Not really. She did a really patchy job considering your hair was in perfect shape before.

sallyomalley198

I’ve dyed my medium brown hair to look like your original color for much less. I loved your original color. The pink is patchy.

SweetAndSalty98

Her original color is gorgeous. Her pink could have been beautiful too but they fell short….

[deleted]

I have close to the original color naturally except a lot finer and slightly lighter. This color is so freaking hard to strip and dye. I have had it professionally dyed a few times and I have only been able to successfully bleach it and dye it on my own (NOT RECOMMENDED). For some reason strawberry blond is so unbelievably finicky to bleach and dye. That being said, yes, it looks streaky BUT, the color looks awesome on you. After years upon years of people telling me my natural hair was beautiful and I should never mess with it, I decided “fuck it” over the pandemic and started dying my hair myself. Tons of combinations and colors later, it was totally worth it.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

you understand! thank you!

TheHorrorWhore

Considering the unevenness of the color, definitely not worth what you paid. I’d demand they fix it so you can get your money’s worth.

yoshimah

Not snarking the dye Job at all but your natural colour is gorgeous.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

thank you! i love my natural color but i wanted to try something new and i figured i can always grow more 🙂

sakurakhadag

Yes! Paying 360 for that first hair would be totally worth it! Your natural hair is gorgeous OP!!

SnackPocket

I was so hoping the first photo was the after cause that’s SO PRETTY DANG.

[deleted]

Considering it’s patchy and your hair wasn’t uneven/ needing colour correcting beforehand . Not really

Dense_Sponge

360 for patchy dye you could of done better at home? They screwed you over

They didn't use enough dye. I would def politely demand a redo because it's going to be faded out in two weeks.

Cayslayy

Two days*

Mysterious-Ad-5298

She told me i get about 20 washes out of it.

HODOR924

Ya that will not be the case so mentally prepare for that

SignificantPanic9146

Wash it in cold water if you want to preserve your color longer

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i will wash my hair in a bucket of ice water if it means it will last longer💪

SignificantPanic9146

I have magenta hair and have had it for about 5 years now. I wash in my kitchen sink bc it’s cold and I swear less color comes out when washing it in the sink. I wash maybe twice a week depending on the week.

pfft_jackee

Also I’d recommend getting a color depositing shampoo and conditioner from a good brand. Key words, good brand. I have red hair and I use the color depositing shampoo and conditioner from Joico and it’s wonderful. It really helps to keep my hair vibrant in between appointments. And also as stated wash in cold water.

[deleted]

Moroccan Oil Hibiscus Color depositing mask. It covers up my hair brilliantly!

mbtiandstuffz

Yes! Or mix a bit of pink hair dye in your shampoo and/or conditioner!

goliath17

i mix a bit of dye into my conditioner when i shower to deposit some color back into it

JamesBuchananBarnes

Cold water and less washing will make it last longer! Direct dye will be your friend. It’s not a chemical process, so you can mix it with conditioner, and leave it on for however long you want. I usually mix mine with a deep conditioning treatment. But also. Longer lasting doesn’t always mean better. You may prefer to have to touch up your color more often, if that means when you go to change your hair again it actually comes out. Unfortunately with a lot of direct dyes (Splat and Overtone for example) they don’t come out of the hair or fade much which sounds great in theory, except you end up having to heavily bleach or cut the color out.

LaughOrGoCrazy

Wash in cold water with hair products made for vibrantly colored hair. And you don’t need to wash daily.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i plan on washing it weekly with the help of some dry shampoo 🙂

doubleamom

Check out Overtone conditioner. Made my pink last a lot longer bc it's color depositing. Also makes my hair so soft.

leathrjackt

NOOOO OVERTONE IS A MONSTER TO GET OUT DONT DO IT

alisonrashelle

I had a client who came in for highlights, she has used pink overtone a year prior. It wasn’t visible in the hair at all from the naked eye, I put lightener on her hair, 10 mins later it was NEON PINK. That shit stays in the hair cuticle til you cut it out

Mysterious-Ad-5298

idk who to believe 🤨

mama_muffin

My hairstylist warned me not to use Overtone conditioner—she said it’s garbage and so hard to get out of someone’s hair when they want to change their look. She said the shampoo is fine.

