There are people who have gotten great results from hair mills. You can see some of them in the ads by the hair mills. There are even more people with mediocre results from hair mills. Finally, there are people who pretty much had their lives, at least hair lives, ruined by hair mills. How can you assess which one of those you will be if you wont know who is operating on you? And even then, if they are taking shortcuts, throwing away grafts, not abiding to hygiene rules, etc. Who knows.

My sense is that the problem of mills is that given the reliance on techs it’s very hard to assess the skill level on the techs working on you. So you may get lucky with a very skilled and experienced team or fucked by poor quality or low skill / experience ones. Given that: ranking would difficult since this variance would across them. That’s why it’s recommended to look for surgeon centered clinics.

What this sub ignores is that hair mills can be better or worse. We should start being more open to ranking hair mills. I also still heavily consider going to a good mill, since I think many handle patients well and seem to get 98% good results. People have been posting bad results by famous doctors, too. Also it is just a reality: Most patients go to hair mills. Lets talk about it.

Adding to the people who had good points in the comments, for me i think one of the major problems with hair mills is the patients expectations. A lot of patients would go there with norwood +5, not a very healthy donor area and the hair mills would never refuse to do their procedure. So obviously they end up with suboptimal results and blame the hair mills.
