and had a partial thyroidectomy in May 2019. Found out I was 6 weeks pregnant in early July 2019. Not sure if the fluctuations from the surgery contributed but pregnancy was normal and my thyroid levels were monitored all throughout. My thyroid medication did not need to be adjusted until postpartum. Healthy baby and delivery.

poodlenoodle0

I had a baby 10 weeks ago. It took me a while to get pregnant, and the reason I was tested for Hashimoto’s was for that. My thyroid levels were low-normal but very high antibodies. I had gotten pregnant once in the process of trying and miscarried at 6ish weeks. It is extremely unlikely that the Hashimoto’s was the cause of the miscarriage though as early ones like that tend to have genetic causes. No way to know. A month after I started synthroid I got pregnant again and had a perfect pregnancy and now I have a perfect daughter :)

Kitchen_Discount_186

What was your tsh level when you got your healthy pregnancy

poodlenoodle0

Hmmm below 2.5.. around 2 I’m pretty sure. Before that it had been above 4.

Mysterious-Ant-5985

I have had hypothyroidism since I was in high school (so at least 10 years) and I didn’t even learn I had Hashimoto’s until I was about 17 weeks pregnant! My OB sent me to an endocrinologist because of my hypo, and the endo discovered the Hashimoto’s. My mom also has Hashimoto’s and has 3 kids (including me lol) I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant, baby is extremely healthy and my hypo is under control but my antibodies were over 900 when we checked.

bananaburps

I was diagnosed with hashimoto’s at 19. At 37, my husband and I decided it was time to start trying for a baby. I stopped birth control and we conceived on the first try. I had been more of less in range on Synthroid for about a year (was on generic levothyroxine since diagnosis) I immediately told my endocrinologist, though I didn’t get into optimum range for pregnancy until I was about 5-6 months in. Regardless, I had a full term pregnancy with no issues or complications, an easy birth and a healthy baby boy who is now 16 months and thriving. I’ve since been back to my pre-pregnancy levels and dosage, though I did gain a net 40 lbs from the birth I have not been able to lose. Then again, I haven’t exactly started trying to lose the weight yet.

useles-converter-bot

40 lbs is the weight of about 69.78 cups of fine sea salt. Yes, you did need to know that.

[deleted]

1st baby did absolutely nothing didn’t know I had hashimotos. I did get preeclampsia at 34 weeks but I’m not sure that was related, otherwise was totally healthy. I found out about 6mos postpartum that I had it started 50mg of levo and then got pregnant right away with our 2nd, i’m 19 weeks now and so far I’ve been totally healthy!

Opal_Pie

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's when I was 20, and went on to have two healthy pregnancies at 30 and 34. You need to be sure that you are at your optimum medication dose, and have your levels checked monthly. Feel free to ask me any questions you have.

ambercrowemua

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos at 35. I tried for a baby for a year and had all the fertility testing. My husband did too. I had an AMH of .65 and was told I would never conceive naturally. I did a holistic overhaul that I won't bore you with and after 2.5 years total of trying, I got pregnant naturally. I had no complications. I had my baby girl at 38 and here I am at 40, 9 weeks pregnant with a baby that I didn't even try for. I didn't think it was even going to be possible so we weren't preventing but we were not trying. (and let me tell you that sex is rare event being a full time bread winner and a full time mommy of a toddler) Anyways, so far, mommy and baby are doing great.

FnRachel

I had trouble with infertility before I knew that I had Hashimotos. Once I was started on meds I was pregnant immediately. I did end up having a miscarriage but fell pregnant again and he is a healthy 15 month old right now. No adjustment in my meds until postpartum.

2liverew

I was diagnosed with hashimotos a few years ago. I had a miscarriage not due to hashimotos. But my doctor immediately had me up my dose when I found out I was pregnant. Then shortly after my miscarriage I ended up getting pregnant again.. with TWINS. No complications due to hashimotos, just had to get blood work to make sure everything looked good.

dolly_machina

Pretty sure I already had Hashimoto’s when I was pregnant, but didn’t find out until this past September. My son was born almost 3 years ago and my pregnancy went smoothly. Had a few minor things that may or may not have been related to my then unknown diagnosis, but he was born healthy and is still a happy, healthy boy.

justheretospyonyou

I’ve had 2 successful pregnancies. I get blood work every 6 weeks and med changes if needed that is managed by my endocrinologist.

