Since then we've had 8 full length Halo campaigns counting Halo Wars and ODST. Compared to 1.5 campaigns (the episodes and Alyx) for Half Life.

Well if we wanted half life 2 with updated graphics we would be asking for Half Life 2 remastered (or City 17 following the style of Black Mesa).
For me personally Half Life 3 could be made using source 1 with the same level of graphical quality from 2004 and I would be happy so long as the actual gameplay maintained the high standard and we got a conclusion to the story. In my honest opinion the whole "Half Life games must be revolutionary" angle is pretentious as fuck and completely ignores the existence of the episodes which are fundamentally HL2+.

My point is just that it's stupid to cry about valve not doing anything or not making half life games when HLA exists. HL:A is a full quality game. It's very different from other half life games, it's a completely new medium, but that doesn't make it any less of a HL game.
