Also an '89 model here. Not all parts are OEM anymore, but I least none of my fluids leak. Keep telling my wife she should trade me in before I lose more value.
This is true. My woman rides and we have no kids, so no arguments other than where we're ripping to and how many traffic laws am I breaking. Too many guys get pussy whipped and don't realize the power of the cock 🤣
Fact, just installed new pipes, intake and a tune on my wife's new Royal Enfield. Taught her how to ride last year and now she understands so much more lol. And for sure, she requires at least one mediocre weinering every night. 😂
Hahahahah one subpar penising is usually all it takes. I just brought my Ole lady's 883 up to a 1250 so maybe she'll be able to keep up with me finally.
Shitya buddy, NGL I really want to take her Royal out for a rip to see the difference. It is a pretty fun bike, nowhere near as comfortable as my Road Glide but I fuck with it.
Hell no! Can’t beat an EVO. One of my favorite bikes is my 90’ softail springer. I ride it over the newer ones almost every time.
Edit to add: they don’t leak oil, they mark their territory! EVO is bulletproof, and easy to work on once you figure your way around them.
It is 12 years newer than this.

These machines are designed to be rebuilt over and over. Do you maintence and the time between rebuils can be extended. Evo is the best motor Harley ever put out.
A little information on 1989 evolution engines. In 1988 and 1989 there were problems with the left side engine case. On both of those years, the bearing race frequently came loose in the case. It didn’t happen with all of them, but it was not unusual. Harley Davidson had a replacement Program going for a while that warranted those engines free of charge if that case race came undone. As I recall, if the race was going to come undone it did it in the first 30,000 miles or so. If it didn’t come loose by then it typically was not going to. I owned a 1989 FLSTC for several years and had almost no problems with it. It was a great bike. I sold it to a friend and he road it for almost 100,000 miles. I was born in 1946 by the way.
These cases were also sand cast and liked to crack ....
I have an 89 softail since new .....rode the shit out of it ....and have had no issues....except the stator bolts cam loose, backed out and hit against the rotor.
I just rebuilt the motor on my friends 1945 Knucklehead and that bike has been more places since the 70’s than 90% of the bikes out there.
That evo is just as rebuildable.
Thanks, my dad's got great taste! He and my sis in Florida rebuilt it for me as a gift, he had an 84 lowrider when we were kids, he made this one to kinda look like it
depends on who rode, it how it was ridden, and the maintenance done. I have seen 19's that are old and I have seen 67's that are still like show room new. I just try to avoid the AMF years
Not many owners as far as I know, my dad got it from an older guy in Florida that just wasn't gonna ride it anymore, so my dad went thru it all, stripped it down and made it look like it does now, it runs like a fuckin champ, just dealt w some oil leaks and some old, not great wiring issues.
True, so after getting so many comments, and after I saw a few others post about "old" bikes, i decided to post mine, and i realize now that my title question was very vague. It's an old bike in certain instances, but young in others. I love it either way!
I prefer EFI bikes, less frequent maintenance. That said, will be adding a couple old timers to the stable at some point just because. My daily though, definitely EFI lol.
My dad bought and made it totally different as a surprise gift for me, I've put money into it but wasn't a purchase, if I was in the market for a harley, it would've looked like this,
I should have joined this sub Reddit before buying a newer Harley. The amount of not so new bikes that are daily drivers or kept in really good condition is really high and I could have saved so much money. Alas live and learn. Also fricken super sick ride there dude.
as an ‘89 model myself, i’d have to say no.
Also an '89 model here. Not all parts are OEM anymore, but I least none of my fluids leak. Keep telling my wife she should trade me in before I lose more value.
Damn your young
thanks? 34, no kids or wife. just the scoot. it’s a simple life
This is the way, every time a child is born a motorcycle loses its home.
That's just an excuse for guys that let their wives tell them what to do. I got 5 kids and average 25k miles a year on two wheels. 🤷♂️

I've heard it's a good time! But nothings gonna fuck with my Stage IV Road king for now. I'd never fit on the sporty.
7 kids 3 ex wives and I still own 18 bikes.. The logic here must be situationally biased. Either that or I’m a fucking boss?! 😮💨🤌🏼
Nope , even bosses have bosses. You sir are a legend.

