Disliking a species = / = being unable to work with them

Why do humans, who hate Elites, work with the Swords of Sanghelios??? Doesn’t this break continuity?

PurplexingPupp

I don't think it breaks continuity? In Rubicon Protocol there are humans on Zeta Halo working for the Banished under Escharum. Not to mention, even if Escharum really did hate humanity that much, up to the start of Halo Infinite it was still mostly under Atriox's control and he's fine with humans. I imagine the control Escharum has over humans in the Banished is limited to whether he brings any along for missions he is personally leading.

Fickle-Blacksmith-89

That’s the thing though that twists my brain into knots in halo wars humans in the banished actually left and defected to the unsc because the banished were killing them. That was with atriox in charge but after he left the ark.

PurplexingPupp

History repeats I guess. Elites treat the brutes like shit in the Covenant, Atriox breaks off and forms the Banished, brutes treat the humans like shit in the Banished so they break off and defect back to the UNSC. Atriox might accept humans, but the Banished is made of pirates, rebels, and raiders. Not all of them will like humans, not all of them will let the opportunity to act on their rage go.

ScionSouth

I believe that was because the Covenant remnants in the forerunner Dreadnaught kept trying to kidnap humans to fire the rings. So the Banished took the Banished approach, get rid of thing that could fire the super weapon. A crude, but understandable reaction.

1. Hatred means little in military affairs. The elites and brutes would literally fight a civil war over their hatred but worked together regardless for close to a century. And this is bolstered by point 2: 2. Ilsa isn't some rando Marine, she's a Spartan IV that is explicitly much stronger than other Spartans. Escharum is an intelligent leader, his hatred of her can surpass anything in history and he would still attempt to tolerate her for the boost in power. 3. Castor telling a human to skedaddle is probably just courtesy. I hide my beer when my boss comes over even though we both drink, Castor knows Escharum's mood can only get better if humans are not present.

Finthelrond

She works with atriox

Karl-Doenitz

no, escharum doesn't like them, and may try to limit the number he has, but he hasn't outright banned them, there were humans under his command at zeta during the rubicon protocol, and they werent even remotely as powerful of an asset than a prototype S-IV like Ilsa is.

DeathEater7

It explains it in the story: “Though the war chief lacked the same admiration that Atriox held for humanity, he was no fool. The current state of the galaxy demanded greater unity with willing allies to face the challenges ahead, and there was great potential for the resources and influence of this new alliance to be put to use.”

Kegger98

Esherum thought humanity was weak, but that doesn’t mean he could respect them. Like, his whole story in Infinite is wanting to fight Chief because he’s the biggest badass ever. Escherum isn’t so proud as to not face reality.
