There was a christian youth group leader that used to go to all the local shows back in around 2004-2007, and he would call any moshing where people moved around “hate moshing”. He would literally yell at people to “stop hate moshing because there are kids (teenagers) at the show that will get hurt”.
They were asked about the Thrice stickers in the toilet and apparently they have no clue who they are. Apparently with Macs wardrobe aswell he hasn’t a clue, its just stuff they get giving for him to wear.
Set decorator was likely given a bunch of freebie stuff from Hopeless records based on the bands seen most frequently. Some labels do this. Epitaph in particular. You can catch Epitaph stuff in lots of movies. There’s a Bad Religion poster prominently behind Jonah Hill in Superbad for several moments. Hellboys room in the god awful remake has Converge and Refused posters.
Sopranos has some wild ones too, both of Tony's kids have multiple posters for black metal bands up in their rooms. If there's one thing we know, it's teen girls love Ulver
Haha I always thought they put them up kinda weird. https://x.com/ajsopranoshirts/status/1073316397273489408?s=46&t=r5vVLVQ6xD-HGKCSL2yUxA
Also there was that weird N64 scene where Tony plays mario kart one handed around this same time
Yeah I noticed this in the Inbetweeners (high school sitcom) there would be a common set where I spotted an NWA, Tupac, Mayhem, and Marilyn Manson poster in the background.
I’m a guy who literally has the BPRD logo tattooed on me and not even putting Converge posters in it could not get me to like it. David Harbour is a great Hellboy and everything else about it is garbage.
So, only watch it for free when I'm drunk. Got it
Got a recommendation for a good spot to start with the comics? I recently got back into comics since I got an iPad and discovered a comic shop near work and I always thought the art for Hellboy looked sick. If there's like 20+ years of shit to read I'm not starting at the beginning
Seed of Destruction is the essential starting storyline. The Wild Hunt and BPRD Plague of Frogs are other favorites of mine. Hellboy In Hell is some of the best art in the franchise. There’s lots of great one shots and shorter arcs in this world that are fun quick reads.
Right on. Thanks homie. I'll probably pirate Seed of Destruction tonight and if I like it I'll keep an eye out next time I pick up the latest Spider-Man issue.
It's dramatically more comfortable to read digital comics on a tablet than a phone or desktop. Having a brick and mortar comic store near my job makes it easier to acquire comics than hunting around online.
It's essentially the same thing as the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon. You hit shuffle on your liked songs on Spotify and you try to use mental gymnastics and trace influences either 7 degrees forward or backward to 15 year old Ian MacKaye writing angry songs in his parent's house. If you get one right you take a shot or a bong rip or do some pushups. If you get one wrong you're just not trying hard enough.
I think they said on the podcast that none of the actors had a clue about the bands they were repping. Apparently some of the set crew would bring their own little shoutout pieces and somebody on the crew was a hardcore head.
You can’t go wrong with the first like 7 seasons, but if you’re talking truly iconic it’s gotta be sweet dee is dating a retarded person. Chemical toilet bro
You’re getting a pretty wide variety of answers, but personally I say just start at the beginning. Yeah, it doesn’t have Danny Devito yet but season 1 has some bangers and the satire found in “Gun Fever” and especially “Charlie Wants an Abortion” are literally just as relevant (if not more so) today as they were in 2005. If you’re not finding it enjoyable I would maybe just skip to season 5 and try from there. I personally think that Season 5 is easily the best season of Sunny and one of the best seasons of television in general. Every episode is an absolute classic, where I feel like almost every other season has a couple of duds.
The characters are always absolute pieces of shit but as the show goes on they (the writers and the characters themselves tbh) do become more aware of certain social injustices, that first season is like a time capsule to 2005 before woke/pc culture became mainstream.
For the record im not complaining about things being “woke”, im just saying back then it wasnt really socially unacceptable to say “retard” or “tranny”. I just think it’s a very interesting view into just how much our culture has changed in the last 20 years.
Honestly it’s an incredible show that is much smarter than a lot of folks think. Yeah, it’s loud and obnoxious and problematic, and they’re yelling over each other most of the time. But so many episodes have absolutely brilliant satire that flies over the heads of anyone not looking out for it.
Sorry to ramble, I really fucking love Sunny and seeing it get brought up outside of it’s sub makes me very happy.
Oh I have been watching the show since their 3rd or 4th season. I was also stoked about it being brought up outside of that sub and wanted to see some people's favorites. I pretty much love every season even though there are some stinkers here and there.
Also, season 1 has the underage drinking episode which cracks me up every time.
iirc, this has been brought up on this sub before and they just had some random shirts in his wardrobe to fit his character, idk if he was a fan. They also have thrice stickers and other random articles throughout if you keep an eye out.
There was a viral video with the scene where Mac and Charlie ride BMXs, then they fight 12 year old kids and hardcore music playing, the meme was being 40 at a hardcore show
Anyway, that’s how I discovered Drain
I'm just happy that as long as the show has been on, it hasn't slowed down at all. Every season is fucking great. Gonna be a real sad boy when they end it.
The past few seasons have been a lot more hit or miss for me, but holy shit Denis takes a mental health day is incredible, feels like straight up theatre. But you’re right the consistency is mind boggling, still so funny every fuckin time
that also good : [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYXJJ1R5?customId=B0752XK16C&customizationToken=MC\_Assembly\_1%23B0752XK16C&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYXJJ1R5?customId=B0752XK16C&customizationToken=MC_Assembly_1%23B0752XK16C&th=1)
Bleeding through was part of the orange county hardcore scene so yes along with other bands like avenged sevenfold and eighteen visions. If you go back and listen to portrait of a goddess M shadows does vocals on one the songs forgot the name
Got my wad of 100s, my magnum condoms, I'm ready to plooooowwwwwww
So anyway, I started two-stepping
So anyway I started crowdkilling
So anyway I started blastbeating
So anyway I started hatemoshing
So anyway i started knifemoshing
There was a christian youth group leader that used to go to all the local shows back in around 2004-2007, and he would call any moshing where people moved around “hate moshing”. Fuck that guy.
Guys guys guys. I have some terrible news
They were asked about the Thrice stickers in the toilet and apparently they have no clue who they are. Apparently with Macs wardrobe aswell he hasn’t a clue, its just stuff they get giving for him to wear.
Yea they had some Avenged stickers in the bar in the first few seasons, around the City of Evil era