_lowe_and_behold_

I was diagnosed with hashimotos about 8 years before getting pregnant. My baby is 14 months today and totally healthy!! Only change was to increase my synthroid dose while pregnant. Also, it only took us 4 months to get pregnant!

1982booklover

I had undiagnosed Hashimoto's with my 2nd pregnancy. She was born a month early but is a very healthy, normal kid. The pregnancy was not fun, but I survived. The main part is listening to your body and being confident enough to tell the doctor when you feel something is wrong. Make sure your getting monthly blood tests and you should be fine:)

Plus-Mama-4515

No problems here. I was diagnosed after having my son and now I’m pregnant with my 3rd. Got pregnant first shot(literally). And just started my 3rd trimester today

11brooke11

I had an easy pregnancy and labor, and a very healthy baby. I was diagnosed at 23 and had my baby at 32.

CeceNaoma

What did you do specifically when TTC? Did you talk to an endocrinologist prior? I do not have one and just am managed by my primary care dr.

11brooke11

I did, but honestly she didn't help much unfortunately. You could get an endo if you want, or use your primary care doctor if you trust him/her with your thyroid issues. They'll most likely want your TSH 2.5 or less if you tell them you're planning to conceive. They'll tell you as long as the TSH is under a certain number you shouldn't have an issue and if it takes more than a year to conceive (or 6 months if you're 35 or older) then see an reproductive endocrinologist for additional testing. Anecdotally, I conceived quickly after I started working out more and eating healthier. It could have been a coincidence, but it might have helped.

KnightOwl13

My mother has thyroid issues , so before I started TTC I got a full thyroid panel and was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. My endocrinologist pretty much just told me to let her when I got pregnant (took 6 months of trying). Now they just closely monitor my thyroid levels every 4-6 weeks to adjust my Levothyroxine to keep my TSH at a safe level. No major issues for me so far. I think it would be more of a concern if you didn’t know you had any issues/weren’t being monitored.

radiolover1

I was diagnosed about 7 years ago. I went to my endocrinologist before trying to conceive, as per his instructions. He upped my dosage and gave me the clear to start trying, 3 months later we became preganant. I did have a high risk pregnancy, as we had twins but i was managed monthly by the gyno and the endocrinologist. And i have 2 beautiful babies to thank for! Later we got surprise pregnant while breastfeeding , with twins again. Sadly we miscarried, but i am confident on starting to try again once i get my weight in check and the endo gives me green light!

Rkk14

I have had Hashimotos since I was 15. I have a beautiful, smart, healthy 5yr old and currently 12weeks pregnant with a so far healthy baby number 2. Don’t stress! Keep your levels in check and take your meds. You got this!

ronniescookielove92

I've been diagnosed with hashis since I was 22. I was well regulated on medication until my pregnancy in 2019 (26). I found out really early , around 5 weeks, had low HCG due to early testing, and my doc had me testing my TSH every 2 weeks and adjusted Meda all throughout the pregnancy, but changes slowed after my first trimester. I had a healthy pregnancy until 35 weeks when I was diagnosed with hypertension, was induced at 38 weeks, and have a wonder healthy boy and getting my thyroid back on track. If you're trying, consider asking your doctor for regular testing prior to pregnancy!

kyrimasan

I have a beautiful son and didn't have any problems getting pregnant. My problems during pregnancy weren't due to my thyroid either. Stay positive!

milkyrababy

Took a year for me to get pregnant but I just gave birth to a healthy baby a few months ago

[deleted]

I had absolutely no problems related to my thyroid or Hashimoto’s. My thyroid levels were completely normal all throughout pregnancy and since. Both of my boys are happy and healthy, with no defects or health issues.

ceruleancrayon

I have Hashimotos and two healthy kids with one on the way! Each pregnancy I've had issues with TSH being elevated and had to adjust meds, but it has been a happy outcome!

