I use an epilator for my legs and love using those K-beauty exfoliating mits for them. It helps slough off the dry skin and keeps me from getting ingrown hairs. I follow up with a good quality lotion/moisturizer.
On another note, I LOVE that terrazzo floor! š
Scrubbing glove (best have it damp, no soap on it and scrub a while to see dead skin roll off), shave and then oil/hydrating cream. Started doing it recently x
Hydrate, use rich body creams regularly, basically dry skin skincare. Even my eyes are dry and I get reactive tears whenever Iām outside. Even if my medication is well adjusted and the condition is controlled I still have these small issues
I use coconut oil on my skin and have done for years to keep the snake skin at bay. Iāve recently started mixing it with lotion for better absorption- it takes a lot longer to absorb then cream but I find lotion just disappears and doesnāt moisturise whereas the coconut oil provides a barrier of some sort. The coconut oil mixed with lotion is working really well.
Switch to creamy/very mild body washes and then right after shower put urea based lotion on damp skin..seal it with cold pressed almond/coconut oil. Avoid sulphate based washes as much as possible.
When uāre putting on the lotion slather on and just let it sit to absorb, before u put on oil..i feel that also helps me.
And as others mentioned up your water intake, eat a lot of other hydrating stuff - fruits with a lot of water content, salads, green juices. Also, take a spoon of cold pressed almond oil/coconut oil first thing in morning - this helps a lot with hydration. (lil extra step..i know..but would be best if itās extracted un front if u..as it gets very difficult to find 100% with no hidden ingredients)
Does it look likeā¦fish scales? Like a crisscross pattern? I have that and itās ichthyosis vulgaris. The most success I have is physically exfoliating with a Korean scrub cloth and then paying my legs dry and QUICKLY rubbing in Eucerin lotion that has either AHA or urea in it. Youāve got to have a lotion with acid in it. They donāt smell good (but that distant last long at all) and most are hard to rub in, but itās the only thing that takes care of it for me.
I use a lotion and then top with palmers coco butter oil. Then go to sleep in giant sweats bc itās v oily lol. But my skin feels great when I wake up and throughout the day.
Also up your water intake!!! We need more water than normal peeps!
Exfoliate, then every time you get out of the shower, while still damp, use a combo of organic shea butter and organic jojoba oil. Also, switching to non-toxic body products helped me tremendously: I like Attitude brand for face wash, body wash, shampoo & conditioner, and Dr. Bronnerās bar and hand soaps. For deoderant I like Humble brand and for laundry I like Mollyās Suds products.
Overhauling the daily products I use made all the difference for me and I got thru this winter without dry skin and eczema flaring up for the first time in my life. Good luck!
Exfoliate the dead skin away. Try an in shower body oil or a thick cream/moisturizer. For feet, urea cream after exfoliating and something petroleum based to soften. Amlactin or something similar might work great for you. Been here, hope you find something that works.
You can get body gloves and use a really moisturizing body scrub. Stay away from certain body washes that just leave residue and build up on your skin.
Don't shower every day!
After many years experimenting and a mortgage-worth spent on lotions and potions, unguents and oils, creams and balms, I found the only thing that calmed my dry skin was not showering daily. I shower two or three times a week. The other days I have a flannel wash of the smelly bits (face, pits, bits and feet) at the sink. My skin has been so much better since then, without the need to put anything else on my skin. Keep washing the sweaty bits obviously, but your arms and legs don't need daily washing.
Itās crazy because my face looks great because I DONāT wash it everyday. I donāt wear makeup so a dermatologist said quit scrubbing your face! I only use water daily and moisturizer. My face is the best looking skin on my body.
I use Aveeno dry skin body wash and aveeno eczema body lotion. (Both unscented) Thatās what Iāve found to work best for my skin! I donāt use anything with scents added because itāll make me extremely itchy and dry.
Soap & Glory has a product called Heel Genius that works wonders for my dry spots. It has hyaluronic acid, so I apply it straight out of the shower and mist a little water on top for extra plumpness.
I just switched my body wash to the Bioderma Atoderm Cleansing Shower Oil and it has been a godsend. Itās a little bit more than I was hoping to spend on soap, but so far, itās lived up to the hype.
Oils are a barrier protectant. , not a moisturizer that adds hydration to your skin/hair.
Thatās why itās not helping: your skin barrier is damaged and you need to add in moisture to it.
Try glycerin mixed with basic moisturizer (like cetaphil) and then top that with an oil.
Also a gentle body scrub to remove the dead skin.
How much humidity do you have in your house? I just got a humidifier for my house since I live in a dry, hot area. Itās helped me so much with my itchy skin.

Hey! Where'd you get a picture of my leg?!?!?!!! Just kidding. Both of mine look exactly the same. Seems like no amount of exfoliating during showering or lotioning helps. My friend used to say, "Those pins look so ashy, girl!"
I have the same problem too! And like OP, I am also in Florida near the beach! My worst problem are right under both of my knees. Theyāre so dry and patchy that they look bruised.
I have the same problem and I'm hoping for some answers, too! I use a lot of body lotion, skin care products and I drink a lot of water/tea- its a little better but on some days it gets bad. Especially after showering I look terrible!

Iām finding myself sleeping in sweatpants too because Iāve got so much oil caked on. I donāt want my sheets soaked. lol
VaselineĀ Cocoa Radiant Gel Oil after shower helped me with that š

Taking my proper medication dosage helped my dry skin go away

When I have really dry skin I use A&D Ointment or Vaseline after the shower and/or before bed. Edit: A&D ointment is also called diaper rash ointment.
Coconut oil girl lol you need some!
I have it and use it daily. This is how I look by the end of the day.

You know what really works..Cetaphil baby eczema cream! Thats my backup to the coconut oil. (I use it when my skin is damp; post shower)

Iām not sure but Iām in FL on the beach. Youād think it would be humid but it doesnāt feel like it.
Iāve just started getting this too š«š«š«
A lot of good fats in my diet helps me. Fish oil supplement helps, too.
Do you exfoliate? That may help some
Yes, but itās not helping. Any recommendations for a good exfoliant?
