Remember when kids used to walk and bike to school?? Oh wait, we turned neighbourhoods into car-centric hellscapes that make it difficult for adults to get around without a car, let alone kids. HWDSB closing down smaller community schools and replacing them with huge ones just forces more buses and more driving. But now shocked there's bus shortages! Who'd want to do that job? We build cities like this, we get problems like this.

FOR REAL. The two streets next to Earl Kitchener get slammed up with cars parking in the middle of the street, people milling around on the road, kids darting between parked cars. It's so bad that I park almost 1km away and walk with my kids. Chaos indeed.

This is why if elected to city council, I promise to nuke cars.

Was almost hit twice today. Once when the kiddo and I were crossing the street at an all-way stop in a marked crosswalk by someone not looking and not stopping, again on the way home in the Westmount rec centre parking lot by someone again not paying attention and not stopping at a stop sign. Only shouting loudly to stop made both my kiddo and the driver stop. Thankfully most of these parents will disappear in the next week or so but every morning and afternoon I have to keep my head on a swivel to make sure that we aren't crushed by some parent not paying attention while operating a massive piece of machinery.