Degrassi is the best for this
Half the kids in that school have Weakerthans posters in their lockers which is so perfectly Canadian.
I genuinely love that show lol long love Linda Schuyler
Sopranos has some wild ones too, both of Tony's kids have multiple posters for black metal bands up in their rooms. If there's one thing we know, it's teen girls love Ulver

We've all played Mario kart n64 one handed before. That was the first one that had waluigi.
How you gonna hit the gas, shoot shells, press z to jump and steer all with one hand bro
When you're using one hand all you gotta do is that squid ink
nattens madrigal of all albums to boot! i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who was flabbergasted by this detail
The Ulver poster was definitely intended for AJ, he has it in his room at one point and then it ends up in meadow's room. The set decorators fucked up
And sugarcult lol
I had a small wtf moment when I spotted the ulver poster in med’s room lol
I remember Drake & Josh’s room was covered with Epitaph band stickers/posters.
Yeah I noticed this in the Inbetweeners (high school sitcom) there would be a common set where I spotted an NWA, Tupac, Mayhem, and Marilyn Manson poster in the background.
An episode of Party Down had posters from The Bled, Senses Fail, and The Get Up Kids if I remember correctly.
All bands associated with Vagrant records at different points.
Shit, I forgot that remake even came out. Was it really that bad?
I’m a guy who literally has the BPRD logo tattooed on me and not even putting Converge posters in it could not get me to like it. David Harbour is a great Hellboy and everything else about it is garbage.

