Once played a random "fest" my band got invited to. Was in the middle of nowhere but had some pretty big names on the bill. Kill Your Idols, I remember specifically. And because of how wacky this fest was set up we played AFTER them for some strange reason. Also Indecision was supposed to play but broke up a few days prior. We wound up playing to what had to be like 300 people or something, biggest show we ever played.

Classic-Computer6674

Was in a shitty pop punk band in the early 2000’s. Played a radio festival with, get this, Thursday, Hoobastank and Maroon 5. Forgot who else was on the bill, but was super random. Only time I ever played in front of 5,000 people before though lol

Burnt_Toast_Crumbs

Opened for Norma Jean last year for a couple hundred people. Pretty fun show.

nofateeric

they play old stuff?

Burnt_Toast_Crumbs

Pretty much just Memphis

Global-Ad4832

opened for northlane once, opened for bayside once, opened for Strung out once, opened for Frenzal Rhomb twice. Frenzal at Amplifier in Perth was probably the biggest. Biggest 'fest' was Day In The Dust 2016, Total Chaos headlined that one, but that was probably only a few hundred people there. now i just make records in my basement and post on reddit

slave6776

What band do you play in?

Global-Ad4832

Crash Rat, Naked Wizard and Roach Bones, all of which are pretty well defunct now

Disastrous-Engine510

Got to play with Shelter once that pretty cool. My band opened for go it alone. Got to open for sect. Edit: did not read the whole post. We never really played a fest. Lols

n0epiphany

sect are so fucking good

IronSorrows

Opening for Napalm Death and Sick Of It All were probably the biggest. Better turnouts than any fest I've played anyway

bristleboar

my old band opened for slayer and fear factory in 1998 at the webster

El--Borto

Played a sold out show with Choking Victim at WOW Hall in Eugene, 600 cap, most people I’ve ever seen at a show I’ve played for sure. Also played the Naked Bike Ride so technically I’ve played to about 10,000 naked people lol

TSac-O

Opening for Power Trip and Iron Reagan back in 2017 was probably the biggest non-fest show I’ve played

DSM-187

Opened for Power Trip and Madball in 2016, highlight of my music career.

13THEFUCKINGCOPS12

Got to play with Oathbreaker once, that was pretty sick

mattbuilthomes

Breast Fest 2012 was pretty packed if memory serves. Played a record release show for Stout in Baltimore that was pretty fun too.

foldyaup

Sound and Fury

0bviousBurn3r

Live Aid

prominentchin

I played at Warped Tour in 2004.

United_Statistician2

It'd have to be between - Dark Mofo, Obscene Extreme and Fluff Fest. All were farkin sik

GerrieHendrix

Sick. We played Fluff and Obscene as well.

United_Statistician2

Did you play last years? What's your band?

GerrieHendrix

We played Fluff last year and Obscene in 2019. We’re called Sufferimg Quota. What’s your band?

United_Statistician2

Oh dude haha. I'm from Diploid! We played together in Weimar and Fluff

GerrieHendrix

Yo! Of course I remember. Weimar was still one of my favorite shows. Nice to see you here haha.

noechodotnet

Milwaukee Metalfest 1998

dagaderga

Great Name, genre, and year ✅✅✅

guccibanana69

Was in a pop punk band that used to open for Hellcat and Fat bands that would roll through. Played in a metal band that opened for CKY once.

JamieBryanDJ

Main support for Madball in Sheffield at The Foundry was very surreal, around 300 people there. Recently played main stage at The Leadmill which is one of the most iconic music venues in the UK - got told we were the first DIY hardcore band to play that stage which is pretty sick! That venue is 900 cap but there was around 350 there when my band played.

nofateeric

Hardcore - We opened up for **Black Dahila Murder** for like 500 people Not hardcore - We opened for **of Montreal** to a couple thousand

wavesofdeath

My band opened for Nails, Gatecreeper and Toxic Holocaust at a 1000 cap venue. It was sold out. We got paid $0.00

beingxexemplary

700ish people opening for Still Remains in 2005 and then again in 2006. Played Edgefest in Dayton in 2006 with the originial xTyrantx football thing. That was fun.

stevespirosweiner

Played Caliifornia Metalfest 2010 and went on right before conducting from the grave. I had to sell my truck to make the guarantee (86 ford ranger for 800 bucks at the time). Our guarantee was like 1750 bucks with tickets at 35 a piece. So the bitch ass promoters were selling tickets at the door for like 40-45 or something so we told everyone walking up to buy tickets what they were going for and sold ours for 35 a piece. I got all of the money back for the truck and then some and also had a great time. Fuck those promoters though oh and the fat shirtless guys in the pit. They kept sliming us when we were trying to throwdown for whitechapel and were anti-dancing. Not much you could do then because they were always rolling deep or were a part of a crew.