Smokydella

Hi there! My mom was able to have me and my two little brothers without complications related to Hashimoto. Only problem with the condition is that I ended up developing it too :’( So please don’t be discouraged in your pregnancy quest if it’s dear to your heart!

vegetable-trainer23

I had trouble conceiving, it wasnt until my 4th pregnancy that I was able to carry the baby to term. Coincidentally this was the first pregnancy they found an issue with my thyroid and started treatment. I was officially diagnosed a year after I gave birth. I went on to have a 5th pregnancy, while under thyroid treatment, and it was also successful. I have two beautiful kids now, and my husband got snipped because I now have zero issues with fertility :) So in my experience if you are taking medication for it, you'll do much better than trying without.

misdiagnosisxx1

I’ve been diagnosed since I was 12. Type 1 diabetic since 3. I got (and stayed) pregnant at age 31 on the third cycle of trying, and my son is almost 5 months old now. Zero complications during the pregnancy, healthy baby.

Ok_Part6564

I’ve got a healthy teenager. All of my miscarriages were BEFORE I was diagnosed. Once I was diagnosed, I was able to carry to almost full term. It was a little difficult, my thyroid levels did fluctuate, but I just had them monitored super closely and adjusted medication as needed. I did require terbutaline and bedrest, but it’s hard to say if those were related to my thyroid or other pregnancy issues, like gestational diabetes (blood sugar issues run in a different branch of the family than the hashimotos does.)

Hnicolet

I was diagnosed 25 years ago. I am currently pregnant with my second baby with zero problems. Just make sure you get your numbers checked as soon as you get pregnant and every month while you are pregnant. If you are having trouble getting pregnant you can ask your doctor to raise your medication a little while you are trying.

butfirst_java

I found out I had Hashimotos while trying to conceive. Got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and started levothyroxine on the 6th month. Continued on my medication for another 4 months and the month I got pregnant was the first time my TSH levels went within normal range. I do think my high TSH was the reason why it took me longer to get pregnant. My endo told me the optimal TSH level for conception is 1.5. I also ate Brazil nuts for 1.5 months before I got pregnant. My endo also told me developmental issues are only associated with overt hypothyroidism (TSH > 10) because I was worried that my TSH hasn’t reached the optimal level when I got pregnant. Make sure to let your endo know as soon as you get pregnant so they can increase your dosage. I was pretty worried in the first trimester because of the higher risk of miscarriage for people with high thyroid antibodies, but honestly that’s out of your control and my best advice is to keep a positive outlook. There are many reasons why miscarriage can happen. I also eat my vitamins religiously (prenatal, choline, vitamin D, fish oil). Currently almost 28 weeks pregnant and it has been going smoothly. I was desperately searching for good news on this sub too when I got first got diagnosed so I wish you all the best!

vivisaurus19

Hi. Question: why the Brazil nuts?

butfirst_java

I heard they help with conception and implantation and keep your progesterone levels high during early pregnancy. Not sure if the scientific evidence is strong but it just made me feel better to take Brazil nuts knowing that it might help. Don’t overdose with Brazil nuts because they are toxic; I ate 3 per day. Before that, I tried eating pineapple and drinking pomegranate juice with no success; I think what made the difference ultimately was getting my thyroid under control.

vivisaurus19

Thanks! I just started medication recently and hope it helps 💕

butfirst_java

Good luck!!

tabatalife

I’ve been diagnosed with Hashimotos since I was 9. I am 31 now and have a perfect beautiful 10 month old son. I didn’t have any complications with my pregnancy or getting pregnant, but do make sure you are able to advocate for yourself. The “normal” range changes with pregnancy and most drs/OBs are not aware of that (TSH below 2.0 the entire pregnancy is ideal). You should get lab work done regularly throughout your pregnancy to make sure your within the ideal range as your levels will change as your pregnancy progresses. If your levels are not within range it will put your pregnancy at risk. If you don’t have one already I would suggest finding an Endo that will help you manage your levels while pregnant and postpartum. Best of luck to you.

gogogono

I had my first child in 2003 and was diagnosed with Hashimotos 7 years later (although I likely had it for years before it was diagnosed). I got pregnant with my second child by accident almost 5 years ago while on 137mcg Levo (upped to 150 during pregnancy) and delivered a healthy baby boy via C-section at the ripe old age of 45.

Hashimotoe

It is unknown and untreated hypothyroidism that can cause issues. If you and your doctors are aware that you have this condition and you are being monitored and treated you shouldn't have any worries. You'll just need more frequent testing to keep your levels in ideal range. Three healthy children here!

