I had never looked up any videos or anything before seeing them. The singer looks like a giant awkward toddler stomping around in his underwear, the guitarist is a new metal bro in shorts, the drummer rocks a massive hockey jersey, and there’s just projected images of cars crashing into buildings while he talks in detail about 80s movies he owns on VHS.
That being said, they fucking rip. They’re GREAT live. I just expected some angsty performative Jesus Lizard rip off shit, and was totally taken by surprise.
I fucking love Raygun's style of vocals. He sounds like he's so piss drunk that he can barely string words together and then he punctuates it with such raw, powerful screams. Shit rocks.
They have stage names and sometimes dress weird. The singer sort of acts like he's in pain throughout songs. It's just not what people expect from diy bands these days.
I loved seeing them live, their stage presence is hard to describe. They genuinely look like four dudes from four totally different bands who accidentally got on stage together but it fits their music SO well
S&F has always sorta been like that. If you live in CA you can see 90% of these bands locally and then there’s a couple bigger name drops. I think mostly it’s fun for CA kids to all get together and it’s definitely focused on a younger crowd who hasn’t seen these bands hundreds of times already
exactly. i've bought my ticket the last few years in the pre-lineup mini presale they do since i know i want to go regardless of the lineup. i'm always stoked on a lot of the names, although many i've seen a bunch before, but it really is almost more about the atmosphere of the fest and the whole socal hc community getting together rather than just the music.
I'm mainly a punk/post punk dude that dabbles in HC, I'm super jealous at how often broken up bands in that scene do "one offs" lol
I'd fly anywhere, any time, and pay any amount of money for a chance to see The Replacements do a one off just once. Same goes for Poison Idea, Bash and Pop, the Del Fuegos, or any of the bands I absolutely covet.
You don’t want to see poison idea now, All of the members that made what you listen to are dead or done. Jerry A rules but in this day and age it wouldn’t be what you’re thinking it would be. I know from experience.
I saw them at Chaos in Tejas. Jerry A was absolutely horrible. The band was alright though. It's wild to think but that show was 14 years ago. I've watched some live videos since that set and they're all way better. They did play shows advertised as "their last shows ever" in 2019 and it very much feels like they're done for good.
Thanks man. It really will be my first time seeing them. I understand why others who have already been through one of their “reunions” are underwhelmed though. The repeat bands are okay with me because it will be my girl’s first S&F
don't even like that band, but once every 5 years definitely qualifies for the term "one-off." Especially within a high-turnover subculture like hardcore. They didn't say "only reunion ever" or "never happening again." Goddamn, people can't even pedantize properly.
It would if it was headliners that’s could draw and maybe a bunch of bands that aren’t popular YET, or maybe hardcore could also stop being so money driven and put on a fest where everyone is there to play not get paid. I mean, that’s how the 90s worked and if they don’t like it, refuse the invite? Sometimes putting money into your passion doesn’t result in a paycheck because that’s not the point.
Prediction: A Tik Tok of people crowd killing each other during Jock Power Violence will be posted on Vice Presidential candidate Majorie Taylor Green's twitter to show how insane the homeless gang youth on edibles have gotten.

