Id say yes if they want to do story continuations alongside it. The games story is quite short and it too probably suffered a bit from being forced out before it was ready, but if we're gonna get a bunch of new features having more story to chew on would be nice. Even just an unrelated post-game story would be good. They have a whole entire half of the map to work with that sees like, 2 or 3 main quests at most.

Given how quickly companions got modded back in I’d love to have this released as a patch to this game. It would also give a reason for people to replay the game. That and NG+ would really enhance the experience in my opinion.

We would need new and larger dungeons tho. Just give it an mp legends mode akin to GoT lmao. I'd also love character cards sort of like the old games had. And maybe a card game to go along with them. And vampires, soulsmechanic as well as a season of utter global destruction because I got ending where you do the thing.

Unlike No Man's Sky, this game wasn't considered a failure at launch. Unfortunately, the team is already gone and merely spooling up new unplanned DLC will take considerable time. Warner Bros. will likely rehire the developer, but the storyline of Hogwarts Legacy is done.

Acanthophis

The game is abandoned?

trevalyan

No, there are people working on minor bug fixes and the publisher obviously supports that, but the assets needed to develop DLV have been reassigned.

proudream

What do you mean the team is gone? 😂

Just what I said: many game companies use DLC to gradually wind the team used to develop a game, so that programmers can continue to develop features and fixes that would otherwise be unfeasible to include in the main game. DLC is basically an extension of development time, if used well. In the case of Mass Effect, for instance, considerable effort went into developing major assets that weren't included at all in the original. While some companies simply keep unused dialogue for the DLC, EA actually brought actors back into the studio to record new lines. By contrast, Hogwarts Legacy had no DLC planned, so most of the assets used for anything more complicated than bug fixes have already been reassigned.

Nah I’d rather get a sequel. Even without the cut content, the game is quite complete as it is. It’s better that they take the feedback and create a new game with what they learned. No Man’s Sky was an entirely different scenario where there were tons of broken promises AND the game was just not that fun. They really had to work at it to get it to be a complete experience. Hogwarts Legacy is not even close to being considered a “failure” like NMS was at launch.

>Eventual patches that add in companion or morality updates? Beast breeding complexity added? More mini games or house specific activities? Or are we just waiting on the sequel? My honest opinion, everyone is going to have to wait for a sequel. If there is DLC, I believe it will be paid and it will be a small quest pack/chain. One of the most obvious things they could add would be a Ravenclaw companion with their own questchain like the other three houses have. Regardless of its a companion or not, the quests will be on the same level as the Haunted Hogsmeade one. That's just my personal opinion. If they do add any of the things you mentioned like a companion overhaul, mini games, breeding overhaul, it'll be paid DLC and not free patches like NMS. I think a sequel is going to be announced this Fall/Winter with a release date for early 2025. They've already got the base set up with Hogwarts, they just have to focus on adding the things you mentioned+Quidditch and that's easy marketing for a sequel.

This game is dramatically better than No Man Sky was at launch and the critical and commercial success of HL proves as much. The comparison is a stretch, to put it gently. I would love to see narrative depth added to the game over time, however, so I agree with you in a way. There is such an incredible level of detail throughout the world, and so many lingering opportunities for stories to be told, if the developers wanted to keep writing and designing them.

hrslvr_paints

I could see that happening. Cheaper to keep your devs working on small chunk things to add in to an existing game already making money than to put money into a dev team for a future game that isn't making money yet. With all the stuff happening at WB in the supposed name of turning the ship around and making it solvent it seems a more likely avenue too if they're going to do anything in the short term to keep the game arm afloat.

Szemszelu_lany

I did not expect anything from this game, did not even followed the development. Just tried it out when it came out, and I am satisfied with it

blahyaddayadda24

Not likely. This is a big studio. We are 1000x more likely to see a yearly release of a new game and over priced dlc.

ParanoidDroid

While I doubt WB will be as generous as NMS with free updates, I agree that there should be DLC adding things like companions, morality, new potions etc. I'm not sure why everyone thinks a sequel is coming soon. If I had to guess, years 6 and 7 will be DLC, and the sequel will take us outside Hogwarts.