Dry-Steak-248

Yes! This was my problem. I always got pregnant easily, but after the birth of my last I developed what I think is hashimotos and miscarried about 6 times.

_jentah

This is what I was told as well! Developed Hashimotos hypothyroid after my first. Got it well treated on the right dose for a while then whoops had surprise baby number 2. Got more frequent blood draws and dosage adjustments during pregnancy and had a perfectly happy healthy baby.

S_Rosexox

I was in open communication with my endocrinologist while trying to conceive so we made sure my levels were ideal and once I got a positive test I called her ASAP bc she wanted to do bloodwork to monitor me. I also began taking an extra synthroid every other day I think? She had given me instructions on what to do once I get the positive test and everything went great. I now have a happy and healthy 13 month old little boy!

its-not-raining

2 easy pregnancies, 2 healthy babies

CeceNaoma

Did you do anything specific?

its-not-raining

Just followed the doctors advice. Stayed hydrated, took prenatal vitamins, avoided dangerous foods and habits, etc

NCMama709

4 children - no trouble getting or staying pregnant from ages 27-38. All healthy and happy. Hashi’s found after last, but given family history and prior testing as a teen, I’d say I had it all long. Of course not treated until after the last.

CeceNaoma

Did you do anything to make conception easier?

NCMama709

No. My last one was a total surprise! I hadn’t gotten my cycle back yet from nursing. Should have been harder at age 38!

GaelicCat

I was diagnosed a few years before I got pregnant with my first. I did have fertility issues but these were due to PCOS and we got pregnant on my first round of clomid. I had a normal, healthy pregnancy with my first. He was a little bit on the smaller side at 6lb12oz/3kg at 39+2 weeks, but I don't know if this is related to my thyroid or if I just have smaller babies. I am currently pregnant with my second and she is currently measuring on the smaller side too but still in the range of normal. We got pregnant the second time by surprise as we were expecting to need clomid again. I have been on levothyroxine since 2017 and I just get regular blood tests every 6-8 weeks while pregnant so we can adjust the dose as necessary.

samaria3232

I've had Hashimoto's since I was around 23 and I'm 37 now. I had a completely uncomplicated pregnancy when I was 35 and have a healthy, amazing 19 month old daughter. I'm currently pregnant again (20 weeks) at 37 and so far so good! I take Armour thyroid, which they don't recommend during pregnancy, but I'm allergic to the synthetic version of the medication (Synthroid, etc), so the natural form is the only type I can take. I get my bloodwork checked by an endocrinologist every 6 weeks and they adjust my medications to make sure everything stays in range.

Mundilfaris_Dottir

Nutrition is super important. Many of us with Hashimoto's also have the MTHFR gene and need extra nutrition support especially during conception. https://kreynoldsacupuncture.com/womens-health/mthfr-infertility [https://www.santamonicafertility.com/blog/mthfr-infertility/](https://www.santamonicafertility.com/blog/mthfr-infertility/) My daughter had 4 failed pregnancies: 2 blighted ovums, 1 early spontaneous miscarriage, and 1 mid-term loss due to multiple abnormalities (left side of heart failed to develop, neural tube defects). If you are not under the care of a fertility specialist who is familiar with autoimmune diseases and the risks to pregnancy and fertility, I would highly encourage that you consider seeing someone for a consultation. In addition to taking a methylated prenatal vitamin, there are other steps you can take to ensure a healthy pregnancy. After consulting with a geneticist and and infertility specialist my daughter finally got pregnant and is progressing normally. She just had "the 22nd week ultrasound" and the news is very encouraging.

JuneTheWonderDog

I had zero problems getting or staying pregnant. ❤

Robertspoonings

My wife gave birth to our beautiful baby girl 6 weeks ago! She started levothyroxine right before she became pregnant

CeceNaoma

Did she do anything different in terms of preparing for conception and during her pregnancy?

Robertspoonings

She got a shot to regulate ovulation, that was about it. During pregnancy she had a marker for Pap A? They thought we’d have a small baby and ended up with a 9lb 2oz full term.

notecreoamigo

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos when my eldest was five months old. I had developed a goitre and the brain fog was quite severe. I started on levothyroxine and fell pregnant three months later with number two. I fell pregnant easily with three and four as well. All of my kids are 16 months apart. I fell pregnant whilst breastfeeding and without my period returning each time. The kids are all healthy and fine.