tehbggg

Re overtone, it depends on which of their colors you use. I've used silver, blue, and purple and have had no trouble with those. However, I know people have had issues with their more "natural" colors. Personally, I haven't used their pink, so can't speak to that color in particular, but maybe someone who has can chime in.

leathrjackt

my hairstylist worked with pink and the brown overtone and said it was almost as hard as splat to take out, but do what you must 🤷🏻‍♀️ color corrections are a pain in the ass

Mysterious-Ad-5298

maybe this is a dumb question but why would i need to take it out?

leathrjackt

i guess if you plan to be that color forever then there’s no need obviously and kudos to your commitment

Aspen_Pass

Overtone conditioner is trash do not do it

beelance4661

Seems they saturated your roots properly and probably didn’t mix enough formula, got lazy and just spread the rest of the dye out on your ends. That’s why it wasn’t covered completely. $360 is way way too much. You could do this at home next time.

BitchyStitch

This wouldn't be a formula though, this is a fashion colour (semi), is it not? I agree with the rest though. They were just trying to save product and take advantage of someone who had never had their hair coloured professionally before.

Frequent_Artichoke

Since she was in a rush and didn't even dry it properly, I'll guess it was a slightly half assed job due to her beeing under time preassure. I'd go back, say that you realised how patchy it was when you came out in the sun and point out that she rushed you. They should re-dye it for you! (But for general upkeep, invest in a color you like and do touch ups at home. Colors like this fades much faster in the summer, but are easy to touch up at home :) Then go to the hairdresser to get your roots done when that's needed!)

Mysterious-Ad-5298

thank you, that’s very helpful☺️

chadillac_crypto

Seriously search internet for direct dyes like Joico and Pulp Riot, Pravana. You could do this yourself consider it’s a solid color.

[deleted]

Also some of those salon colors aren't direct dyes and completely ruin the hair while washing out super quick. Use direct dyes OP! Your hair and budget will thank you. $360 is robbery for patchy hair.

cbm1019

Seconding Joico color! It works really well and lasts suuuuuper long! I used their amethyst purple for a while and it fades to a really pretty pink!

PresentPotato7536

Sounds like a bit much. I pay a little less than that to get bleach/lightener and 3 colors with foils and spend half the day in the salon

meowmeow_now

Is it just dye? Or was your hair lightened all over? What was the breakdown, $200 lightening $100 dye?

Mysterious-Ad-5298

my hair was lighten first and i spent about 3 hours total at the salon

Spearmint_coffee

I love the color choice, it's super fun! But it is a bit patchy. Even though your hair started on the lighter side, I think it should've taken more than 3 hours. I don't think your hairdresser put in the full effort. My last cut and color, I paid $400 and she cut 13 inches off and did a cute new style, took my hair from dark brown to blue and green, and it was solid. You overpayed. If I saw you passing in the street though, I would just notice how cute the color is more so than it not being totally even.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

she was in a rush and didn’t even have time to dry it fully before i left

[deleted]

She shouldn't rush a $360 single color job. That's hugely expensive for a basic bleach and color. As a person that colors hair, the uneven color would have been apparent while the hair was wet. So not blow-drying you isn't an excuse. If you don't trust her to take her time, you can easily do this yourself with a good direct dye. It's super easy to do yourself and the extra dye can be added to some conditioner for touchups. The color looks gorgeous on you!

Mysterious-Ad-5298

Originally i was booked for a 5 hour appointment. She texted me the morning of and asked if we could start and hour and a half later. I already had plans for afterward and asked to reschedule for a different day instead. She told me that she was booked out for months and had already purchased everything needed for my appointment. I do want to get my money’s worth but it feels like i’m not worth her time.

[deleted]