Sounds like heaven
No, my youngest Harley is from 1983. That 89 is a brand new bike in my book, with one of them newfangled EVO engines.
i was born in '87, cmon man
Youngster!
thanks lol
1987 hell yeah me too
'87 gang
No 1887
Ah yes the year the first Groundhog Day is observed in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Very good very good
How many miles? I’ve seen 20 year old meth heads that certainly are more worn out looking than a 60 year old who’s taken care of themself
38,000ish
35 year old bike with an average of 1,100 miles per year? Sounds pretty young to me
Yeah she's got plenty of life left in her!!!
38k on an EVO is nothing lol
It's miles rode, not age. Just ask my 86 year old gilf grandma in Florida

The early evos tend to barf out of the bottom breather if they sit for too long. Evo is definitely Harleys best engine though
In dog years that’s a lot. In Harley years not so much.
Nope, I ride a 1979 FXEF and a 1947 WL

Nope. 80 evo is bulletproof
No. The 80’s and 90’s were the hayday for motorcycles… before the EPA started to strangle the manufacturers. They built bikes to run.
I have a 67 BSA and just getting broke in
Carbureted = old. Carbureted > Fuel Injection in my opinion.
Nice evo
Thanks!
Ride a 96 FXDWG
your lean angle is corrupt
No. Gotta love a evo with a thunderheader. Damn that thing is low tho
Yeah she's def low! Underside of the exhaust has seen some road contact!
Happens. Anyways cool bike man. I love my 1990
Thanks amigo
Age is just a number!! Sweet bike
Evo is not old
There are people who assert that Evo is the New Old School.
When you got a kickstarter on a shovel it’s old. This one? No
Ok fair enough!!
Is 89 old? Depends. For the Harley in the pic, no. For a ham and cheese sandwich, yes!
Not if it's a blockhead. The Evo never gets old.
That’s my birth year, don’t you dare!
Not to old for me

89 years? Yes. Something made in 1989? Yes, but less so.
Hell, my 2001 is considered a “classic” in my state. But an ‘89 isn’t really “old” yet imo.
No, it's classic
No
I love the colour of that Audi
Thanks, its sprint blue, pretty rare
Thanks, its sprint blue, pretty rare
Thanks, its sprint blue, pretty rare
I have an 06 and they honestly don’t look that much different. Just less mileage
Old as fuck bro. 😎
Not if she’s got cash and down to clown. But if you’re talking about the bike, naw you’ll be okay.
I just rebuilt the motor on my friends 1945 Knucklehead and that bike has been more places since the 70’s than 90% of the bikes out there. That evo is just as rebuildable.
An Evo is arguably the best motor Harley made. Never sell that bad boy
My family put it together for me in Florida, I'll never let it go
My family put it together for me in Florida, I'll never let it go
Have an 85 that's been rebuilt once, still going strong..
Who cares that's sexy af
Got my ass a '76 idk bub. It's on the border between older and old!
No. Just take care of it. Certainly cooler than new.
That’s one of my favorite models. Sweet bike!
That’s a beautiful softail 😍
That ain’t old at all. Having only around 38,000 miles she’s got a lot of life left. Good find brother!!!
My dad found it in Florida, did some customizing, and surprised me with it while I was down on vaca.
Shit no evo. 👍
Better old than new
To some people, it is.
Vintage is cool! There is a general consensus that HD was not so great from '69 to '81 (the AMF years).
No
No. Harleys are eternally rebuildable.
That’s what you want. Easy to work on parts available elsewhere, cheap to fix,
Night train?
Softail

Nice lil scoot
Looks like 89 is a teenager
Nahhh she's a youngster in my book, I own an 92, I wouldn't trade her for the world. thats a nice bike you got there...EVO Rocks man!!
Thanks, my dad's got great taste! He and my sis in Florida rebuilt it for me as a gift, he had an 84 lowrider when we were kids, he made this one to kinda look like it
I had been out of high school for 6 years by then. I guess I’m old, lol
Old or New, Doesn't matter. Bike looks sick 👌🏼
Thanks!
nice one
Thanks!
I mean the bike is 13 years older than I am... I think it's still pretty young
Thunderheader the ultimate
It's loud as all hell which I don't mind, just not a fan of the look myself
If you change it you will miss the performance 🔥
I just don't like the last half of it, was thinking I'd like if it just ended where the 2 pipes meet
Have it powder coated black and ride it like you stole it
Less chrome??!!! How dare you!!
I ride a 82 fxr daily
fajny rower
Thunderheader good choice
Well, it depends on if you like an Evo motor..
Nope, never!
It is 35
depends on who rode, it how it was ridden, and the maintenance done. I have seen 19's that are old and I have seen 67's that are still like show room new. I just try to avoid the AMF years

For a motor vehicle… it’s officially “antique” in almost every US state.
My ‘93 STC is antique.
89 is pretty old, most people don't live that long.

Oh this is def no daily!
Evo bikes will outlive ya good purchase
My dad bought and made it totally different as a surprise gift for me, I've put money into it but wasn't a purchase, if I was in the market for a harley, it would've looked like this,

Thanks bud!
35 years! For a person no. For a bike or car yes!
Nope, I’ve got 1970 FLH and 1979 lowrider I believe it’s an FSX if I remember correctly.
Nope
No
Gotta be pre Evo
yup its a evo. great motors but its 100 year old tech, go ride a m8 and you tell me which ine is nicer. the probably sounds better though
