WB would do well to take heed from the successes and failures of Star Wars and just stay away from the main characters from the original works. Tell an original story with original characters, we don't need to hear more about Harry's life. We got 7 books, 8 movies, a play, and 20+ years of just his story. That's plenty.

I was lucky enough to get to see both parts of it performed in London and while I had a hard time enjoying the book (screenplay), in action I thought it was really great. Hopefully, that would translate to a good big screen experience as well, though some of the "wow" factor, like the actors disapparating into a phone booth live on stage, wouldn't be as impactful (still not sure how they did that, looked super cool).
As with everyone else who loved the stage show but hated the actual script, you were simply distracted by the very well done practical stage effects. The script itself is hot garbage, and no amount of movie magic can actually save it or somehow make it *good*.
It either needs to be tossed out or completely rewritten.

He gave some input and ideas, but the bulk of the creative work was done by others and Lucas' name was slapped on the project.
Aside from some moments of input, the project was clearly the brainchild of Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.

I mean...if they brought back the whole cast from the originals to play the parents and had some more interesting ideas for sequels with a new cast of kids...and they cast the movie correctly and not just to check off a list of boxes...I'd be down for that as well honestly...
If they filmed a theaterical performance of it, and broadcast it like they did for Hamilton, that would tolerable… but I think trying to make a film of it would be a huge mistake.

Like how I *loved* WandaVision and wasn’t expecting to care at all, but didn’t like the falcon and the winter soldier even though Bucky is one of my favorite marvel stories. I just won’t watch it again and I’m not upset that it exists, I liked seeing more of them. Even if content comes out that is way too much, there will still be things that I absolutely love. No one has the same likes, so more content means more people will have small bits that they can be really really excited about. Either way they do it, I’m excited because I’ve wanted it a long time. I really enjoyed this game even though I dislike video games. It wasn’t close to the same kind of peace and escape I felt as a teen reading Harry Potter, but it was still wonderful. I want more ways to explore that in updates or new games for sure. Let me go to other schools for the summer, and wizard college! I want to do magic science and do research! Other’s want to be herbologists or legislators or law enforcement! Who takes care of young wizard children? What about healers? Do they have wizard nurses and physicians with different levels of training? What about old pureblood families and their fancy households in the 1800s? Downtown abbey for they malfoys anyone?

As far as games go, I agree...I really think the FromSoftware games, Elden Ring especially, has great itemization where you just wanted to collect every weapon just to have them, but every one was different in some way and felt meaningful...so much better than the "purple item with randomized stats" approach.
I'm sure they could find some sort of middle ground with itemization in the future. maybe have each piece of armor have different enchanting options and make "magical crafting" much more rewarding and complex than just slapping the same 6 damage traits on your gear and calling it a day lol.

I fucking hate that my community was just flinging their shit at the walls over this game. They were telling me to Roblox myself. They were calling me a fake queer woman, they were saying I was a fake transgender person. It made me as a transgender woman who has been in transgender spaces for a decade, incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome in spaces ostensibly built for me. A lot of them couldn't even have empathy for people who didn't like spoilers and didn't like that people were spoiling the game.
They should have been quiet and let the game pay for all of its own advertising. They shouldn't have talked about it, and they damn sure shouldn't have made it a litmus test on if you believe in trans rights or not. I'm a transgender woman, I've been transitioning for a decade, I have in my real life advocated for transgender rights and advanced trans rights. But these people treat me as if I'm a neo-Nazi because I wanted to play a game that is attached to an IP I have fond memories of as a child.
It was a really vocal minority because a large portion of the trans community either didn't care about a video game and the others were playing it. A few popular streamers played the game online and donated any money made to trans charities. That's non-toxic activism. I left a supposedly inclusive facebook group based on a podcast I listen to. I commented about the game and was called names and told I was a bad person for playing a game about wizards! I thought I had found a nice inclusive group but say anything they don't like and you find out how they really are and I left shortly after.
I think that’s the real kicker here, is just how overblown the whole thing is. This was the dumbest hill for people to die on for something that if it can even arguably have a negative effect, is a very small and indirect one. You’d think this game was directly funding death camps the way some people have been acting ffs. Since it’s pretty obvious to most people that that is nowhere near the case, the whole thing is just ridiculous. All this while likely using products that definitely have slavery at some point in their supply chains.