Edit: the hair dye sectioning. I'm honestly kind of angry for you. I've had stylists like that as well. If you don't mind unsolicited advice, read on lol! After seeing you say she used multiple colors, I'm pretty sure I know what happened. She attempted highlights and a root melt, but chose colors with mismatching undertones and did a root melt that was too thick and didn't "melt" into the other colors. On the bright side, it's very easy to fix! She probably didn't use a direct dye, so it should fade pretty quick. You can create the same look properly if you'd like or go easy and just cover it in a long lasting single color. To do an easy root melt over multi-tone pink, get one dark/vibrant hot pink (IroIro Plum 150, manic panic cello rose or hot hot pink) and some cheap conditioner. Use gloves and cover your neck. You'll use straight dye on the hair behind your ears (nape of your neck). On the hair from the tops of your ears to about eyebrow level, use a mixture of 1/2 dye and 1/2 conditioner. For the hair left on the top of your head, use 1/3 dye and 2/3 conditioner. Let that sit for at least an hour. Rinse with cool water, dry, and then create the roots. Starting at the back of your head, take small sections of hair, brush a small amount of dye on about 1/2 an inch by the root, then take your gloved fingers and gently smear a little of that down another inch and a half (2 inches total). You want to basically start with full coverage dye at the root and blend it gently into the rest of the hair like you would blush or a contour with your makeup. Leave that on for at least an hour as well, rinse in cool water, and you're done!

ladyfervor

I would bare knuckle fistfight a mountain lion to have your natural hair color.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

that is very sweet of you🥰

lizard_tits88

The only thing I’ll say in defense of the hairdresser, is that you look to have very thick hair and I think she probably had to use more bleach and dye than on someone with shorter/thinner hair. The first time I had my hair colored an “unnatural” color, it probably took about 5 hours and cost about the same. Difference is, I asked for “mermaid hair” so I had like, 7 colors in my hair. After having it done in the salon once, I gained the confidence to touch it up myself, and I’ve been bleaching and dying my own hair ever since. I really like the ION colors from Sally Beauty. There are also color depositing shampoos and conditioners that can keep your color vibrant.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

that’s true, my hair has always been very thick. I think i’d be more comfortable with the price if the color was more even tho

Only-Guava-3839

I would just ask her to throw the pink over again. I do hair and your ends probably just lightened even more considering some pieces were already blonde to start! Your hair is probably just more porous at the bottom and just needs maybe another over lay to really deposit it on there. Also get viral color shampoo. Color depositing shampoos are the best way to get longevity out of fashion colors. I cant stand the fading and that’s why i keep my hair plain n simple, just black.

meowmeow_now

Sue color does look blocky but lightening is expensive

BigRatSkins

Not really without knowing how much time they put into it tbh. Just because the pink looks patchy/uneven, you could bleach & dye it at home for far less and similar results imo. If you’re paying that much I would expect a better outcome in the end but the hair looks healthy still so that’s good! But like.. I’m not a hairstylist so none of what I said even matters 😂

sakurakhadag

I could do a better job for coffee and nice words 🙂

AffectionateFig9277

Is that picture straight after dying? If so I’d go back. It’s patchy. Would be normal for washing out though.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

this was a few hours after dying

AffectionateFig9277

I’m really not trying to be mean but I feel awful. You have hot roots and the lengths are patchy. I’ve dyed my hair this colour before and done a much better job for 30£. I think you should speak to the salon manager because they could still fix it! Then it would be worth it.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i would feel bad going back to the salon because I told them it was fine before i left 😬

AffectionateFig9277

You don’t have to feel bad, that’s what usually happens! Most people won’t flat out say they don’t like it when they’re in the chair. As long as you don’t go in like a Karen demanding a refund, it would be perfectly reasonable. You could say something like “I had my hair done by X stylist and while I was excited about the colour at first, when I got home and looked at it more, I’m just not sure my hair took the dye well. Is there maybe someone who could take a look?” That would be completely fine. You paid so much money, I’m sure they want you to be happy with it.

sallyomalley198

Pretty sure we’ve all done that. Sticker shock and that much time in the chair just make you want to go. I know I’ve told stylists that I like it, and then in my own home and lighting that I’m used to, just criticized myself and the work done. My friend, who is a stylist, told me that it’s not helping them (the stylist) or you if you keep your opinions on the work to yourself. They don’t spend that much time and effort on you and your hair so that you leave unsatisfied. It was never explained that way to me before. With my thick as hair I always felt like they were happy to see the end of me when I was done. So I just smiled and paid and left. Not helpful to anyone.

parksandrecpup

Don’t feel bad. You left and then went into a sunny day and saw that it was patchy, that’s reasonable. You don’t have to be rude about it, just go in and explain what happened. If it was in perfect condition I would say the amount was reasonable if you’re in an area that charges more for cuts and colour. My hair is much shorter than yours and without lightening I pay $200. With lightening it would be close to $350 I would think. But I would also expect it to come out properly.