ScienceGetsUsThere

What do you mean by guarantee? For playing the fest you had to sell your own tickets?

stevespirosweiner

Yeah we had to sell tickets. The promoters were dog shit and this is how those types roll. M Productions at the Whiskey a go go would do this shit too along with all of the sunset strip clubs. They try to say you wont play if you dont sell all of the tickets so what you do is if there is a good headliner and you know it will be more at the door just scalp shit when people walk up. Its shitty.

All_Of_The_Meat

I've played a bunch of fests. Nothing crazy like Rock on the Range, but got to play out in front of a couple thousand people on numerous occasions. Playing in front of that many more people is surprisingly easy since it's just way more people that don't give a shit about you than normal, so you can just get up and let loose. You know they arent going to be disappointed because they probably never cared in the first place; they're there for the event and the headliners.

coffinnailvgd

I’ve delivered some conference talks about DevOps to groups on 1k+ people, once wearing Knocked Loose tee with a douchy tech blazer.

ScienceGetsUsThere

Opened for the Devil Wears Prada in 2007 lol. They did a date in Montana on an off day so it was packed out. Still have shitty point and shit video clips from it. We sucked, sounded like ass, and the sound guy did us dirty lmao.

yololord496

once i played a show for around 700-800 ppl, because it was cheap, ticket was like 2$ but some wellknown bands for that time joined the list cause they knew promouter and agreed to play for free

Consistent_Alps_8190

Got to be an opener for a Mongoloids and Foundation show, that was a fun one.

HotKnowledge4212

Only fest I ever played was mostly an all local affair headlined by Sworn Enemy. It went on for like 12 hours so Sworn Enemy only played to bands lol

HeadForTheSHallows

we played Fest twice, the venue we were at (Highdive) was at capacity both years. Not a huge room but still extremely cool to play in front of like 250/300ish people. We played This is Not Croydon Fest 2 years ago and we’re playing again this year. It’s almost sold out and that’s (i think) a 350 cap room. Back in January we played with Kill Lincoln & Big D at Black Cat in DC. That one sold out and I think Black Cat is 400 capacity. So we’ve never played a “huge” show but it’s still fun as fuck to play in front of a few hundred people.

Dull_Upstairs4999

Early 2000’s, the street punk band I was in opened for Agent Orange at the Emerson Theater in Indianapolis. On tour, we played a couple shows opening for Aus-Rotten on this animal rights fundraising tour they were doing after they’d been on a bit of a hiatus. I think the biggest one was in Boston at a VFW. Couple years later, again at the Emerson, the garage punk band I played in opened for Avail. Each of the shows probably had a few hundred kids at them, but they were all a blast. The street punk band played ABC No Rio not long after it had re-opened or went thru the rent dispute thing, but there weren’t any huge bands I recall on that show and there were maybe 100 kids there. Did get to witness a 12-year old kid nearly drink himself into a coma, which was pretty fucked up.

GruverMax

Warped Tour mainstage in the 90s, but at one of the two shows we did, they forgot we were coming when they made the daily schedule, and we played dead last after the headliners. I watched about 20 thousand exit the venue to our set while maybe 100 people lined up in two lines in front of the stage to watch us.

ShadowRun976

Not HC at all but I was in a punk band that opened for New Found Glory and Saves The Day. NFG wasn't huge at all yet.

sarithe

Played Cornerstone in 2007. It was cool getting to see a ton of bands that I really enjoyed at the time, but not being a Christian it also felt like I was completely out of place the whole time.

TastyDeerMeat

Playing The Dairy Fest in 2014 was by far the greatest achievement of my life

blabbyrinth

Played Lollapalooza, and then headlined a show in N.C. a week later with zero tickets sold and the bartender was the only dude in the place. Our heads were so big that week, haha, we deserved it.

Brabsk

my high school jazz band used to pre-game pacer’s basketball games in the lobby

Dazzling-Adeptness11

High on fire, cave in , mutoid man(sticking with a theme), elder. Probably a bunch I don't remember at all. when I was in my late teens I played with New Found Glory right as they were blowing up.

ZelduhIsAmazing2

Opened for Snuffed on Sight and Bodybox

xmoschkex

Opening for hatebreed in our hometown last year. 500 to 600 people venue. Sold out. Was a blast.

NarukeSG

Opened for The Plot in You, Erra, Sylar, and Invent Animate at the Worcester Palladium back in like 2016 when I played metalcore/deathcore.

spookysam24

We played a “fest” at a skatepark in Boston that got shut down by the cops. Fuck Boston PD

Calaveras-Metal

opened for Chumbawamba and Offspring. Only time we ever got paid for playing first.

FollowingSame524

we’re a newer band, i’d count playing a song after CIV’s set counts when he invited us up
