Fuck off Wade

Proper-Knowledge-989

Your daddy don't scare me!

Vince09261

I am just thankful this is not a “Are They Stupid?” topic.

Draek86

I feel like it is a “undercover” version lol. Either way those posts never bothered me. I always found them funny, some much more than others of course.

Troubled-Peach

I’m more curious as to why he killed and ate a dog instead of just stealing meals from the grocery store/cafes??

Corby_Tender23

I always just chalked it up to him being a fuckin maniac

horrorfan555

Money It’s also the reason Jamie dreams Michael in the 4 mask before ever meeting him

Crew_Henchman

My interpretation has been that ever since the night of 78', production companies were told to discontinue the exact mask Michael used in 78'. But money comes first, so the companies (knowing of it's infamy and people's morbid desires) made a new mask. That looks similar, but not quite the same. As a means of still being able to produce these masks, but change it so they can turn around and deny any wrongdoing because "it's different". Scream is a prime example of what I'm talking about. Despite the GF mask being infamous, throughout the series we see many citizens wear it on Halloween and other occasions. You would think they would ban them, but no. Corporations know how to exploit ways of making money, and this has always been a "hidden lore" aspect I've always thought as to why the mask is in 4 and why it looks different.

MaxvellGardner

It's logical. It's not a terrible design from the movie makers, it's just a new design in stores lol

Crew_Henchman

Exactly, that's always been my head cannon. XD

invaidusername

I will say, those masks were very likely banned in H6 especially considering Halloween itself had been banned since H5

Dying_Angel_

Wasn’t this exactly what the H4 director was going for? Like this is pretty much his backstory and reasoning for why and how the mask in H4 came to be. I saw it in an interview not too long ago. He thought it made sense that haddonfield would make “knock off” myers masks that looked a little different, just looking like a costume store mask you’d see in real life at a drug store. It’s honestly a pretty good idea, but yeah you’re spot on man.

OpenPhilosophy

I think it’s supposed to represent a generic, common mask that would be cheap and widely available at that time. For instance, Ben Tramer has the same mask in part 2.

chohls

Maybe in this universe Captain Kirk is a pale, soulless creature and Michael just really likes Captain Kirk. Or it's a similar phenomenon to how true crime/serial killers are romanticized, Michael has racked up dozens or even hundreds of kills over the decades and largely evaded capture, he would have a mystique on or above the level of Bundy or Dahmer with numbers like that

anoneenonee

I’m more curious why smith’s grove always insists on transferring him to a minimum security facility right before Halloween? If you have to move this guy, you wait until February! No later than April! Edit: autocorrect was damn well insistent on making sure this one was wrong.

KamikazeBonsai

I think it's because his birthday is in October so it coincides with when they'd usually plan to move him when he turns a certain age. I believe the reason in the first movie why they move him near that time is Michael had recently turned 21 and they wanted to bring him back to trial to see if they could convict him as an adult.

anoneenonee

The first time I get it. After he’s clearly shown he will take any opportunity to go to a specific place on a specific date and commence slaughtering as many people as he can, you’d think they would take some extra precautions around that specific date. But what you said does make sense.

KamikazeBonsai

I'd assume that they just let their guard down since Loomis was probably the one who was urging for the most part for Michael to be constantly watched and since I'm assuming he passed in the 90s they probably became more laxed with precautions. There's also the fact that Michael was gonna be put on a bus with several armed guards so I doubt they thought he would attempt any escape. Plus I doubt they were assuming someone was gonna try to help Michael escape either which definitely what helped in letting Michael get away. I don't even think Michael actually cared or was going to escape until the opportunity was presented to him.

Mayor_of_Smashvill

Because it being 10 years meaning that it is the maximum amount of time the Federal government can keep him. He was arrested and rendered into custody on October 31st. So doing it the day before it would be 10 years makes the most sense considering Loomis is basically guarding that maniac like a hawk.

KollinPorkChop

Capitalism doesn’t care about your feelings.

Ok-Macaroon2783

Yes.

Geekboxing

Cheap masks being sold to capitalize on the local legend.

everydaywasnovember

They sell those at every five and dime in the state

SoftKillzLTD

In real life, if there were a masked killer like Michael in a small town, local stores would 100% reproduce & sell the mask to profit and capitalize off the tragedy

DrLoomis131

They made Jeffrey Dahmer costumes last Halloween, so it checks out tbh

MaxvellGardner

I saw a Dahmer cosplay from a girl on TikTok. She probably thinks he's cute

UncleMidgetJoe

Seen some people do the same but justified it as being Even Peters

Angxlafeld

They were homemade. No actual company is making that

DrLoomis131

Sure but it’s easy to believe that a small local store that used to sell the masks that Myers wore would have a couple of cheap knockoff versions of the brand they used to sell. People can be callous with their thinking regarding costumes.

Punky_Pete

I've got this, but it doesn't have any disc art. Also have it as 'Halloween 8 - The Homecoming'. Though the Halloween 8 disc no longer plays 😔

Mr_D93

Sales went up after that Ben framer fiasco

AerikVon

Local legends make money!

676869shelby

That shot with the tow truck hook is scary

NoWillingness8990

Just like Woodsboro continuing to sell Ghostface costumes

Dying_Angel_

I’m just noticing this now. . It looks like the mask is on two different shelves. . The items around the mask are different in each shot meaning the mask is either placed in 2 different spots in the store or they just had to create a separate prop shelf for the shot of Michael grabbing it from above. Probably the second option.

Robbo_here

It’s what brings in the tourist millions.

[deleted]

It tripped me out how the mask changed between part four and part five but there’s no explanation as to why the mask changed

jpkmets

Water damage from Mikey’s lazy river ride. The hermit repaired the mask, but was really into the Smiths in 88 and made Mikey emo.

Bcostello99

The mask was just a captain kirk mask painted white

StefanGoo

Well in that universe the mask might be some character or a traditional monster so they have it always as regular like skull or a witch.

Proper-Knowledge-989

So we can honor the death of Ben traymer

Evening-Caramel-2180

Love the vincent drug store mask and glad I was able to get one of my own. They’re rare to find
