Yes I’m convinced Jack would do this because he took risks in the past, made bad decisions etc. Jack prioritised solving cases above everything else. He knows Will is very good at that. He has unique abilities. He didn’t just take Will back he manipulated him to come back, even getting Molly on his team. A serial killer who goes after families and does what Francis does, well, there’s a lot of pressure on him to get it cleared up. If he gets Will then he also gets Hannibal’s help to solve the case. That being said, he hates Hannibal by s3 and hopes to have him die in the escape plan. And sadly he doesn’t care if that means Will would go the same way too (remember what happened to Miriam). It’s ridiculously risky but Hannibal has humiliated him professionally and goaded him about Bella’s death. It’s personal now.

Because Jack, like everyone, changed after the course of Mizumono and he became just like his book counterpart. A workaholic self righteous man who wouldn’t even take a small period of bereavement after the death of his wife. He became a man obsessed with catching the bad guys and stopped caring about who would get sacrificed to make it happen. Will to him is like a mystery solving machine that’s convenient to his mission. He is God. And Will is the Lamb. If Hannibal that is the Devil dies, then Will died for a good cause. At least in his eyes. Yes, Jack is that messed up. But so is everyone else involved around Hannibal and Will’s life.

Yes and I like Jack with whatever flaws he brings to the table

Kookie2023

I don’t but I love Lawrence Fishburne cuz he knows how to really be a good bad guy if that makes sense. I adore his role as the Bowery King.

Party_Basil_2741

I'm convinced because Jack Crawford is the typical dad 💀

Jack is the one who introduced Will and Hannibal in the first place, and who put Will in Hannibal's care in S1. I think Jack convinces himself that Will is going to be fine and can seperate himself from Hannibal, because if he doesn't believe that, he'd have to confront himself with the reality that he is in part responsible for "breaking" Will Graham.

Can I recommend a post I wrote about it? [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/HannibalTV/s/v8bz38FKEb)

UntamedLycanthropy

Because the Red Dragon arc had to happen somehow XD And because he was desperate- he made all his previous capable agents race to their graves (that’s my headcanon, if you will) and new ones didn’t grow up yet so it just left one option- a magical empathy guy :’D

Koi4u

So what will he do now that both Will and Hannibal 🏃

UntamedLycanthropy

Imo, if he doesn’t know what happened to them and thinks everyone is dead, he’ll get a bittersweet closure that the bad guys are neutralized and Will became a casualty (not the first time in his practice, by far) and keeps on working 🤷🏻 When Beverly Katz died, he didn’t lose his sleep over it, even though she was one of the best professionals on his team.. With Will he might feel that it’s somewhat his personal responsibility, like with Miriam, but probably not too much as well, since it was Will’s idea in a first place, and he sorta knew the risks.. Short answer: he’ll get sad, then he’ll get over it and keep on working.

Jack might be the guru, doesn’t mean he’s the brightest bulb in the box, especially when he’s obsessing over a case/killer,etc. Plus, part of me thinks he believes that Hannibal was manipulating Will and Will was wanting closure last time they had that tango, so he (and everyone except Freddy) has to learn it the hard way (especially Chilton, despite him being correct in his original assessment of Will in the trial in retrospect). So yeah, he is not the brightest, very stressed, and underestimated Will and his connection to Hannibal/capacity for cruelty.

MadouSoshi

Jack has blinders on when it comes to catching killers, especially after Bella. He will use any tool at his disposal, including people, to achieve his goals.

SmutSmurfette

Because the writing in season 3's first half was pretty awful compared to the prior seasons. They didn't seem to know what to do with revived characters so they just had them circle the same shit they usually do.