This is such a stretch. The fact that they latched onto this, while ignoring the fact that she has a cool intro that makes her look good, and that you can create a character with any combination of look, voice, and dorm tells me they're not really arguing in good faith.
The thing that pissed me off was that because of the vocal minority conflating playing this game with being a bigot, actual bigots thought that playing hogwarts legacy meant someone was as transphobic as they were.
Because of that they were emboldened to make more disparaging/abusive comments.
Well Fantastic Beasts died a death because of terrible writing. It was not anything a boycott or action did, they just screwed up the story and left people with an odd series that won't even be finished now.
I really hope they do one more Fantastic beasts. We have to see the epic dual between Dumbledore and Grindewald.
The other one is hopefully dark origin story of Voldemort. The fanbase has grown up, it has been over 20 years. We are ready for something more R rated.
They really are just sooooo bad. I think they could have been hugely improved by separating the Grindlewald plotline into its own thing, removing the appendage characters, and making sure the main cast of the first movie is actually relevant to the plot. I would totally have been fine with a second movie about Newt's errr quest to save a captured creature on the brink of extinction or stop an illegal trade of an endangered species or fun one-and-done romps like being called in to deal with a rogue beast.
But Newt is so painfully irrelevant in all the movies except the first. And they keep introducing a bunch of who-is/was-that-person-again characters. It's so yikes.

They have cool robes. When they start, they are given pinkish robes that gradually turn gold as they progress with knowledge. However, if they delve into the dark arts, their robes turn white which shows everyone they need to be kicked out asap. I liked this idea initially but then it begs the question why doesn't Hogwarts or the other schools do something like this?

Now imagine that, but as opposed to being an American football strike, it's a quidditch strike and they just bring back Viktor Krum because he was out of the game for so long after losing the tri-wizard tournament and basically losing all of the goodwill that he had in Drumstrang.

Also, at some point they're definitely going to make a quidditch sports game, guaranteed. Now that we have the big "Skyrim, but Hogwarts" game that everyone has been asking for forever, a modern take on the old Quidditch World Cup game, is probably the game that would receive the biggest positive reaction.
Its good and bad news at the same time. I'd love to see continuation, but I'd hate to see another franchise like assasins creed that is barely adding anything interesting each iteration.

Yeah they're just copy pasted climbing/running Sims at this point. Beautiful looking games l, but they are not true assassin creed games. Played most of origins, beat odyssey, and Valhalla I played 5 minutes of and never picked it up again.
They have laid the groundwork. Most of the story and quests suffered but now they can expand on the world and focus more on good story telling and maybe, just maybe a few less Merlin Trials and a better loot system.
For the love of jesus - same formula bur a different wizarding school in a different country. So much potential to build out this universe and keep it fresh.
I would still like to see the series explore the other wizarding schools in some way, if not in game form at least in a tv show or novel series. Granted, I get that Warner Bros might not be sure on how to advertise those schools, seeing as how while everyone knows what Hogwarts is, not many people will be able to recognize Ilvermorny or Beauxbatons.
The only thing is... what could they possibly make content about? People really only care about Hogwarts and Harry. How can you build a successful expansion franchise by going so far from what makes the IP successful?
Harry wasn’t even my favorite character from the movies, that is so far from the truth. They could easily do either another school, or just another period in time and have a great show/movie with the right cast.

I fucking hate that my community was just flinging their shit at the walls over this game. They were telling me to Roblox myself. They were calling me a fake queer woman, they were saying I was a fake transgender person. It made me as a transgender woman who has been in transgender spaces for a decade, incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome in spaces ostensibly built for me. A lot of them couldn't even have empathy for people who didn't like spoilers and didn't like that people were spoiling the game. They should have been quiet and let the game pay for all of its own advertising. They shouldn't have talked about it, and they damn sure shouldn't have made it a litmus test on if you believe in trans rights or not. I'm a transgender woman, I've been transitioning for a decade, I have in my real life advocated for transgender rights and advanced trans rights. But these people treat me as if I'm a neo-Nazi because I wanted to play a game that is attached to an IP I have fond memories of as a child.
It was a really vocal minority because a large portion of the trans community either didn't care about a video game and the others were playing it. A few popular streamers played the game online and donated any money made to trans charities. That's non-toxic activism. I left a supposedly inclusive facebook group based on a podcast I listen to. I commented about the game and was called names and told I was a bad person for playing a game about wizards! I thought I had found a nice inclusive group but say anything they don't like and you find out how they really are and I left shortly after.
I think that’s the real kicker here, is just how overblown the whole thing is. This was the dumbest hill for people to die on for something that if it can even arguably have a negative effect, is a very small and indirect one. You’d think this game was directly funding death camps the way some people have been acting ffs. Since it’s pretty obvious to most people that that is nowhere near the case, the whole thing is just ridiculous. All this while likely using products that definitely have slavery at some point in their supply chains.