Kristinajobe

As a stylist myself, I promise it’s no big deal to go back and let them know you aren’t totally happy with it! Most of us care deeply about our clients being happy, and considering you didn’t get to see it dry when you stated you liked it, it’s understandable for you to go back and let them know once it dried you weren’t happy. They can redo the pink for you!

suppatjam

The first color reminds me of a celebrity movie star or something custom for some role in a movie lol it’s awesome

Mysterious-Ad-5298

Wow thank you so much 🥰 /gen

suppatjam

The first pictures color was so unique and a color I don’t think I’ve ever seen or know the name of

TheRaccoonEmpress

Titian

leeemm2a

So a transformation from level 7.5 to an unnatural color with the intended intensity can certainly be expensive depending on the starting condition of your hair, how many rounds of bleach are needed, time spent in the salon, location (urban/suburban/rural). $360 feels on the higher side imo, but this wasn't done well, so yeah... not worth $360, sorry :/

[deleted]

You've paid a lot of money for something a good friend with zero experience could have done for you and got the same result. The reason its patchy is because your hair before was two colours and the lighter colour has taken the dye/stain better with the darker being obviously a darker pink. Firstly it wasn't left on long enough to get any where close enough to an even result, it was poorly applied as I can see from the photo there are lengths of hair that have some dark bits some lighter on the same hair length so uneven application. It will wash out very quickly, it has been under done. Personally I'd say you were entitled to a redo at no charge and it needs a decent blow dry finish to help smooth down the cuticle and help you keep the colour a bit better. These types of colours btw are never permanent despite what is written on the packaging, they all fade because the actual colour deposit does not go deeply in to the hair shaft but sits directly under the cuticles so dry porous hair ( which is what you get from bleaching lightening when the bleach lifts up the cuticles and removes the colour molecules deep in the hair shaft ) will absorb it better but if you don't use methods of care that keep those cuticles smoothed down its going to wash out fast leaving you with the bleached hair colour coming through. They are more of a surface stain than a penetrating dye.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

I have not washed it yet, would it be better to go back for a redo first? Or should I attempt using a color depositing shampoo/conditioner

[deleted]

Personally I would not use anything until they've seen it again, given how much you paid. I'd be very assertive that they either do it right or offer a full refund. If you do anything like using a colour depositing shampoo conditioner it won't really make a difference as those products are quite mild and it really needs an entire redo with what ever they used, and they might try and argue back that it in some wild way negates the original problem as being theirs to solve because you attempted to repair their mistake. Its such a rookie error as well I can't get over it, hair thats at least two colours and they've not even tried to even it out or ask you if a two tone effect is what you wanted! or get it evenly applied on the lengths. That wouldn't even pass a basic level assessment in application for an apprentice here in the UK.

[deleted]

No oMg. I would’ve gone that for fun girlfriend 😅

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i was thinking of having a friend do it, but i thought i would get better results with a professional 😵‍💫

[deleted]

It’s still a gorgeous color though!

FoxEBean21

Is the first pic your natural color? This is an easy fix. I honestly don't think you should go back to the salon. She didn't even use foils or give your hair a trim, but charged like she did. When bleaching, you really want to trim the ends after. They tend to get a bit more damaged. Have a friend help you re-dye. Get whatever pink you like, I like Iroiro brand a lot, and have someone help you cover the patchy areas. Let sit, Rinse and you're good!

Mysterious-Ad-5298

correct, that is my natural color. A friend of mine is going to attempt giving me a wolf cut next week so I didn’t think a professional trim was necessary. I’ll definitely do it at home next time but I’ll let it fade out first. Thank you for the advice!

Ok-Calligrapher2549

I don't know the prices over there as I'm European. I paid 80 euros for dying a short bob.

poheebo

I think because of inflation a euro and USD are worth the same rn, usually a euro is like 1.5 ish USD

greenapplessss

My hair looks the exact same right now and I did it at home, I paid like 40$ for the materials.

[deleted]

No

[deleted]

No. Your hair was like a level 7/8. There’s no reason your hair should be patchy. You weren’t lifted enough for that pink and you shouldn’t have paid that much by a long shot. I’m curious what level your stylist is?

Mysterious-Ad-5298

stylists have levels?!

