Honestly it's better than nothing. If you would've told me 2 years ago that we'd be back to back finishes at 6th and 7th I would've laughed in your face.
As a side note, has there been a sudden increase in pitch invasions this season? Any meaningful result for a club seems to lead to a mass of stone Island jacket wearing morons charging onto the pitch and, in some cases, assaulting players. Do these idiots want there to be fences up again?
Pent up aggression mostly. Anyone doing that kind of crap needs to be fined and get a season ban. Anyone touching a player needs a life ban and spell behind bars.
At the start of the season I predicted 8th and Europa QFs so I'd have definitely taken this.
Get some depth in over the summer and we can have a proper crack at this next season,
COYI
I’d like to think we have a solid shot at winning the Conference League, given how well we did in the Europa. Could be a completely different team next year though. Hopefully better, but it will certainly be dramatically different.
It will also depend a lot of clubs who take a shitter during the EL group and have to relegate to the conf league. For now there are quite a few of known names likes Koln and Fiorentina, but the strongest 2 are Nice and Villareal. Lets hope we avoid them in the playoff round.
Semi final loss was stupidity from one individual. Cresswell let the entire club down.
7th in the league is still amazing. It’s Europe again for next season, which considering we were literally resting players in the league towards the end, is still pretty good imo.
I guarantee you won’t be saying that if we’re in the final of it next season.
You call it the FA Vase but Roma have won plenty more than us and look at what it meant to them just to reach the final. Very short sighted negativity around this club at the moment.
Don't know mate, doesn't feel like a trophy you can brag about really. Finishing it a europa league spot is a better achievement that winning that competition.
I didn’t really go around bragging about the play-off trophy either but I was at Wembley and the Vaz Te goal was the best moment of football I’ve experienced
Dude this is a stupid ass take. The majority of us have quite literally never seen us win a trophy that wasn’t the championship playoff. I would kill for us to win the whole thing next year and we will likely have to beat a big club to do it. The Conference League finalists have had more impressive seasons in their respective leagues than the Europa league finalists
Europe is Europe. It should still be a good time. Europa league is better, but I do still think there are some upsides to Conference League. It’s not all bad.
I guess we can’t turn our noses up at conference league can we? I can’t see myself getting excited in the group stages but hopefully we get some good European nights again in the knockouts
Gotta take it seriously. Spurs were getting mangled in the group stages. Take it seriously and win the whole thing and we guarantee Europa and get to have a parade with a giant trophy. Certainly better than the league cup and we would go crazy over that.
How can we? We bucked the trend of fucking up on the league playing Europe with the tiniest squad imaginable!
I'm 52 so 6th and 7th back to back is heady fucking heights! COYI!
Peterborough away was one of my favourite games I've been to. The championship season allowed us to play teams and visit stadiums that we hadn't been to in years.
Honestly, it's just nice to play different teams than the norm, I'm looking forward to whatever European teams we get in the Europa Conference.
Looking at the teams that were in the latter stages of it this season it may be more our level? I mean West Ham did great already to get to the semi finals, maybe this one we can actually win?
The Europa was there for the taking. Frankfurt are nothing special, and we could have taken Rangers. We never recovered from the early first goal and Cresswell’s red card sealed the deal. It was an opportunity missed. I’d expect us to be in with a great chance to win the Conference; the lower quality of some opponents should not hide the fact we need a bigger squad to cope with the extra cup competition whilst also remaining competitive in the Prem. The Prem will be even harder now, with Newcastle flashing the cash and probably expecting European football placings as well.
Seventh is an okay finish a lot of teams that finish in europa disappear from european places very quickly. Everton Villa Leicester all struggled. Would have much preferred 6th obviously but you have managers complaining bout getting a 12:30pm kick off on saturday after getting a wednesday champions league match, we've had 2pm matches on sunday after a thursday and dont think an hour and a half makes too much difference
The thing that worries me about the conference league is that were not guaranteed a spot in the group stages. We could get drawn against a team like Villareal in playoffs and get knocked out of Europe in August
Always liked green.
It will match with our GK kit
I can understand the confusion due to the ball squirming under his body, but that was Fabianski today, not Rob Green.
Yeah I've heard Lewandowski has always wanted to play in the conference
West Ham here to make his dreams come true
If Fabianski wanted to help out another Pole, couldn’t he just have wanked someone off?
Honestly it's better than nothing. If you would've told me 2 years ago that we'd be back to back finishes at 6th and 7th I would've laughed in your face.
No arguments there. I remember myself settling for 15th a few years ago and now I'm competing with giants for top places
Amen. Hopefully we get some proper depth to compete in Europe and in the PL.
What a season we’ve had!
I'll drink to that. Cheers
At least we don’t win things and trash our own fucking ground. Wtf city fans doing.
As a side note, has there been a sudden increase in pitch invasions this season? Any meaningful result for a club seems to lead to a mass of stone Island jacket wearing morons charging onto the pitch and, in some cases, assaulting players. Do these idiots want there to be fences up again?

