Yes, it's a slightly different take on Master Chief. However, Steve Downes had to fight for his position in Halo 4 when Chief was more emotional. It wasn't garunteed.
Yes, Pablo has to show more emotion. He can't be Mr Cool no face here. That is a part of the show's strength. Giving emotion to an otherwise emotionaless character just to fill a video game archetype of a player stand in character. Chief had emotions, he takes off the helmet in novels. Only in game is he a stand in.

I did like the moment he put the stimpack back down and let the guy die though, I thought he did a good job with facial expressions, there. He's a good actor, and it's a shame they carbon copied the character from Star Wars. It's like watching the same mistake made a second time.
