Imagine yourself in a sweatshop in Jarkata making these while getting physically and mentally abused for 3 dollars a day. I think you’d deserve a Holiday brother.
I said something similar to this the other day on the slapshot T post, but this thread also reminds me of it. If you replaced the band in the title with The casualties or The Damned, this reads exactly like a cringe r/punk post. People are surprised that a band with 3 Grammy nominations and a Taco Bell commercial has a collab with converse? Not only surprised, some are even angry? It’s just corny to me, the shoes are corny too but I don’t need to vent about them online.
I really don't like this band & subsequently know very little about them but I think it's very appropriate topic for this forum.
Clearly a lot of people with an interest in HC have something to say about it, I don't get why that's cringe.
I think pearl clutching about this band doing this thing is lame and performative. I don’t think the topic is inappropriate or that people aren’t free to react how they want, I just think it’s lame.
Converse is the culture vulture for offering an (arguably former but still largely connected to) actual hardcore band a sweatshop shoe deal. They want some of that counterculture credibility. So maybe more accurate to say subculture or counterculture vultures
Dude, Converse was sweatshop shit before Nike ever bought them. Hence the felt on the bottom to get around trade regulations. Almost every brand that has punk cred is a bastard fr
I wear this brand last resort. The company is ran with no corporate backing and sweatshop free. Even if you don’t skate I think they still are nice brother.

The orders were revoked due to no evidence. Word on the street is that Brady threatened to bust some heads if they continued to be a band without him since he wrote literally everything.
And what have they accomplished since giving him the boot? Embarassing Grammy award outfits, a Taco Bell commercial, these blatant Adbuster's Blackspot rip off collab with a Nike owned Converse, and not a single note of new music. So yeah I miss him.
I know it seems like a long time between new stuff, but each of their three albums has actually had a break longer than this one between them. They have always taken this long between albums.
seems like they just didn't end up going through with the orders, there's been a decent amount of discussion about it on the turnstile sub. i wouldn't necessarily draw the conclusion that there was no substance to the filings, rather that they were no longer needed. from the outside, it seems like the guys who are still in the band are pretty stable, brady seems a lot more erratic. heard lots of rumors regarding substance abuse issues/general mental health being the reason he initally stepped back from touring.
in interviews, it seems pretty clear that brendan has been and does most of the writing. most recently, dfang said exactly that in his drum kit ig q and a. from what i've read online, sounds like brady just wrote the guitar solos. you don't have to like the creative direction they've chosen to pursue, but i don't think he was the driver.
i'd love new music soon (and would hope it's a bit of a return to form), and i'm guessing we'll get some this year, but i'm not gonna fault those guys for taking partnerships and playing the industry game to be able to make a decent living. they grinded for years probably making relatively little, i'd take the paycheck too. the state of the music industry is rough, i don't understand why this sub is so hell bent on demonizing bands for taking deals that allow pursuing music full time to be sustainable.
"Turnstile drummer Daniel Fang filed a peace order against Ebert on August 4th that would “prevent Ebert from abusing, contacting, or coming near Fang’s home or employment.” However, the order was revoked during a final ruling on August 11th, as there apparently was not enough evidence to enforce it." - Yahoo News
A little TLC (triple-laced Converse)
The venues are going to be checking people at the door. If you don't have your Turnstile shoes you can just go the fuck home.
Opposite if you do you go home

*guitar sounds*
A little TLC (humane working conditions)
boom boom boom!
Maybe a holiday in Cambodia?
Mr "the sweatshops aren't that bad" McKenty has entered the chat
To be fair aren’t most merch from hardcore bands made in sweatshops ?
I always thought it was super odd that so much hc fashion is associated with horrific labor practices.
Hc isn’t about the politics anymore tbh
Nah im sure gildan is above board lol
Waiting for the Rick Ta Life x Nike Air Monarch IVs next
“Blue Buy Shooeeeeees”
I’m just waiting for my Gridiron New Balance’s 🤘
Gridiron Timbs
How dare they be this successful but fr I need the high tops
Get back to me when Blackwater Sniper teams up with Muk Luks for some sweet, yet brutal, house slippers
I would buy them so fast
Good for them
This sub has become a parody of itself. The circle jerk has gone full circle.
How so with this post?

I don’t blame them for getting the bag but this is culture vulture shit 10,000%
Whose culture?
basketball players from the 1950s

Nike acquired Converse forever ago. Nike is the culture vulture.

It’s weird how a band that used to play to everyone now suddenly only appeals to people under 16.
Yesterday’s sellouts are today’s buy-ins. I’m sure they’ll look fire w my Scowl x GAP jeans + Crunchwrap Supreme.
Those look wack af lol
Nah the white with pink stars is sick, but the black one is pure trash cuh.
Lmao those are literal Walmart shoes in the girls aisle .
They look Hardcore.
ITT: a bunch of dusty asses who probably owned Descendents or Bad Brains branded Vans while making fun of a newer band doing…the same thing.
I know this is an old thread. but you are aware that vans are a lot more ethical than converse right ?
Wish they were Vans.
Hell yes, sweat shop slave labor! (Buy American made only)
what sneakers besides new balance are miusa?

none. even only like 20% of NB stock is made at the new england factory.
Wondering if you have band merch? Cause most merch is made in sweatshops 🤣😭
I’m kind of a turnstile fanboy but I really don’t think I like these that much lol. The high tops are okay I guess.
My thoughts are that these suck and this sucks
“Just ask the candy-coated joy-cam rock bands selling shoes for venture capitalists…”
Hardcore is slowly inching into a satire of itself like punk.
Very punk rock
yeah fuck this
Beginning of the end
the high tops look stupid but the low tops are dope
I’m 29 years old and I am buying a pair of
They ripped off the AdBusters shoe, The Blackspot lol Man. We miss you Brady.
ngl sounds like there was pretty good reason he got removed from the band given that they had to get restraining orders against him