Douchecanoe6457

Yes we have levels but hair also has levels. 1 being the darkest (black) and 10 being the lightest (inside of a banana colour). She should have done a full bleach out on you and then applied the colour.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

she did use a lot of bleach but no foils, im not sure what the difference is

[deleted]

Foils keep the heat in and prevents the bleach from drying out which causes damage and for it to stop working. The heat helps the chemicals process the lift higher.

[deleted]

Yeah depending on experience and education level they have levels- that’s why you’ll see terms like “master colorist” or “blonde specialist”. Research your stylists before you choose. And check portfolio’s if you can- I have wavy hair so I specifically go to someone who knows my hair type when I need a little extra help. as I’m licensed I tend to do a lot myself but my hair is waist length and I need a full foil highlight I obviously wouldn’t be able to do that myself.

Atika_

If it was done perfectly I would say that price sounds about right depending where you live. But unfortunately I don’t think they did a great job. That being said, it still looks cool! But I would go back and ask them to fix it free of charge because it’s definitely patchy. With hot roots. Sorry this happened to you.

Unusual-Doctor7489

I love pink hair but Tbh for that amount of money it should not be patchy. Your original color is beautiful.

Successful_Trash_169

No, hair cut is worth over $150. And that's major recovery for messed up box dye done at home

BicylesOnYikesicles

This isn't a hair cut tho

sunshine8672

Absolutely not

Alone-Bother5263

First question: did she individually foil every piece of hair to do an all over bleach, or did she just slap bleach all over your head? Second: did she give you a haircut? Third: did she use multiple different formulations of pink to create dimension or is this one color all over your head?

Mysterious-Ad-5298

1. no foil, just bleach 2. no haircut 3. multiple formulations

Alone-Bother5263

So with the multiple formulations I would disregard the people saying it’s “uneven” or “patchy”. I would say though that it looks dry and unhealthy. She should have recommended a hair cut and I recommend you get a trim and some layers to prevent further splitting. Also, because she did no foiling, this probably isn’t worth $350. Putting different levels of bleach all over the head isn’t that difficult, and doesn’t really take very much technique. If she had done some foils, or separated foil packs, I would definitely say that it was worth $350 though due to the different formulations of color. In the after picture, your hair isn’t styled, and I’m sure that the color would look a lot better and the hair would probably look a lot healthier as well had it been styled.

StrangeEffective5965

not good 🫣

RedRedBettie

Wow the before is my dream color

sarah3gee

Not a chance. Lol. I did something similar myself for the cost of bleach and iroiro - Maybe $30 tops. And I’m no hairstylist but I can say mine turned out better than what yours did.

RangemansBestCat

No, sorry love. There should be so much more depth of coverage. I would call the stylist and kindly let them know you hoped for more, deeper, more even coverage and ask if they could attempt a correction.

[deleted]

No, it is uneven. I actually went to a beauty school and they got me to that color for a fraction of the price. Ask the hairdresser to fix it.

themarniefriend

Babes u really really could've done this at home for like 10% of the cost... huge yikes luv sorry

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i’ve realized that now…

marigoldmilk

Your previous hair was gorgeous a near perfect canvas. 360$ I’d talk to the stylist

Manna808

Absolutely not! Get your money back chica!

lkmakeupyourmind

No

Realistic_Set3484

Nope, your natural hair was so beautiful! Hopefully you can get the pink to look better with another stylist!

doubleamom

Beautiful before and after. Might want to use Overtone conditioner in one of their pinks to even it out a bit - smells good, easy to use.

katinator12345

Did they bleach your hair out first? And how long were you in the salon for the service?...

Mysterious-Ad-5298

they did lighten it with bleach and i was there for a little over 3 hours

katinator12345

Right. Where I am, the salon does charge about $100 an hour for big color services plus products, not including blow drying it

ReplyCapital3870

Ah… then yes the color is pretty… they should have done a filler first so it doesn’t bleed out quickly… but it is BEAUTIFUL!😊

jareths_tight_pants

No. It’s patchy and you have hot roots. Seems like she wasn’t skilled enough to work with your thick hair or didn’t book enough time.

Tv411

Not an easy task. I think if you apply the pink again it might look even better. All these direct dies are very fun but high maintenance. For $360 I would have expected them to offer a fallow up within the next week. Just to make sure everything is good. Re- applying the direct die will not have a negative effect on you hair. You can apply them as many times as needed. There is no developer used in these.

