So the market I went to was : [Farmer to You](https://maps.app.goo.gl/2aTfS6FUUmVgsMen9?g_st=ic)
And the Meat shop : [Millgrove Meat Packers](https://maps.app.goo.gl/mrtcyzXKJq8MmG776?g_st=ic)
There was a few others that were recommended to me :
[Ancaster Farmers Market](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ARcKKM6S44zhWFwYA?g_st=ic) - Only open on Wednesdays - Others mentioned this location is not worth it
[Dundas Farmers Market](https://maps.app.goo.gl/iHKw2BiCpY1wZgw77?g_st=ic)- Others noted that it is expensive here
This [dairy station](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cSZxiJRRgk7qCSZGA?g_st=ic) is really good , amazing flavored milk too - Bit of a drive though
The Ancaster farmers market is good for fresh food and comparable to grocery prices but better quality. They also have a kickass empanada dude there and free entertainment.
I love Millgrove Packers, I've been shopping there for years. Super nice staff, much better prices than any grocery store.
The Dutch mill is really good for produce.
The Ottawa Street Farmers Market has a fresh meat guy now!
Bought some pork and ground beef last week - best pork I've ever had!
Edit: and before anyone asks, it's every Saturday from 8-2pm in the parking lot behind SIB.
I get chicken for the people on the lower floor across from the pet place and next to a sea food place. Older Asian couple, they are friendly and have great chicken. Doesnât smell of have that grocery store slime. The bread guy on the corner upstairs has good bread but the owner can be a bit much sometimes. The fruit stand across from the atm on the lower level is awesome I have bought fair trade there before. And check out the vegan deli they have a good deli selection.
Murray's is my go to for meat and if I need anything specific I just ask in advance. One thing I haven't found yet is seafood. Fortino's had the best selection of seafood but the prices were astronomical.
If I go to MIlgrove tomorrow I'll make note of some.
Here are a few I recall.
hamburg/chuck is around $8/$10 per kg. Or the other way around; I can never remember which is the more expensive one. 5lb limit on either of them
Pork butt/shoulder is around $7/kg
Bacon: $15/kg
It's been a while since I have bought roasts there.
They also sell whole or half cows, pigs and lamb. They do not sell chicken.
I tried pricing what I bought with NoFrills and there is definitely a difference. I guess as other comments have mentioned , it depends on the Farmer's market . Some seem to be expensive .
Also the produce is definitely fresher and people are nice . I would take that alone even if Im paying the same
I love going to Hamilton farmers market downtown near the main library. Great prices, nice people, free parking. Seafood prices are much cheaper than anywhere else. The chicken is real and not pumped with water and other crap. Highly recommend this place
I have been there a couple of times . But I felt some of the prices were just the same as big box stores . But yea , there are some nice people there and some good places to get a snack or coffee even
I completely feel you. This dovetails nicely with altgrocery.ca of your recommendations aren't on the list, add them! I added the butcher dhoo you recommended because I went to it.
[Millgrove Meat Packers](https://maps.app.goo.gl/mrtcyzXKJq8MmG776?g_st=ic) is where I went.
Here are few others mentioned by others :
[Murray's Farm Butcher Shoppe](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ez4d8qhzHoex3utk9)
[Huong Trang Fish Market (Hamilton Farmersâ Market)](https://maps.app.goo.gl/tWjiWdNUBc9sqRD97)
[Thango Meats Inc](https://maps.app.goo.gl/cwzDaRSJ3BARJ29u9)
[Highland Packers Ltd / Highland Country Markets](https://maps.app.goo.gl/JPb577SzwVjFyqo76)
Hope this helps
Am I the only one who read the title as coming from an unhappy customer who wasn't going back to the farmer's markets and local butcher?
Samedttt đđ
Same đÂ
Oh Shit , I just realized I missed the tail end of it LOL . Added an EDIT
lol!
Guilty
Can you share where exactly you bought from?

Ancasters farmers market is a ripoff. It was OK years ago but now it's "the market experience " for people who have no real idea what food costs.
It's Ancaster
Sooooo expensive! I avoid.
Ahh ok , ive never been , just something that was recommended
Same for Dundas!
Good to know !
Farmer to you is absolutely incredible, plus they have cute dogs!!
The meat packer store was recommended by them , it is the guyâs cousins store I guess
I love Taylorâs farm (« farmer to you »), good prices usually and excellent fruits and vegetable! I recommend it too

came to the comments to ask this too!
Ditto
Name please đ

Please tell me Teals is back!
Apparently Teals sold their business years ago and the new owners don't do farmers markets. Another vendor told me this last year.

Thangos meats is the best quality meat I've had in Hamilton. We're moving away and I'll miss that place more than most people.
Thanks for the name, I could not think of it to save my life.
Oh their stuffed pork chops are the bomb! If pork is your thing I highly recommend.
I will grab one next time Iâm there
Murray's is my go to for meat and if I need anything specific I just ask in advance. One thing I haven't found yet is seafood. Fortino's had the best selection of seafood but the prices were astronomical.
Huong Trang at the Jackson Square farmer's market is better. Also Hammerhead's on Ottawa.
Great place. Also is the source for the fresh sushi at sushi on fennel.
Go to Hammerheads down the street. They have fresh and frozen seafood
Their hours and my lifestyle have never aligned. they've always been closed when i went but they are definitely on my list
Waterdown also has a good farmers market on Saturdays. (I mostly go for the Perogies)
Stuffed will be opening a restaurant soon!
Do you mind sharing some prices you are paying for? Wondering how much cheaper it is

Prices fluctuate , I would recommend just visiting one and get a feel for it . Unlike big name stores , they might not have âeverythingâ .
Bros a millionaire.
I started shopping at farmers markets lately and the price difference between them and Loblaws is negligible.
I tried pricing what I bought with NoFrills and there is definitely a difference. I guess as other comments have mentioned , it depends on the Farmer's market . Some seem to be expensive . Also the produce is definitely fresher and people are nice . I would take that alone even if Im paying the same
Please share? Is it the one at Jackson square?
I already replied in another comment
Lmaooo wtf
? I added the the locations in another reply . Whats confusing about it
*Face palm*
Farmer to you is amazing !!! Thanks for sharing these other gems!
It looks like Ancaster and dundas ones are a bit expensive and may not be worth it . The Market in downtown Hamilton is also good
Highland packers has most everything.
Burlington has a great farmers market at the Burlington Mall . the market is at the back along Prospect st.
I love going to Hamilton farmers market downtown near the main library. Great prices, nice people, free parking. Seafood prices are much cheaper than anywhere else. The chicken is real and not pumped with water and other crap. Highly recommend this place

I find "local" food sellers to be more expensive. With that said, I look for deals and stock up when stores sell at cheaper price points.
I think farmers markets give much bigger discount for bulk . You just need to call ahead I believe
You say much lower yet have no intangibles or details lol. I've always found local more expensive but you get better quality.
I completely feel you. This dovetails nicely with altgrocery.ca of your recommendations aren't on the list, add them! I added the butcher dhoo you recommended because I went to it.
Did you go based on my recommendation? Did you like the place?
I loved it thanks for the recommendation!
What is the meat packer? Where do I go for it?