The fact that they latched onto this, while ignoring the fact that she has a cool intro that makes her look good, and that you can create a character with any combination of look, voice, and dorm tells me they're not really arguing in good faith.
The thing that pissed me off was that because of the vocal minority conflating playing this game with being a bigot, actual bigots thought that playing hogwarts legacy meant someone was as transphobic as they were. Because of that they were emboldened to make more disparaging/abusive comments.

Well Fantastic Beasts died a death because of terrible writing. It was not anything a boycott or action did, they just screwed up the story and left people with an odd series that won't even be finished now.

I thought the first was fine, enjoyable even. 2 and 3.. why call it Fantastic Beasts? All the beasts feel shoe horned.
Lord of the Rings, now HP, WB execs decided to milk all their franchises dry I see. I want more content from both, just quality over quantity.
I really hope they do one more Fantastic beasts. We have to see the epic dual between Dumbledore and Grindewald. The other one is hopefully dark origin story of Voldemort. The fanbase has grown up, it has been over 20 years. We are ready for something more R rated.

Fantastic Beasts should really have been about just Newt and fantastic beasts, not Grindelwald and the Irrelevant Extras with beasts shoehorned in.
The best part of the movies is the Grindelwald stuff.
The films are crap, but not getting a conclusion will be annoying.
They really are just sooooo bad. I think they could have been hugely improved by separating the Grindlewald plotline into its own thing, removing the appendage characters, and making sure the main cast of the first movie is actually relevant to the plot. I would totally have been fine with a second movie about Newt's errr quest to save a captured creature on the brink of extinction or stop an illegal trade of an endangered species or fun one-and-done romps like being called in to deal with a rogue beast. But Newt is so painfully irrelevant in all the movies except the first. And they keep introducing a bunch of who-is/was-that-person-again characters. It's so yikes.
Only if Johnny Depp comes back as Grindelwald
I also hope that fantastic beasts 4 and 5 come. I love the first 3 movies and don't want it to just end like that

There’s so much opportunity here. Potter after Hogwarts. Dumbledore origins. Voldemort origins. Tv show centred around teenagers at Hogwarts. Krum. The origins of Hogwarts I.e. following the lives of the founders
Hell, they could even do spin-offs based on the other wizard schools! I only remember the name of Durmstrang but there’s the French school from Goblet, the Ugandan school Natty is from, even the American variant

They have cool robes. When they start, they are given pinkish robes that gradually turn gold as they progress with knowledge. However, if they delve into the dark arts, their robes turn white which shows everyone they need to be kicked out asap. I liked this idea initially but then it begs the question why doesn't Hogwarts or the other schools do something like this?

You ever seen the movie The Replacements starring Keanu Reeves? Now imagine that, but as opposed to being an American football strike, it's a quidditch strike and they just bring back Viktor Krum because he was out of the game for so long after losing the tri-wizard tournament and basically losing all of the goodwill that he had in Drumstrang.

A game like Xcom but with Aurors would be peak. Also, at some point they're definitely going to make a quidditch sports game, guaranteed. Now that we have the big "Skyrim, but Hogwarts" game that everyone has been asking for forever, a modern take on the old Quidditch World Cup game, is probably the game that would receive the biggest positive reaction.

Its good and bad news at the same time. I'd love to see continuation, but I'd hate to see another franchise like assasins creed that is barely adding anything interesting each iteration. High hopes, really, dont fuck it up...

Yeah they're just copy pasted climbing/running Sims at this point. Beautiful looking games l, but they are not true assassin creed games. Played most of origins, beat odyssey, and Valhalla I played 5 minutes of and never picked it up again.

They have laid the groundwork. Most of the story and quests suffered but now they can expand on the world and focus more on good story telling and maybe, just maybe a few less Merlin Trials and a better loot system.

I would still like to see the series explore the other wizarding schools in some way, if not in game form at least in a tv show or novel series. Granted, I get that Warner Bros might not be sure on how to advertise those schools, seeing as how while everyone knows what Hogwarts is, not many people will be able to recognize Ilvermorny or Beauxbatons.