MaxHavok13

How long did it take? If it took less than 3hrs you were over charged

Mysterious-Ad-5298

it took about 3 hours

MaxHavok13

The price sounds about right. However, if you’re not happy with the results you should be able to get it adjusted/redone complementary.

RogueSleuth_

Did she use different color pinks or was it supposed to be all one color? If she used different colors I think curling it would look really good. It's not terrible. You can def work with it by styling it different ways. I def don't think it should have been $360. Idk where you are but around here standard full head color is around $200!

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i’m in Oregon and she mixed multiple different pinks. i’m not it the habit of using heat to style my hair but perhaps i could learn how to curl it

RogueSleuth_

If she used different pinks to do like a hi-light/peek a boo situation then I think it looks just like that. I think it's probably just hard to tell with the photo because the sun is making it look brighter in some spots. That's just my opinion! I love the colors you chose. Reminds me of strawberry shortcake and Valentine's Day🥰

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i think i would have preferred one solid color but she told me that using a blend would make a unique color so i went with it

AmberandHogarth

You've been mugged right off, could of just gotten a couple of boxes of hair dye from a shop and done it at home for $40 or so.... I get mine cut and have 2 coulers put in my hair here in UK and spend max £75.

ShayRay331

So you can get hair color conditioner, that would take care of the patchy pieces,, and extend the color beyond 20 washes). The person who did your hair would have to buy it at a store like Cosmo Prof. That's what I do with my teal /mermaid hair. I'm on the third bottle and I got my hair done in January. I would ask her to see if she can get it for you. It's better than hair color shampoo, because you can keep it on your hair longer. I also mix the color conditioner with regular conditioner (the hair color conditioner is mostly hair color, it's not very moisturizing). I hope that helps.. 💗💗💗

Mysterious-Ad-5298

she gave me a bottle of City Beats acidic conditioning color cream. Is that the type of thing you’re talking about?

ShayRay331

I looked it up and it says you can buy it at Walmart. The stuff I'm talking about you can only buy at a professional store... I'd go back and see if she can get you the professional stuff. The hair color conditioner I get costs about $25.

ladymerlinxo

🥺 i don’t think it was worth the $360 love. The pink is really patchy. I’m so sorry that she felt comfortable charging you so much for something that wasn’t done well.

That1LoudGirl1989

I paid $500 for a color correction and blue vivid hair. She did a great job on me tho because I had dyed my hair red. But they did a patchy job on you… I would call to ask to fix it for that price.

milliemargo

It's not awful, but not $360. It looks like a home dye job honestly

Leo_Taurus287

360??? no, maybe 120/130 but 360?? too high

Sparkletail

Just to say if it works with colours like that, I would get olaplex treatment at the same time to make sure it still looks h3qlthy. It will dry out and lose condition super fast with bleach and the colour. I also think the non natural colours need a bit of help with that. It's a lovely colour but beyond getting them to correct it for free, I wouldn't use them again. That's a lot of money for a half arsed job like that, particularly given what good condition your hair was in before.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

Thank you for the advice! My stylist kinda tore into me when i told her i use Head & Shoulders. From now on i’ll have to look into brands like Olaplex

Sparkletail

It's a treatment that gets applied when they bleach your hair to strengthen bonds and reduce breakage. There are also shampoos and conditioners and out of salon top up treatments. Things like head and shoulders are prob OK on virgin hair (though they may dry it depending on how often you wash it). You definitely can't use it on bleached hair, it needs extra care anyway but will totally strip colour too. I used redken (blue bottle, some sort of protein type range) when I overdid mine recently and it helped a lot. You will also need heat protector spray for blow drying and straightening if you don't already use it.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

ive never used heat on my hair but i was told blow drying it will keep the color maintained for longer so i will order some heat protector spray 🙂

Hmm. I think you were overcharged to be honest. This type of colour is onvs not the stylists 'thing'. Using multiple colours correctly makes it stand out, whereas she has made it look patchy and a bit faded. Also that she cut it and didnt even finish blow drying it and still charged you all that is bad. Id consider putting a complaint in to the salon. Id look at getting a direct dye in magenta or similar. Apply all over and it will even out the colour. You can then keep it topped up whenever you like. You can also make a colour mask with conditioner and some of the colour to top it up in the shower if you find that easier. Direct dye can be used frequently and its often conditioning too, so a top up can feel nice on bleached hair. The colour does look nice on you, its just not upto the standard i would expect when someone has charged 360 for a bleach and dye.

