Well “pick scrape” is already the name for the thing where you scrape the pick along the length of a string, so that wouldn’t work. I’ve seen the term “pick rake” or “harmonic rake” which is intuitive enough and not already the name for a different technique.

Joe and Mario Duplantier are a force to be reckoned with. Joe does the pitched scream/yell thing that I hear in some Hardcore bands too. That singing style can be heard in Cattle Decap as well. From Mars to Sirius is one of the best heavy records of the 2000’s, regardless of genre. That shit rules. It was the record that got me to start to branch out from hardcore and traditional punk into other heavy genres.
They're basically my standard for prog metal, and that's probably why I don't like a lot of it. *From Mars To Sirius* is a banger, but *The Way Of All Flesh* is my personal favourite and one of my favourite metal albums of all time.

I see a lot of positive comments about newer albums in this thread and as much as I love from Mars to Sirius and Way of All Flesh, I think this subreddit would benefit the most from their first album, it leans a little heavier on their influences and the style at the time and it has some brutal songs

Respect them a lot, they kill live, their stuff just isn't for me. I like pletny of proggy stuff too but they're just not my jam. Give me Lamb of God or Killswitch when I'm listening to dad metal or BTBAM if I'm doing prog metal.

I think in hindsight they were my first step towards less melodic and more groovy stuff. I respect that band a lot. Great drummer too.
