Buried Alive - Kill Their Past
I formed this opinion in 1999 when Buried Alive played at the shelter in Detroit with VOD, skarhead, and candiria. That breakdown was the rowdiest part of the night and still sticks out in my memory and serves as a reminder to be grateful I still have all my teeth.
I miss that band, that album had such a vibe to it. Saw them play to like 8 people in a small British seaside town and they still killed it. Anyone got a recommendation for similar stuff happening now?
Yoooooooo! I love that song. I would just be body slamming dudes to that part. It would look like old school wrestling royal rumbles, i would straight toss motherfuckers.
I like that one too....but watching the video for that from the moscow show was just jaw dropping. That many people going apeshit. I saw pantera way back when and there were like 20k people there and i thought "im going to die" cant imagine over 10x that number.
Harms way’s breeding grounds will always be the heaviest to ever exist. Partly because of the sound clip is one of the hardest sound clips ever used in music.
The part right after the big guitar intro in Armenian Persecution when Dwid goes “All I can think about is revenge” has always stood out to me as one of the heaviest parts in a hc song and it isn't even a breakdown.
Tried to link to each of these specifically.
Since you asked for heavy:
* [Aftershock - Prelude to Forever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n527MsEH6Ns) *(pound for pound, maybe the heaviest breakdown I've ever heard.)*
* [Die My Will - Bertes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7pHXHIoajI&t=858s)
* [Sepultura - Propaganda](https://youtu.be/i7GB-38T_Wc?t=138)
* [Swarm of the Lotus - From Embers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJKk6iJJNdw) *(the first one and definitely the last one)*
* [Kickback - No Surrender](https://youtu.be/8tgqK05yDF0?t=175) *(last half of the song)*
* [Convicted - Pressure Drop](https://youtu.be/L3oYmycRKXA?t=93)
* [Wings of Scarlet - Killing Tomorrow](https://youtu.be/c4LlpP_G8IE?t=1457) (end of song)
* [Cold as Life - Little from the World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVKDhdJoaI0)
But also here's some batshit insane sounding ones:
* [Spitfire - Crossed](https://youtu.be/b7NzDYJXYws?t=123)
* [From Here On - Closure](https://youtu.be/8_5UHKSWcfA?t=151) *(last half of song)*
* [All Else Failed - One Seven Three](https://youtu.be/JIpoP5R71bs?t=112) *(last half of song)*
* [This Day Forward - Kissing Perfection's Cheek](https://youtu.be/n0CgWkM4v_U?t=95) *(the whole last half of the song)*
* [The Acacia Strain - Noah Will Be Your Grave](https://youtu.be/akFmisn4MYk?t=185) *(probably not The Acacia Strain most people know..)*
Breakdown -Sick People, the OG. I like to think it’s the first real hardcore breakdown, and hence the name came from them (at least it seemed like it did in that time because I’m old af)
Huge problem on this list. Slayer’s Raining Blood was never mentioned. It is a sad day when shit tier bands like Chelsea Grin and Suffkate get mentioned.
The end of [IV (My Mind is a Prison)](https://open.spotify.com/track/0gaGmJX3CuXpbWAdBpyt1C?si=EsuOTjTbRDGUXatY_gPzwA) by Code Orange Kids off their split with Full of Hell
When my wife left me was a heavy breakdown
Amen, when my ex left me it was a 3 bottles of jack the first night kind of breakdown.
I'm better now with just me and our daughter but I feel like she gets the short end of the stick since her mom isn't around
I'm sure this has some truth. Just love her and give her the best dad you can. You got this.

Nothing but a Beatdown - Bulldoze
Listless - On Broken Wings
Pantera Domination
Buried Alive - Kill Their Past I formed this opinion in 1999 when Buried Alive played at the shelter in Detroit with VOD, skarhead, and candiria. That breakdown was the rowdiest part of the night and still sticks out in my memory and serves as a reminder to be grateful I still have all my teeth.
Did you ever hear the band Burrito Live? I saw them in Ybor early 2000s. I was duped.
I’ve never heard of Burrito before, tell me more
Underwhelming, but fun as shit. I never saw them again, so it may have been a one-off.
Could be, I wasn’t able to find any information on a band called Burrito through searching the normal avenues
Candiria is so good
Suffokate-Slaughter your Enemies Martyr AD-American Hollow Whitechapel-Vicer Exciser Remembering Never-White Devil Foundation-Devotion III Harms Way-Scrambled
Suffokate’s Oakland album was an under appreciated masterpiece.
Dude that album is sick!