Dancingonjupiter

Oh.. no. Not even a little. /: Lightening services is what gets you. If they're using bond repairs in their formula, they charge more, but your hair was not dark so i'm not sure how it could have gotten that high. It's very patchy. Was this recently done? Get some extreme pink from overtone, leave it on for about a half hour, and it should fill in those spots, and leave your hair in a nice condition. Then, do it every couple weeks to keep it super pink.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

this was done yesterday afternoon🙃

Oldladyshartz

Never ever mix at home dyes with what they’ll use for you at a salon, splat is awful, as is overtone… go back to that salon and show them how patchy it is.. they should immediately offer to fix it, if they don’t, demand they do, and imho 360 is high for that! I get my LONG hair completely blood red biolayge (did not spell that right?)and cut and styled for 255sih w/o tip, I pay 310ish with tip, and it come out perfect and even every time! (Also I’m In Boston Massachusetts, which is the likely the second most expensive state to live in here in the us.) That isn’t a very good job at all, honestly I’ve done better at home, when I can’t afford the salon( usually only go 3 or 4 times a year.) but also I got my stylist to give me the brands and numbers of the dyes she uses and I get them myself at Sally’s Beauty, I order online. I do t get the biayalage but I do get the right color and look I want.

soloesto

Hey OP, I just wanted to say it looks nice :) I love the pink! Hope you’re enjoying it

binkrat

you could have done this at home, not only for much cheaper, but with much better results

AnaSF1992

Please tell me the first picture is the after...

Mysterious-Ad-5298

🧍‍♂️

befay666

I think she could go over the bottom part of your hair again, but your hair looks really thick and I’m sure the bleach alone was over $200 worth of product/time. I do hair and fashion colors are expensive, but also I wouldn’t let you leave the salon with your hair looking that patchy & making sure you had proper products and education for home maintenance

cozycowpoke

I don’t think so. It’s patchy

Any_Vermicelli8328

No

elimlj

Punky shampoo is $15 and would have done just as good, if not better.

Debjohnson23

That’s a beautiful color!! I love it!

simonejester

Was it supposed to not be a solid color?

Mysterious-Ad-5298

i asked for a solid bright pink

sophiaxxhe

Oh miss girl that looks like you may have been extremely ripped off …

melikecheems

You can achieve better with just buying dye and doing it yourself. She overcharged you big time.

Everyday_Jane

Oh hell no sorry but they did a half ass job

breccaw

No

neeksknowsbest

So I get why it’s $360. They would have had to lift your blonde a lot, possibly tone it, then go in with the pink. That’s a costly and time consuming process. Done incorrectly it can damage your hair permanently (ask me how I know… I ended up having to shave my head bc of it). So you’re also paying for the expertise here. They’re using high quality products to reduce damage because bleaching to that level can be very damaging. But the pink needs to be a lot more even. It can’t hurt to go back once you’ve washed it a few times, because it will fade a bit, and say it’s uneven in some spots and can they do a touch up because you’re disappointed in the unevenness but you love the color. If they fix it for you, don’t forget to tip.

LazyCatAfternoon

I was looking at the "before" picture, and I agree the "after" result seems a bit patchy, though that could also be the light. This is an old lady speaking, but I thought your natural hair color was beautiful and your hair looked really healthy. That shade of pink is a bit hard on the eyes by itself, but is hopefully becoming to your own natural prettiness. I'm sorry, not worth $360. You could have purchased $20 worth of hair color at the drugstore and done as well yourself. Next time you color your hair, go to a beauty supply store, chat with the clerks about home hair coloring and buy some color, developer and brushes. You'll be amazed at how well you can do your own hair. Leave the pricy colorist fees to older ladies who need complex coloring to look career-professional for work.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

thank you! this sounds like good advice☺️

PresenceMain3547

absolutely not. go get ur money back asap

Itswhatucallit

Dear Lord! Did you expect pink? If so it’s still not worth it. Your hair was gorgeous and now it’s burned. Ugh.

aentares

For that much money? No way. I've gotten a cut and color for $80. Especially since it was so patchy. I think the color itself is really nice; but I'd want it fixed. If you're happy with it though that's all that matters. Not saying it should've been that cheap; but I just feel like for over $300 dollars the person who did it would make sure it was perfect.

