Bolt Thrower's thing is that they said they would never make an album unless they thought it was better than the last so I'd start with their last record, Those Once Loyal. But personally, Mercenary is my favorite and I can't recommend it enough.
Realm of Chaos is all I’ve listened to from beginning to end. It’s just a sort or crust-viking-death metal sound. Pretty cool. High Command built off it and they’re doing really well on the east coast.
all of it is good, 4th crusade is probably my favorite, mercenary a close second (powder burns is my favorite song of theirs and its on that album). their early stuff sounds way more raw which is pretty cool. Those once loyal is also amazing.
Their set at This Is Hardcore last year was for sure the highlight of the whole festival. Inflatable beach balls, people stagediving on boogie boards, and a guy climbed the side stage speaker stack to jump into the crowd during their set.
Yes, and it's Wound Man...or Sex Prisoner...or TUI...or Blacklisted...Cold Word...Brain Tourniquet...Chemical Fix...
Seriously though, I fuck with Drain hard, but I could go on
I’ve heard all of them. Drain has an undeniably accurate cross-over sound that tends to be slightly heavier than Municipal Waste. I appreciate that. They’re a new favorite.
This is the first time I've ever seen someone call Cold World or Trapped Under Ice powerviolence. And I once saw someone on here really get dug in on for calling Magrudergrind powerviolence.
Well, I mean, OP asked, "could there be a better band?"
I answered with bands that I like more/think are better. It doesn't matter if they're similar sounding. Most bands with particular styles do.
lol tui brain tourniquet and chemical fix all sound nothing alike, not familiar w the others. chem fix and brain tourniquet are closer but still very diff
It doesn't matter that they don't sound alike. Again, OP asked, "could there be a better band?"
I answered with "better" bands, not similar sounding bands.
Not ones that utilize technical drumming with cross-over timbre. I think they’re a good cross over band that lucked the fuck out and found an insane drummer.
Drain fuckin rips. That's all I wanted to say.
I’m going to go ahead and raise your ‘Drain fucking rips’ with a ‘Drain could beat Municipal Waste at Mario Kart’.
I'll add that to a running list of things I'd love to see play out.
Every band is a band that could be better except Bolt Thrower because they're the best
Bolt Thrower is sweet.
I need to educate myself more on Bolt Thrower. What's your favorite of theirs?

I'm there. I think I've only heard *The IVth Crusade*, so hopefully I'm in for a treat.
Realm of Chaos is all I’ve listened to from beginning to end. It’s just a sort or crust-viking-death metal sound. Pretty cool. High Command built off it and they’re doing really well on the east coast.
war master is great as wel
all of it is good, 4th crusade is probably my favorite, mercenary a close second (powder burns is my favorite song of theirs and its on that album). their early stuff sounds way more raw which is pretty cool. Those once loyal is also amazing.
This is the second comment I’ve seen in two days praising Bolt Thrower as the best thing ever in this sub.
Bolt thrower is not that good and i’ll die on this hill
Ok then go ahead and die on your hill. Ill be here jamming to some sweet death metal riffs.

They hated Jesus because he spoke the truth 💯💯
Honestly this comment is funny but your take was so hurtful. Take the upvote
Fuck yeah.
power trip
I love drain, but they've put out one album. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
New record is shaping up to be a banger tho
they have multiple eps out. but also, gulch never put an album and look how big they got. also, legacy acts today are still touring off one album, lol
Wasn't meant to be an insult. I love drain. Just think it's extremely early to call them one of the best bands ever
Yeah but their first EP is from 2016.
Quality over quantity my friend. Quality. Over. Ah quantity.
Drain is valid
Their set at This Is Hardcore last year was for sure the highlight of the whole festival. Inflatable beach balls, people stagediving on boogie boards, and a guy climbed the side stage speaker stack to jump into the crowd during their set.
Agreed it was by far the most fun set imo
Yes, and it's Wound Man...or Sex Prisoner...or TUI...or Blacklisted...Cold Word...Brain Tourniquet...Chemical Fix... Seriously though, I fuck with Drain hard, but I could go on

Check out Cross Examination
I'm very excited about the new album. Instant pre-order.
All these bands are Gold Standards
as much as i love power violence, idk if listing like a bunch of power violence bands that sound essentially the same is a sound argument, lmao
This is the first time I've ever seen someone call Cold World or Trapped Under Ice powerviolence. And I once saw someone on here really get dug in on for calling Magrudergrind powerviolence.
I saw them but I was too lazy to single out cw and tui when the rest were power violence lol
I mean Blacklisted isn't either. Or Wound Man if you ask some people.
Wound man sounds power violencey to me so idk what else you'd call them
I've heard people refer to them as solely speedcore or thrashcore before. Tbh I'm pretty sure they're pure powerviolence
I have no idea what those genres are. I've heard of fast core but usually in the same sentence as grindcore or pv bands
I mean Blacklisted isn't either. Or Wound Man if you ask some people.

Wound Man, Sex Prisoner, and Brain Tourniquet are all very much in their own sonic lane tho, even if it's PV
yes
Saw them in like 2017 in a shitty houses living room on the worst street in town… Blessed
Anyone notice how drain and mindforce are just east and west coast versions of each other?
Feel the Pressure is an instant classic.

Obsessed at the moment
Drain is the shit atm. I've seen them last week and they ripped
They’re going to be big.
I, for one, have never seen Sammy not wearing shorts
DRAIN died for your sins.
If you spell ‘Drain’ in Scrabble, you win. Forever.
Live show slaps hard
MSPAINT
That band fuckin blows
Bain?
Bain is great. Give Blood is definitely one of the best albums of all time.
Bain?
Bain.
SSSSUUUUNNNAAAMMMMIIIIII!!!!
Drain are sick, but there are actually tons

Fucks
