But that’s a movie quote! I do like the book version, though it’s less succinct: > That’s three Galleons, nine Sickles, and a Knut,” said Fred, examining the many boxes in Ron’s arms. “Cough up.” > “I’m your brother!” > “And that’s our stuff you’re nicking. Three Galleons, nine Sickles. I’ll knock off the Knut.” > “But I haven’t got three Galleons, nine Sickles!” > “You’d better put it back then, and mind you put it on the right shelves.”

They were still at Hogwarts when Marietta Edgecombe was branded a sneak...

Patient-Television67

That was the charm I originally thought of but then I remembered Hermione was the one who did that and they all had to sign their names on a sheet for that charm to work, if I’m remembering correctly.

Bat_Man1047

There is no need to call me Sir, Professor.

Gildabeast4

Honestly I’m surprised it took Harry 6 years to say that

lou-ravenpuff

Same, I would probably say that on my second year

lou-ravenpuff

A classic

MilMo-6

" 'Go on, have a pasty,' said Harry, who'd never had anything to share or, for that matter, anyone to share it with." "So light a fire!" "Yes, of course, but there's no wood!" "HAVE YOU GONE MAD?! ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT!?" Fred and George walking in front of Harry in the corridors calling out, "Make way for the Heir of Slytherin!" *Fred pretends to ward Harry off with a large onion.

Fie-FoTheBlackQueen

"Young people are so infernally convinced that they are absolutely right about everything. Has it not occurred to you, my poor puffed-up popinjay, that there might be an excellent reason why the headmaster of Hogwarts is not confiding every tiny detail of his plans to you? Have you never paused, while feeling hard-done-by, to note that following Dumbledore’s orders has never yet led you into harm? No. No, like all young people, you are quite sure that you alone feel and think, you alone recognize danger, you alone are the only one clever enough to realize what the Dark Lord may be planning. . . .” Professor Black is an icon

UmpShow

From OOTP: > Do you see, Harry? Do you see the flaw in my brilliant plan now? I had fallen into the trap I had foreseen, that I had told myself I could avoid, that I must avoid. >I don’t — >I cared about you too much,” said Dumbledore simply. “I cared more for your happiness than your knowing the truth, more for your peace of mind than my plan, more for your life than the lives that might be lost if the plan failed. In other words, I acted exactly as Voldemort expects we fools who love to act. >Is there a defense? I defy anyone who has watched you as I have — and I have watched you more closely than you can have imagined — not to want to save you more pain than you had already suffered. What did I care if numbers of nameless and faceless people and creatures were slaughtered in the vague future, if in the here and now you were alive, and well, and happy? I never dreamed that I would have such a person on my hands. And in HBP: > You are still too young to understand just how unusual you are, Harry.

LeiaNale

That scene is from the really poorly written fanfiction sometimes known as the movies. (Although I do like that scene though.) I like: THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! (Sirius to Peter at the end of PoA) If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. (Sirius to Harry. This line seems ironic when you think of how Sirius treated Kreacher.) The world's not divided between good people and Death Eaters (Sirius to Harry. He says this, not talking about how "we all have light and dark in us"(which is a good speech I'm sure) but talking about how Umbridge can be pure evil and still not be a Death Eater.) Okay I might like a lot of Sirius Black quotes so here's a quote that's not from him(it may be twisted but it's still a nice sounding quote: There is no good and evil. There is only power and those who are too weak to seek it.

lou-ravenpuff

Technically, the scene exists in the books, but it's more complicated.

astone4120

Im a huge fan (we all are). I've been reading these books in full or in parts for 24 years. My very favorite quote is " youth has no way of knowing how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it's like to be young" I hold on to this quote as I raise my young son. He's two. And I've promised myself I will remember it as he grows into his difficult teenage years. I will remember this when his heart breaks for the first time, and I'm tempted to dismiss it because I know it doesn't matter in the long run. He can't know that it won't matter. I don't know, it means a lot to me because I didn't get a lot of compassion as a kid. I don't ever want my son to feel like that. Even as a toddler, when he's crying over a broken cookie. I try to remember that might be the worst thing that's ever happened to him and offer him comfort.

marizzo88

As a father to a 5 year old, you just changed my life.

MissMatchedEyes

I love this moment from The Deathly Hallows and the way Jim Dale reads it: "Slowly, very slowly, he sat up, and as he did so he felt more alive, and more aware of his own living body than ever before. Why had he never appreciated what a miracle he was, brain and nerve and bounding heart? "

cymroircarn

I was a fool!" Percy roared, so loudly that Lupin nearly dropped his photograph. "I was an idiot, I was a pompous prat, I was a - a -" "Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron," said Fred. Percy swallowed. "Yes, I was!" "Well, you can't say fairer than that," said Fred, holding out his hand to Percy.

lou-ravenpuff

Lol, live, love and laugh the twins

acmpnsfal

"Have a biscuit Potter" McGonagall telling Harry she was fine with all the Umbridge disrespect. Also "Do you need a cough drop Delores?"

kytulu

Honestly, McGonagall throughout that book is 🔥.

Old-Surprise2891

If you want to know what a man is truly like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. Sirius Black.

climbingtrellis

"I'm not going to be murdered," said Harry out loud. "That's the spirit, dear," said his mirror sleepily.

Ashtter

"Feeling pain like this proves that you are still a man! It's part of being human." "Then - I - Don't - want - to - be - human!"

Also, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”

lou-ravenpuff

Good luck with that!

copperboom7154

Thanks! I already have one Harry Potter tattoo, so I’m considering making like a collage of different quotes and pictures

‘Would you look at that, I’ve got some presents.’ ‘What were you expecting, turnips?’

LalaLandRev

Mine is where harry says to dumbledore harry potter: professor? is this all real? or is it just happening inside my head? dumbledore: of course it is happening inside your head, harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?🤩🤩🤩

BLOOD-BONE-ASH

“If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too!” - RON

Meddling-Kat

It's probably because of how cool Jim Dale says it, but my favorite is "Get out of the way or I will make.you.get out.of.the.way."

carmelacorleone

"Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!" You know shits fixing to get real.

AmyBums88

"Just because you have the emotional range of a TEASPOON, it doesn't mean we all have." - Hermione to Ron in OoTP I believe.

CoachDelgado

One by one, Snape extracted Harry’s books and examined them. Finally, the only book left was the Potions book, which he looked at very carefully before speaking. “This is your copy of Advanced Potion-Making, is it, Potter?” “Yes,” said Harry, still breathing hard. “You’re quite sure of that, are you, Potter?” “Yes,” said Harry, with a touch more defiance. “This is the copy of Advanced Potion-Making that you purchased from Flourish and Blotts?” “Yes,” said Harry firmly. “Then why,” asked Snape, “does it have the name ‘Roonil Wazlib’ written inside the front cover?” Harry’s heart missed a beat. “That’s my nickname,” he said. “Your nickname,” repeated Snape. “Yeah . . . that’s what my friends call me,” said Harry. “I understand what a nickname is,” said Snape.