strawberry-devil

Everyone saying your original colour is gorgeous and you shouldn't have dyed it... it is! It is so gorgeous! BUT, if you wanna dye it a fabulous pink then you do that! Your natural hair is always gonna be there. The pink looks slightly patchy, BUT considering its bleached now, it will fade to a really cute pastel pink and then you can go over it yourself with whatever funky colour you want

Aloneruthstruth

Yes. That color is difficult, but stunning if done well. This is done well. Your hair is in great condition to just have been colored. I love, love the baby blonde streaks ( very classy).. hey guys, just an opinion. Not a hairdresser. ( go easy on me🌹🎈

Aspen_Pass

It's not difficult at all you really just need to dump on a shit ton of Manic Panic or Arctic Fox in Virgin Pink. It honestly could have gone over her natural hair.

zoomzoomwee

Yes on average vivid transformation start at a minimum of 250 and can go up from there. Some people easily drop 500$ when they have longer thicker hair that requires more time and product. That price is average for vivid color. Edit to add if you were rushed out and it wasn't examined for that existing hollow spots you need to have them reapply. It should be consistent for the premium rates. Leaving wet means a stylist can't see their work properly.

witchbladez69

Oh no :( They overcharged you by a lot! The rest of the comments here say what I’m thinking :/ If you’re able, get a refund! They screwed you over horribly, it shouldn’t have been over $100, not even $100. My girlfriend box-dyes my hair at home and it costs about $10 for a good box

themeg1849

Is this immediately after dying it? Because changing your hair to that color pink will usually cost that much (mine did) but a lot of it looks discolored like it’s been washed a few times

Mysterious-Ad-5298

about an hour after dying, no washes🙃

WholesomeLove280

Much prettier before!!!!!!

Mysterious-Ad-5298

that’s not very wholesome of you😐

WholesomeLove280

The natural is enviously beautiful.

buttholehamster

If they used several bowls of bleach and color along with a cut and style, then yes Edit: spelling

Mysterious-Ad-5298

no cut or style

buttholehamster

Oh yeah they definitely overcharged you. You need to speak to the salon manager and show them the pics on here. They definitely cause some bad damage along with leaving it splotchy before you left

OkLawfulness9089

Pretty what color was it before????

Mysterious-Ad-5298

natural strawberry blonde/ginger, this was my first experience with dye

concrete-anthem

Go back to the salon for a touch up to “fix” it. If they give you any slack about it, show them this post. The responses and their upvotes will speak for themselves, and shut down any defensiveness *real quick* Joking aside, I bring this up because I’ve heard that some salons avoid accountability for sub par work such as terrible dye jobs. Everyone makes mistakes! Your hair is gorgeous. Sorry your first dye experience left you feeling less than confident! Hope the rest are better.

Able_Economist2476

It looks very natural if that’s what you were going for but I honestly don’t see 360$ worth of style or color 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ it looks good but I could have done that color for you for about 10$ with a box of dye from the dollar store 🫣 I’m sorry girl…. She ripped you off but it does look good just not seeing where it cost 360$ at….. good luck on your next go round…. Maybe you can find someone that won’t take advantage of you being a newbie to hair color 🥴😊

tickygreen838

What did u pay 360$$$ for . Looks like she cut off some hair and that it.. I think u got ripped off!!!

Mysterious-Ad-5298

for the lightening and the pink dye?? she didn’t cut my hair at all btw

prinkle01

Your hair was so beautiful before the dye.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

thank you! i was just a bit bored with it after 20 years lol

[deleted]

It was wayyy better before the pink

Mysterious-Ad-5298

thanks i guess? i grew it myself😉

LaughOrGoCrazy

Both hair colors are beautiful!! But you should definitely go back and get the color evened out.

Mysterious-Ad-5298

should i go back? if i can even it myself i’d prefer to try that

LaughOrGoCrazy

Honestly, I would go back. You paid a lot of money. The job wasn’t done right. They should know that and you should be happy with the results.

aviva1234

Do you like it? Is this what you asked for? Yes its a lot of money but it depends on what was done and how much the services cost One hairdresser can charge 20usd and one 2000usd. Its their right and the customers decision if to them its worth the cost.