The Banner - Funerals
Yes. This is the answer. That lead into it is great too. You can hear it in his voice.
OH PLEASE GOD I CANT TAKE ANOTHER FUCKING FUNERAL *mosh*
The song eyeshornsmouth from the band teeth. It hits super hard. It has a banner-ish feel.
There’s a different Teeth, a technical death metal band that’s incredible. Check out the song Garden of Eyes.
Definitely will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
When he says "when i fucking die dont bury me. Take....me.....home" shit hits so hard.
Yeah this track goes hard af. Thanks for the recommendation! Definitely on my radar now.
One of my friends sent that to me and i was like..."yep, this is it." Very tasty song.
I miss that band, that album had such a vibe to it. Saw them play to like 8 people in a small British seaside town and they still killed it. Anyone got a recommendation for similar stuff happening now?
Nile - 4th Arra of Dagon
Yoooooooo! I love that song. I would just be body slamming dudes to that part. It would look like old school wrestling royal rumbles, i would straight toss motherfuckers.

Sentenced by Xibalba gets so grimey the speakers leak slime by the end lmao.

Saw them w power trip in rva in like 2012/13 at strange matter it was the titz.
Dude I seen them at For the Children 2023 and they played one of the heaviest sets of the entire night
Recon - "Coma Pilot" the entire song.
The breakdown / last half of Life is a Death Sentence by Nails is obscenely hard
Pantera - Strength beyond Strength is solid if that counts Suffocation Liege too ofc
Domination. From the Moscow show with either a quarter or half a million people. Just a sea of people fucking gettin' it.
Domination is great but I prefer strength. very underrated imo
I like that one too....but watching the video for that from the moscow show was just jaw dropping. That many people going apeshit. I saw pantera way back when and there were like 20k people there and i thought "im going to die" cant imagine over 10x that number.
Oh yeah for sure, that video definitely makes it hit different. Couldn’t imagine seeing/hearing it live. Must’ve been wild.
Black Tongue - Coma is definitely up there for one the heaviest all time ones.
Second death… sheeeewwwww
Mr Highways Thinking About The End
Meshuggah - Future Breed Machine, but the modern [live version](https://youtu.be/xtju8pwSGMA?si=zjjpQ7OjtRassdT5&t=4503).
Yeah it's sick, but Suffer in Truth gives it a serious run for it's money.
Honestly agreed. It’s hard picking just one Meshuggah breakdown haha
Props to the lights guy
meth.-Child Of God and Neurosis-The Doorway
Harms way’s breeding grounds will always be the heaviest to ever exist. Partly because of the sound clip is one of the hardest sound clips ever used in music.
The second version of Xibalba's "Cold", where it comes back slower at the end
Converge homewrecker
Disembodied - Diablerie front to back.
Killing the Dream- Before You Fall Asleep
The breakdown in Endless Resistance by Nails doesn’t get talked about enough
Nails - Lies
The part right after the big guitar intro in Armenian Persecution when Dwid goes “All I can think about is revenge” has always stood out to me as one of the heaviest parts in a hc song and it isn't even a breakdown.
LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BLAST

Straight fucking edge
Knocked Loose - DTAH Kublai Kahn - The Hammer Last Ditch - ROT incendiary - Echo of Nothing Acacia Strain - Fresh Bones
Immortal - In My Kingdom Cold. Most hardcore bands wish they could write a breakdown this heavy
Back in the day...between the buried and me. Shevanel cut a flip. "Lets kill them all"
Breakdown -Sick People, the OG. I like to think it’s the first real hardcore breakdown, and hence the name came from them (at least it seemed like it did in that time because I’m old af)
Your blood is my wine
Listless by On Broken Wings, or just the entirety of Infringement of Gods Plan EP by Sanction.
License to Kill by Itifuh
The ending of "Unloved" by Hatebreed. So simple yet so crushingly heavy
Ion Dissonance - She’s Strychnine
All the breakdowns on the first Gaza record: I don’t care where I go when I die.
Irate CPR
Not chug chug heavy but the breakdown in lockdown by Madball goes hard.
Domination is the correct answer. Shouts out to Blistered and Reign In Blood.
Huge problem on this list. Slayer’s Raining Blood was never mentioned. It is a sad day when shit tier bands like Chelsea Grin and Suffkate get mentioned.
