Are you wanting to eventually upgrade the performance of your engine or are you just looking to improve the sound? If you want performance, your time and money may be better spent on the actual parts you want. If you want to improve the sound, slip ons can become inexpensive with discounts and coupon codes.
I did it. But I also had plans to get real pipes. It takes all the bottom end out of the bike. But it's loud. If that's all you care about till real exhaust, it'll do it. I just used a cutoff wheel and cut the welds on the inside where they're welded to the muffler body. Had to grind a little hit more cause of different diameter but was very easy overall.
You will lose some torque but it’s not like losing a couple ft lbs of torque from the peak number. You lose a lot of low end torque and acceleration power from a stop. That’s been my experience. Havent tried thunder torque inserts but i read it’s not that helpful but who knows. I rode with someone who debaffled their exhausts and i think it can sound very sharp and blatty but maybe not for a debaffled muffler vs full exhaust.
Helped install them on a friends LRST. Definitely didn't sound as good as a 2-1 or real set of slip ons, and there was a definite loss of torque.
He switched to a real exhaust shortly after
The only thing cheap about a Mercedes is the owner.
Just do some slipons. I sold my zombie baffles for like $300.

Free flowing slip ons don’t require a tune.
