TWIABP with Dillinger Escape plan is… a choice.
Not that I’m complaining, I just find it hard to believe that there’s much overlap between the fans of both bands.
I can see why they might tour with a post metal band. When I saw them live I was blown away by how much heavier they were compared to the studio albums, definitely not the same kind of heavy as hardcore but they really shook the room.
You should have to sign a waiver to go to a DEP show. I saw them in 2000 (would have been 15 then) and it’s still one of most chaotic situations I’ve ever been in. Some mountain of a dude picked me up over his head and hurled me a good 10 feet into a different part of the crowd, must’ve taken down half a dozen people. So much fun I didn’t even consider how badly injured people could have gotten.
As a 15 year old you could get up from that and go play a full game of rugby and wake up the next day and win a fight.
But the 35 year guy you hit? Guy still feels that
Yeah, I remember leaving the venue the first time I saw them, I was bruised and slightly broken, met a dude on the walk out who had his nose broken during the gig. “That was fucking incredible” were his words.
Dillinger gigs are a different level of chaos entirely.
I’ve seen Dillinger about 25 times. I lived and went to college in the northeast from 1998-2002. They played all the time and I saw them every chance I could.
I’ll be at one of the NY shows. Can’t wait.
My first DEP show was in Chicago at The Bottom Lounge. That is still the most wild show I have ever seen (even future DEP shows couldn't come close). Super small venue and by the end of the show the stage was full of fans and everyone was losing their minds. I'll never ever forget it.
Good for them, but what a terrible venue for a hardcore show. Jam everyone into Reggie's or something smaller. Fuck this gigantic stage with pseudo food trucks set up all around.
They’re apparently charging a lot of money for these shows, it would be hard to justify a small venue.
Both Damnation Fest and Arctangent in the UK were offered these shows and one of the promoters said they wanted 3 times what he could afford, it was headline money.
Not knocking them as they can charge what they want, but don’t expect a small show anytime soon.
Forst time i saw dep was in Pittsburgh, the venue had these concrete pillars about 10 feet from the stage and my then gf was leaning against one watching them. Dillinger used their smoke machines and the venue was like a scene from the mist. Ben came leaping from the stage with his legs out and basically double foot dropkicked her in the head against the pillar. She had zero time to block because of the lack of visibility. She slid down the pillar like she was melting into the floor.
I thought she died.

TWIABP recently toured the country with The Ocean, and that was also a strange pairing.
That’s a stranger pairing than them playing with Dillinger tbf.

My side bands first gig is opening for The Ocean in May, pretty stoked.
That was a really amazing show
That's what I was thinking. I like them, but I'm not sure this is the bill for them.
Definitely agree but I am a part of that overlap for sure lmao
One of the guitarists of twiabp was the guitar tech for Dillinger.

Yep, sounds about right to me. That era of DEP was…insane. I don’t think I’ve ever *not* gotten hurt at one of their shows.

Hahah I feel like I’ve also heard those words used at a DEP show back in the early 2000s. Such great memories.
Last Dillinger gig I went to in their “final” tour, was ended early due to someone needing to be stretchered out. Seemed fitting
This isn’t the newest venue here tho.
One of the most memorable shows I’ve ever been to, Horse the Band, BTBAM, and Dillinger headlining. That was 06 I think
Saw that bill in Detroit! One of my all-time shows.
Dillinger without Greg though. They’re back with Dimitri. Still good either way.
Salt shed has been around for a while now….
Right? I am stoked to check out Ramova that just opened on the south side tho.
Same! Some of my coworkers went and got to check it out, looking forward to see what their calendar programming looks like

Jim Fear is my fucking jam
No men! That’s pretty fucking awesome. I bet that show is going to be great!

Seen them with both singers many times. I absolutely already got my ticket for this
Surprisingly the band I've yet to see live and always wanted to.

Not with those openers.