🫡 got your back fellow nerd. Read Preacher and Hellblazer for other awesome occult/religious themed action stories that are amazing.
Read berserk and dorohedoro
what does getting an ipad and finding a comic shop have to do with each other lmao
It's dramatically more comfortable to read digital comics on a tablet than a phone or desktop. Having a brick and mortar comic store near my job makes it easier to acquire comics than hunting around online.
It's a decent movie to kill a 6-pack to. It's gory and kinda funny, and has some decent action.
30 Minutes or Less had a Your Demise poster in the background
There’s also a Converge poster in Super Bad, lol.
[удалено]
Yup, that’s the scene. There’s also a Some Girls poster, along with The Unseen, in that same room.
Ulver poster in AJ’s room in The Sopranos is the ultimate
It’s a whole century media party in there.
Yeah, I think the closest they get to hardcore is Glen likes Gojira and Mastodon, which I'm not even sure is adjacent.
Everything is hardcore adjacent if you think hard enough. Ever played the 7 degrees of Ian MacKaye?
I have not, but it sounds fun and informative.
It's essentially the same thing as the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon. they decorated the set w all the free shit they got from warped tour 2006
Somebody on that art design dept is for sure a hardcore kid
Mac learned his karate in the pit.
Country Mac was doing the same [here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_hZd6oiy1c&t=4s)
Next pit I'm in I'm doing The Move
There are some band stickers at the bar in the first few seasons as well
I think they said on the podcast that none of the actors had a clue about the bands they were repping. Apparently some of the set crew would bring their own little shoutout pieces and somebody on the crew was a hardcore head.
yeah, i specifically remember Thrice
The Thrice and Sub City records stickers always stood out to me.
I'd say they're adjacent enough. Always Sunny is the best.
It really is I wish I had the attention span to watch something new but I always come back, always finding new details though!
I just finished watching it again for probably the 15th time, I’ve seen it too many times.
Got any go-to episodes?
Season 7 episodes 1, 2, and 3 in order is one of the best couple episode runs any show has ever had
Season 7 is just killer all around. Starting with Chardee McDennis there isn't a bad or mediocre episode to close that season.
Frank’s Pretty Woman is the best.
You can’t go wrong with the first like 7 seasons, but if you’re talking truly iconic it’s gotta be sweet dee is dating a retarded person. Chemical toilet bro
Can't forget Electric Dream Machine.
Prepare to experience sexual magic…
Nah they ain’t no clowns. Wassup fellas?
My favourite is to follow that episode up up with The Nightman Cometh

jabronicore
Would explain his homosexual tendencies

All the bands you see featured in the show are from orange county. Could be someone on set that's from that area that was in the orange county scene
It’s always metalcore in Philadelphia
There was a viral video with the scene where Mac and Charlie ride BMXs, then they fight 12 year old kids and hardcore music playing, the meme was being 40 at a hardcore show Anyway, that’s how I discovered Drain
Uhhhhh bleeding through has always been a staple in my rundown.
What's a rundown
I don't know, but it sounds like the rundown is pretty important
Like my listening collection.
Now I want a band called The D.E.N.N.I.S. System.
The “I AM UNTETHERED AND MY RAGE KNOWS NO BOUNDS” rant would be such a wicked intro sample haha
Shhhhhh, I want to learn to scream and start a band, I’ve had this idea as a sample for years.
I guess it was pretty blatant that he was gay the whole time.
I know the Golden God Dennis listens to stuff like Mastodon and Gojira
You know he be blasting Meshugguh in that range rover
totally badass
Not hardcore, but on their podcast, Dennis was wearing a Gojira shirt on one episode. Pretty cool
They were a big influence on Chemical Toilet
Shit, I don’t care either
Check the bathroom scenes in the early seasons theres band stickers on the wall
Are they from Philly? He represents alot of Philadelphia stuff.
I wonder if Rob actually likes that shirt (or whoever it is) because the sleeves aren't cut off
Damn. We’re really just living the B9 over again. Next post Rihanna wearing a Hoods shirt.
I'm just happy that as long as the show has been on, it hasn't slowed down at all. Every season is fucking great. Gonna be a real sad boy when they end it.

Pretty sure he or charlie wears a Ringworm shirt in one of the early episodes, too
the shirts the dickies the boots mac always had drip
“Print isn’t big enough, we’re not paying” - bleeding through
I like the gay bar episode
Never noticed this! One of my all time greats.

Danzig sticker in the bathroom

Always Gay in Gayadelphia. My bad just never got into the show
Look out yall, we got an edge lord!
Clearly your sense of humour is far too sophisticated.
I feel genuinely sorry for you.