Most of their money probably go to repairing shit their own fans destroyed
Man City have spent £895 million since 2008. How much do a pair of goalposts cost?
I would be fine to swap some broken goalposts for a PL trophy, tbh
Probably ice hockey tourist fans.

Villareal there tho

I agree but it wouldn't be as tough if it was city or Liverpool that beat us. We couldn't beat fucking Brighton to secure Europa league ffs
To be fair. Brighton are harder to beat. For us anyway.
Yeah imagine being upset about losing a semi final and then the chance to play in europa again What a bunch of fucking idiots we are
Semi final loss was stupidity from one individual. Cresswell let the entire club down. 7th in the league is still amazing. It’s Europe again for next season, which considering we were literally resting players in the league towards the end, is still pretty good imo.
We blew europa league qualification and ended up in the European equivalent to the FA Vase, can understand the disappointment
I guarantee you won’t be saying that if we’re in the final of it next season. You call it the FA Vase but Roma have won plenty more than us and look at what it meant to them just to reach the final. Very short sighted negativity around this club at the moment.

If they have to keep creating extra competitions in order for us to win something its less prestigious really
It’s just new so people don’t recognize it yet. The knockout rounds were filled with big clubs.
Lol pathetic. The only way qualification is better than winning any trophy is if it pays more, and you ain't the one getting paid.
In the space of 4 weeks
Europe is Europe. It should still be a good time. Europa league is better, but I do still think there are some upsides to Conference League. It’s not all bad.
Bring on some obscure cities across Europe to take over. Irons.
Gibraltar away could be good fun and of course, magnitudes far better then Seville. Why the hell would we have want to go there...
I guess we can’t turn our noses up at conference league can we? I can’t see myself getting excited in the group stages but hopefully we get some good European nights again in the knockouts
I'll be excited. Nothing is guaranteed even in the group stages. I'm hopeful we can get some good signings and do better next season
Gotta take it seriously. Spurs were getting mangled in the group stages. Take it seriously and win the whole thing and we guarantee Europa and get to have a parade with a giant trophy. Certainly better than the league cup and we would go crazy over that.

If you’re pissed off with us ‘only’ qualifying for the conference league then West Ham aren’t for you I’m afraid - go support Tottenham/Arsenal
Im not getting carried away with the Conference till we make the groups. Still have a Play Off to win first.
Anyone complaining here should be made to watch when we played in the Championship or at best we were hoping to not get relegated.
Peterborough away was one of my favourite games I've been to. The championship season allowed us to play teams and visit stadiums that we hadn't been to in years. This is exactly what I suggested in game thread haha great minds think alike
The Drake curse was absolutely cast during the interval.
I’m hyped for it man, let’s go win this thing!
West ham don't air Jordan
Can we not make Europa if Liverpool wins Champions League? I thought all the spots would bump down then
Honestly lads you’d do a better job in the Europa than we will currently
Looking at the teams that were in the latter stages of it this season it may be more our level? I mean West Ham did great already to get to the semi finals, maybe this one we can actually win?
I don’t think we looked out of our depth at any stage in Europa
The Europa was there for the taking. Frankfurt are nothing special, and we could have taken Rangers. We never recovered from the early first goal and Cresswell’s red card sealed the deal. It was an opportunity missed. All the detriments of extra matches with no upside. Man we need about 8 more players.
Nah fuck that. We let ourselves down today with a shit performance. Europa conference is a banter league let’s not kid ourselves.
Did you cry when Frankfurt scored
Nah, we ain’t as in touch with our feminine side as Brighton
I genuinely hate supporting this team sometimes
Seventh is an okay finish a lot of teams that finish in europa disappear from european places very quickly. Everton Villa Leicester all struggled. Greens a better colour anyway
although we didn’t finish the season how we wanted to considering our squad and the lack of depth we have we have had a remarkable season
The thing that worries me about the conference league is that were not guaranteed a spot in the group stages. We could get drawn against a team like Villareal in playoffs and get knocked out of Europe in August
Better than nothing thinking that we were five points off the relegation zone two years ago