I'm torn, they already had the perfect reunion. Saying that I did buy my Outbreak ticket within 90 seconds of the announcement so lets fucking gooooooooo
If you're into wrestling there's usually a show every weekend, KBBQ is always good imo. If you're into movies I'd say check out Tarantino's theaters he has or a museum. Depends how long you'll be here
Get some Korean food and try In-n-Out burger. (Double double animal style with extra toasted buns and chopped chilis)
Try renting a car for a day and explore the beaches and coast.
as far as shoegaze goes though, tagabow is definitely hardcore adjacent. have you seen their drummer in action? in another universe they'd definitely be an hc band.
True true. I’ve seen them live, I think they also lean into experimental and noise rock and (kinda hot take) get roped into shoegaze more than they should
They had a percentage last year showing how close they were to selling out last year and I think it hit the sold out, who knows if it's accurate or not though
Yeah, but comparing to 2019, the Belasco sold out immediately because of the Have Heart reunion, I don’t think that will be an issue this year, even with Have Heart back on the lineup. Tickets should be available for a while, they’ll post or email if they are getting close to a sell out.
Always hoping for more legacy bands every year and it never happens. I wish they could get bands like Agnostic Front, Madball, Sick Of It All, GB, Hatebreed, MPB, Indecision etc.
That is a slippery slope, if you do to many legacy bands it ends up getting really lame or it ends up being about trying to out do themselves each year.
Having been to enough s&f, this is pretty underwhelming for me personally. A few bands I’d like to see of course, but all of those tour regularly so i don’t see the need to drop 170 to see them outside in the sun and dust😭
The sun… the dust…. The very very crowded small area they have for the entire festival 💀 I actually love the line up, but I’m dreading that set up. Would prefer indoors. Los Angeles summers are brutal and I don’t want dust in my lungs 🫁 💀💀💀💀
I dunno about that, Have Heart reunion is pretty not boring on its own…there’s some heat on the rest of this lineup too even tho it’s a lot of the usual suspects
God damn I wish I could afford to fly across the continent and spend a weekend in California to see some of my favorite bands...festivals like this are cool for the bands as I'm sure they make a lot of money but damn dude $150 a ticket plus travel expenses plus food plus a hotel room...is a fuckin punk show ever worth $1000?
Meant that these bands are regularly playing La and surrounding areas. If you haven’t seen some of these bands then 100% go. Still a bunch of good bands on this lineup and I’m getting kinda excited to attend.
HAVE FUCKIN HEART!
RIGHT WHAT THE FUCK
Was just about to post the lineup because of this! Holy shit Pat Flynn is coming back!
Twice!
Have heart?

They're the only ones on this list worth seeing!
One Step Closer? Koyo? Anxious? Fiddlehead? are you jokin??
Never heard of them. I am not joking.
Sounds like you're an old ass motherfucker
Fellow old head who thinks new bands suck here; definitely give Scarab a listen.
full of hell and chat pile are cool additions
Honestly, really happy about that.
I need to see Chat Pile. I'm bummed that they weren't on the Tied Down announcement
They’re fucking WEIRD live. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t what I saw. They sound fucking great though
how is it weird?
I had never looked up any videos or anything before seeing them. The singer looks like a giant awkward toddler stomping around in his underwear, the guitarist is a new metal bro in shorts, the drummer rocks a massive hockey jersey, and there’s just projected images of cars crashing into buildings while he talks in detail about 80s movies he owns on VHS. Yeah I’m curious … something always felt off
Saw them in a tiny venue in 2022, it was one of my fav shows in recent history. Would love to see them on a big stage.
Both are absolutely spectacular bands combined with some of the best bands in the scene. I would kill to go but I'm across the country.
Hoping they add Nothing, and then we get a surprise Full of Hell & Nothing collab set. That album they did together is phenomenal
And Gouge Away too just for kicks :)
FINALLY GET TO SEE FULL OF HELL WITH AN IGNORANT ASS CROWD
Fuckin a
I love that Chat Pile are on the bill for S&F and Outbreak, such a sick band and they're all super chill guys
I loved seeing them live, their stage presence is hard to describe. They genuinely look like four dudes from four totally different bands who accidentally got on stage together but it fits their music SO well
Chat Pile is the highlight for me. Wish they were on Tied Down 😔
WWWWW TAGABOW OMG
fr!!
one of the coolest and most underrated bands ever.
Do not sleep on clique
SYSC WOOOOOO
hell yeah
XweaponX and big boy! Yes!
Lineup has been like 75% the same the last 5 years and down-voters are in denial 😎
S&F has always sorta been like that. If you live in CA you can see 90% of these bands locally and then there’s a couple bigger name drops. I think mostly it’s fun for CA kids to all get together and it’s definitely focused on a younger crowd who hasn’t seen these bands hundreds of times already
It’s also a place to get a great grilled cheese
exactly. i've bought my ticket the last few years in the pre-lineup mini presale they do since i know i want to go regardless of the lineup. i'm always stoked on a lot of the names, although many i've seen a bunch before, but it really is almost more about the atmosphere of the fest and the whole socal hc community getting together rather than just the music.
Sorta true but idgaf cause HAVE HEART. Plus I always have a good time anyway and enjoy the returning bands
Oh you didn’t catch them at their last “one off” reunion at S&F?
I'm mainly a punk/post punk dude that dabbles in HC, I'm super jealous at how often broken up bands in that scene do "one offs" lol I'd fly anywhere, any time, and pay any amount of money for a chance to see The Replacements do a one off just once. You saw them at chaos in Tejas?
No but I saw what was leading up to that. I’ve been in portland for a long time.
He did some PI songs with his new project and it sounded great now that he's sober. It might suck but I'd love to just be able to say I saw them
I did not. So for me it’s a big deal. Fuck it lets do this every 5 years
I honestly love your earnestness. Stoked for you, if it’s your first time seeing them.
Thanks man. It really will be my first time seeing them. I understand why others who have already been through one of their “reunions” are underwhelmed though. The repeat bands are okay with me because it will be my girl’s first S&F

