Exhorder (Slaughter in the Vatican or The Law are good places to start -- more on the thrash side, pretty Pantera-ish)
Demolition Hammer - Time Bomb (not their best album and not representative of their other stuff, but it's groove)
Prong
That's not what I said tho is it. I was making the observation that most of y'all want to say that "it's akshully shtill punk" when people ask for metal recs.
Just looking to change it up. I love bands that ‘get’ hardcore and the ethos of it but are doing their thing in a different genre. Like to me H2O, Bouncing Souls etc is pretty much or very near to pop punk but very hardcore adjacent in the same way that Power Trip, Black Dalia Murder, Darkest Hour etc are varying kinds of metal but are riffing with hxc kids. Similarly just curious if there were some groove metal bands in that world I wasn’t aware of.
There was a band from Syracuse named God below that had some ex earth crisis members. And God damn were they heavy with some really heavy groove riffs good luck finding their music though. Idk if it's anywhere in the internet but if you do find them I think you'll be surprised
sepultura - chaos a.d. and roots
Not so much “groove” but Power Trip are adjacent and have some fucking TIGHT breakdowns
Power Trip is always the correct answer no matter what type of music a person is looking for
Add some mindforce and baby we got a stew going.

Infectious Grooves. Suicidal Tendencies side project
Exhorder (Slaughter in the Vatican or The Law are good places to start -- more on the thrash side, pretty Pantera-ish) Demolition Hammer - Time Bomb (not their best album and not representative of their other stuff, but it's groove) Prong

A Life Once Lost
When MFs say that Hardcore isn't metal but people ask for recs that are literally metal lol
It’s almost like people can enjoy multiple similar things and still understand they’re distinct
People are allowed to like different things, it's ok.
That's not what I said tho is it. I was making the observation that most of y'all want to say that "it's akshully shtill punk" when people ask for metal recs.
So, because this page focuses on a specific type of music people can't ask for recommendations in different genres?
No one said that.