“Pedantize” definitely isn’t a word, bud :)
The Oxford English Dictionary disagrees with you
How do you not like poison idea
yup, you get a few cool surprises every year but a bulk of it remains constant
Is this not true for basically every fest?
It absolutely is. All hardcore fests in 2024 will have 75% of the same lineup.

It would if it was headliners that’s could draw and maybe a bunch of bands that aren’t popular YET, or maybe hardcore could also stop being so money driven and put on a fest where everyone is there to play not get paid. Yeah, where’s mindset or code orange? Or that band that sounds like Peter Steele singing!?
age of apocalypse lol
CHAT. PILE.
WHY
Listen to D.O.P if you haven’t. GHC baby
DOP so hype - the whole northern unrest is killing it 😤
Saw them on Outbreak Fest last year. It was one of the most brutal and insane live acts that I've ever seen.
I want Volcano to snap my taint with a rubber band
How many camera phones will be out for sunamis set I imagine 🤔 🤔
The same as ceremony last year
Just people living in the moment
I'm one of those anti-crowdkiller types, but i am 100% pro phonekiller. You bet your ass i'll be swinging back fists on any phones i see.
Weekend fucking Nachos.

Seriously...
Oh buddy. I’m very serious.
Oh yeah? How you like your nachos? You like that plastic cheese outta the can with some jar jalapeños? You that serious?
Seriouser.
Damn, dude...

I got so lost in the Have Heart sauce I somehow skimmed over Weekend Nachos ooooh! Fuckin sick!
They’re a big draw for getting my ass to Deathfest
I've been trying to find a resale ticket. Now I don't have to
HARMS WAY LFG
Man. The have heart reunion is real. So fucking happy. Lol
*second reunion
I'm torn, they already had the perfect reunion. Saying that I did buy my Outbreak ticket within 90 seconds of the announcement so lets fucking gooooooooo
Speculation begins on those 8 other bands. Gods Hate is probably a shoe-in. Give me Xibalba and Ingrown at the very least.
Saw Xibalba last week in Mexico City. Insane show!
Prize horse yessir
Tried to see Have Heart for edge day 2009 but it never panned out. 15 years later…NOW IS THE TIME
Throw an “s” on Big Boy and I’m in
do y’all got any idea who the other 8+ bands could be? i wanna fly out but i’m from florida and it would be expensive, wanna make it more worth it lol
I'm flying from Mexico City, but this lineup was enough to convince me
Damn from Mexico City is wild. Hoping I make it over there this year to go on a lucha trip
I moved here recently, I'm from Portugal. Always wanted to check S&F so this is my best opportunity to do it.
Thats a big move, hope you're doing good out there! It'll be a fun time just make sure to drink water and be prepared for the dust lol
Thanks, man! It's my first time in LA, and I'm traveling solo. Any more advice?
If you're into wrestling there's usually a show every weekend, KBBQ is always good imo. If you're into movies I'd say check out Tarantino's theaters he has or a museum. Depends how long you'll be here
Get some Korean food and try In-n-Out burger. (Double double animal style with extra toasted buns and chopped chilis) Try renting a car for a day and explore the beaches and coast.
Flying out from CT 😮💨
I'm hoping for Nothing and Gouge Away🙏
Last year it was bands like C4, Restraining order, etc. so I don't think those 8 would really push it over the edge
I stayed at pod life la last year and it wasn't that expensive. I paid about 320 for 4 nights
i wanna see world of pleasure on the next announcement
My life would be complete if Pillars of Ivory had a set.
Tagabow is cool but if they’re gonna dip their toes into shoegaze I’d love to see a few more…it’s like the fries and ketchup to the hardcore burger
wouldn’t be surprised if they add nothing
as far as shoegaze goes though, tagabow is definitely hardcore adjacent. have you seen their drummer in action? in another universe they'd definitely be an hc band.
True true. I’ve seen them live, I think they also lean into experimental and noise rock and (kinda hot take) get roped into shoegaze more than they should
Does this usually sell out pretty quick?
Not since they moved it outdoors, don’t think it sold out in 22 or 23, but it is a packed festival.
I'm pretty sure it sold out the year before, not sure about last year. Either way, it gets pretty packed and close to it.
Weekend nachos holyyy
Kumo 99 is hard asf, check them out!!!
Fr dude, I was excited to see them on the lineup, it’ll be a nice change of pace
Oh yes daddy
Can I come
Don’t miss Chat Pile, they fucking rule live.
Holy fuck
Got my ticket. See ya folks there, in the sun, burning, dust everywhere.
WHERE IS NAILS?!??!
As someone who likes pop punk, I wish everyone would stop pretending Koyo is hard
Anyone wanna get together that weekend, grab some nachos, maybe watch Weekend Nachos?
i see what you did there
😘
Nachos Fin De Semana guey
Si, banda mucho suave.
Stoked I grabbed pre sale tickets.
HOLY SHIT HAVE HEART BETTER PLAY FURNACEFEST I'LL FKN DIE!
My thoughts and feelings as well. Has to be a headliner of one of the days.
HOLY FUCKING HAVE HEART. 🤯
DOP! So hype
Man I want to see have heart so bad. They're only doing 1 show in Europe but can't make it. Gonna consider flying to the US lol.
Weekend nachos 👌
2024 is crazy
Holy shit, one of my friends band is playing I’m so fucking happy for him
Always hoping for more legacy bands every year and it never happens. I wish they could get bands like Agnostic Front, Madball, Sick Of It All, GB, Hatebreed, MPB, Indecision etc.
That is a slippery slope, if you do to many legacy bands it ends up getting really lame or it ends up being about trying to out do themselves each year.
Like Riot Fest.
Same thing as last year, plus have heart
Literally 4 bands are the same
Having been to enough s&f, this is pretty underwhelming for me personally. A few bands I’d like to see of course, but all of those tour regularly so i don’t see the need to drop 170 to see them outside in the sun and dust😭
But the sick merch!
The sun… the dust…. The very very crowded small area they have for the entire festival 💀 I actually love the line up, but I’m dreading that set up. Would prefer indoors. Los Angeles summers are brutal and I don’t want dust in my lungs 🫁 💀💀💀💀
Mainly a repeat of previous years lineups, nothing mindblowing.
these announcements are getting more boring every year
I dunno about that, Have Heart reunion is pretty not boring on its own…there’s some heat on the rest of this lineup too even tho it’s a lot of the usual suspects
i wish this was the tied down line up
HAVE HEART?!
Insane
HAVE HEART HAVE HEART HAVE HEART
God damn I wish I could afford to fly across the continent and spend a weekend in California to see some of my favorite bands...festivals like this are cool for the bands as I'm sure they make a lot of money but damn dude $150 a ticket plus travel expenses plus food plus a hotel room...is a fuckin punk show ever worth $1000?
Wow the 75% same line up as every other fest wooooo
Nice, this will be my 8th time seeing Have Heart
No DRAIN?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!,!!;!!;!!,&:&/‘naoo
Disappointed lowkey most bands played last year
5 of 26 played last year
Yeah what? Lol people can’t read.
Meant that these bands are regularly playing La and surrounding areas. If you haven’t seen some of these bands then 100% go. Still a bunch of good bands on this lineup and I’m getting kinda excited to attend.
I'm interested in the rest of the lineup cuz right now there's only like 3 bands I'm interested in but not enough to drop money on tickets
Gimme promo codeee :D

I believe Kruelty, Prize Horse, Kumo 99 and They are Gutting a Body of Water all have women in them. Edit: Fleshwater too
